1 І почав Він у притчах до них промовляти: Насадив був один чоловік виноградника, муром обгородив, видовбав у ньому чавило, башту поставив, і віддав його винарям, та й пішов.

¶ And he began to speak unto them by parables. A certain man planted a vineyard and set a hedge about it and dug a place for the winefat and built a tower and let it out to husbandmen and went far away.

2 А певного часу послав він раба до своїх винарів, щоб прийняти частину плоду з виноградника в тих винарів.

And at the season he sent to the husbandmen a slave that he might receive from the husbandmen of the fruit of the vineyard.

3 Т а вони схопили його та й побили, і відіслали ні з чим.

And taking him, they beat him and sent him away empty.

4 І знову послав він до них раба іншого, та й того вони зранили в голову та зневажили.

And again he sent unto them another slave, and casting stones at him, they wounded him in the head and sent him away shamefully handled.

5 Т оді вислав він іншого, і того вони вбили. І багатьох іще інших, набили одних, а одних повбивали.

And again he sent another, and him they killed and many others, beating some and killing some.

6 І він мав ще одного, сина улюбленого. Наостанок послав і того він до них і сказав: Посоромляться сина мого!

Having yet therefore one son, his wellbeloved, he sent him also last unto them, saying, They will reverence my son.

7 А ті винарі міркували собі: Це спадкоємець; ходім, замордуймо його, і нашою спадщина буде!

But those husbandmen said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the place shall be ours.

8 І вони схопили його та й убили, і викинули його за виноградник...

And taking hold of him, they killed him and cast him out of the vineyard.

9 О тож, що пан виноградника зробить? Він прибуде та й вигубить тих винарів, і віддасть виноградника іншим.

What, therefore, shall the lord of the vineyard do? He shall come and destroy those husbandmen and shall give his vineyard unto others.

10 Ч и ви не читали в Писанні: Камінь, що його будівничі відкинули, той наріжним став каменем!

And have ye not read this scripture: The stone which the builders rejected is placed as the head of the corner;

11 В ід Господа сталося це, і дивне воно в очах наших.

This was the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?

12 І шукали Його, щоб схопити, але побоялись народу. Бо вони зрозуміли, що про них Він цю притчу сказав. І, лишивши Його, відійшли.

And they sought to lay hold on him but feared the multitude, for they understood that he had spoken the parable against them, and leaving him, they went away.

13 І вони вислали деяких із фарисеїв та іродіянів до Нього, щоб зловити на слові Його.

¶ And they send unto him certain of the Pharisees and of the Herodians to catch him in his words.

14 Т і ж прийшли та й говорять Йому: Учителю, знаємо ми, що Ти справедливий, і не зважаєш зовсім ні на кого, бо на людське обличчя не дивишся, а наставляєш на Божу дорогу правдиво. Чи годиться давати податок для кесаря, чи ні? Давати нам, чи не давати?

And when they were come, they say unto him, Master, we know that thou art a man of truth who regards no man; for thou dost not look upon the appearance of men, but dost with truth teach the way of God; is it lawful to give tribute to Caesar or not?

15 А Ісус, знавши їх лицемірство, сказав їм: Чого ви Мене випробовуєте? Принесіть Мені гріш податковий, щоб бачити.

Shall we give or shall we not give? Then he, understanding their hypocrisy, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? Bring me the coin that I may see it.

16 І принесли вони. А Він каже до них: Чий це образ і напис? Ті ж Йому відказали: Кесарів.

And they brought it. And he said unto them, Of whom is this image and inscription? And they said unto him, Of Caesar.

17 І сус тоді каже в відповідь їм: Віддайте кесареве кесареві, а Богові Боже! І дивувалися з Нього вони...

And Jesus, answering, said unto them, Render that which is of Caesar unto Caesar, and that which is of God unto God. And they marvelled at this.

18 І прийшли до Нього ті саддукеї, що твердять, ніби нема воскресення, і запитали Його та сказали:

¶ Then come unto him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

19 У чителю, Мойсей написав нам: Як помре кому брат, і полишить дружину, а дитини не лишить, то нехай його брат візьме дружину його, та й відновить насіння для брата свого.

Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man’s brother dies and leaves his wife behind him and leaves no children, that his brother should take his wife and raise up seed unto his brother.

20 Б уло сім братів. І перший взяв дружину й умер, не лишивши дітей.

Now there were seven brethren, and the first took a wife and dying left no seed.

21 Д ругий теж її взяв та й помер, і він не лишив дітей. Так само і третій.

And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed; and the third likewise.

22 І всі семеро не полишили дітей. А по всіх вмерла й жінка.

And the seven had her and left no seed; last of all the woman died also.

23 А в воскресенні, як воскреснуть вони, то котрому із них вона дружиною буде? Бо семеро мали за дружину її.

