1 А по цих пригодах, за царювання Артаксеркса, царя перського, Ездра, син Азарії, сина Хійлкійї,

¶ Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, Ezra, the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

2 с ина Шаллуна, сина Садока, сина Ахітуви,

the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

3 с ина Амарії, сина Азарії, сина Мерайота,

the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

4 с ина Захарія, сина Уззі, сина Буккі,

the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

5 с ина Авішуї, сина Пінхаса, сина Елеазара, сина Аарона, первосвященика,

the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the first priest.

6 ц ей Ездра вийшов із Вавилону, а він був учитель, знавець Мойсеєвого Закону, що його дав Господь, Бог Ізраїлів. І дав йому цар згідно з тим, як була на ньому рука Господа, Бога його, всяке його пожадання.

This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a diligent scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

7 І пішли з ним дехто з Ізраїлевих синів, і з священиків, і Левитів, і співаків, і придверних, і храмових підданців до Єрусалиму сьомого року царя Артаксеркса.

And there went up some of the sons of Israel and of the priests and the Levites and the singers and the porters and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes, the king.

8 І прибув він до Єрусалиму п'ятого місяця, а то сьомий рік царювання.

And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, in the seventh year of the king.

9 Б о першого дня місяця першого був початок виходу з Вавилону, а першого дня п'ятого місяця він прийшов до Єрусалиму, бо рука його Бога була добра на ньому.

For upon the first of the first month he began to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

10 Б о Ездра приготовив своє серце досліджувати Господнього Закона, і виконувати його, і навчати в Ізраїлі устава та права.

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD and to do it and to teach in Israel his statutes and judgments.

11 А оце відпис писання, що цар Артаксеркс дав священикові Ездрі, учителеві, що пише слова заповідей Господа та Його устави над Ізраїлем:

¶ Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra, the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD and of his statutes over Israel.

12 А ртаксеркс, цар над царями, до священика Ездри, досконалого вчителя Закону Бога Небесного, і так далі.

Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra, the priest, perfect scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and to Cheenet.

13 А ось виданий від мене наказ, щоб кожен, хто в моїм царстві з Ізраїлевого народу, і їхніх священиків, і Левитів з доброї волі бажає йти до Єрусалиму з тобою, нехай іде,

By me is given commandment, that any of the people of Israel and of his priests and Levites in my realm, who desire of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

14 ч ерез те, що ти посланий від царя та семи його дорадників, щоб дослідити про Юдею та про Єрусалим за правом твого Бога, правом, що в руці твоїй,

For thou art sent on behalf of the king and of his seven counsellors, to inquire of Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand,

15 і щоб відправити срібло та золото, що цар та дорадники його пожертвували для Бога Ізраїлевого, Якого місце перебування в Єрусалимі,

and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors freely offer unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

16 і все срібло та золото, яке ти знайдеш