In the resurrection, therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24 І сус їм відказав: Чи ви не тому помиляєтесь, що не знаєте ані Писання, ані Божої сили?

Then Jesus, answering, said unto them, Do ye not therefore err because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25 Б о як із мертвих воскреснуть, то не будуть женитись, ані заміж виходити, але будуть, немов Анголи ті на небі.

For when they shall rise from the dead, neither shall they marry nor husbands take women nor women, husbands; but are as the angels who are in the heavens.

26 Щ ождо мертвих, що воскреснуть, чи ж ви не читали в Мойсеєвій книзі, як при кущі сказав йому Бог, промовляючи: Я Бог Авраамів, і Бог Ісаків, і Бог Яковів,

And regarding the dead who are to rise, have ye not read in the book of Moses how in the bush God spoke unto him, saying, I Am the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob?

27 Б о Він є Бог не мертвих, а живих! Тим то ви помиляєтесь дуже.

He is not God of the dead, but God of the living; ye therefore do greatly err.

28 А один із тих книжників, що чув, як вони сперечались, та бачив, як добре Він відповідав їм, приступив та й спитався Його: Котра заповідь перша з усіх?

¶ And one of the scribes came, having heard their dispute and knowing that he had given a good response unto them, asked him, Which is the principal commandment of all?

29 І сус відповів: Перша: Слухай, Ізраїлю: наш Господь Бог Бог єдиний.

And Jesus responded unto him, The principal of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel, The Lord our God, the Lord is one;

30 І : Люби Господа, Бога свого, усім серцем своїм, і всією душею своєю, і всім своїм розумом, і з цілої сили своєї! Це заповідь перша!

and thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul and with all thy thought and with all thy strength: this is the principal commandment.

31 А друга однакова з нею: Люби свого ближнього, як самого себе! Нема іншої більшої заповіді над оці!

And the second is like it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is no other commandment greater than these.

32 І сказав Йому книжник: Добре, Учителю! Ти поправді сказав, що Один Він, і нема іншого, окрім Нього,

Then the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth, that God is one, and there is none other outside of him;

33 і що Любити Його всім серцем, і всім розумом, і всією душею, і з цілої сили, і що Любити свого ближнього, як самого себе, це важливіше за всі цілопалення й жертви!

and to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the soul and with all the strength and to love his neighbour as himself is more than all the burnt offerings and sacrifices.

34 І сус же, побачивши, що розумно той відповідь дав, промовив до нього: Ти недалеко від Божого Царства! І ніхто не насмілювався вже питати Його.

Then Jesus, seeing that he responded wisely, said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no man after that dared ask him any question.

35 П отому Ісус відповів і промовив, у храмі навчаючи: Як то книжники кажуть, що ніби Христос син Давидів?

¶ And answering, Jesus said, while he taught in the temple, How do the scribes say that the Christ is Son of David?

36 А дже той Давид Святим Духом сказав: Промовив Господь Господеві моєму: сядь праворуч Мене, доки не покладу Я Твоїх ворогів підніжком ногам Твоїм!

For David himself said by the Holy Spirit, The LORD said to my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.

37 С ам Давид Його Господом зве, як же Він йому син? І багато людей залюбки Його слухали.

David therefore himself calls him Lord, and where then is he his son? And the many people heard him gladly.

38 В ін же казав у науці Своїй: Стережіться тих книжників, що люблять у довгих одежах проходжуватись, і привіти на ринках,

And he said unto them in his doctrine, Beware of the scribes, who love to go in long clothing and love the salutations in the marketplaces

39 і перші лавки в синагогах, і перші місця на прийняттях,

and the first chairs in the synagogues and the first seats at the suppers,

40 щ о вдовині хати поїдають, і моляться довго напоказ, вони тяжче осудження приймуть!

which devour widows’ houses and for a pretence make long prayers: these shall receive greater judgment.

41 І сів Він навпроти скарбниці, і дививсь, як народ мідяки до скарбниці вкидає. І багато заможних укидали багато.

¶ And with Jesus sitting in front of the ark of the offering, he beheld how the people cast money into the ark and many that were rich cast in much.

42 І підійшла одна вбога вдовиця, і поклала дві лепті, цебто гріш.

And as there came a certain poor widow, she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43 І покликав Він учнів Своїх та й промовив до них: Поправді кажу вам, що ця вбога вдовиця поклала найбільше за всіх, хто клав у скарбницю.

Then calling his disciples, he said unto them, Verily I say unto you that this poor widow has cast more in than all those who have cast into the treasury,

44 Б о всі клали від лишка свого, а вона поклала з убозтва свого все, що мала, свій прожиток увесь...

for they all did cast in of their abundance, but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.
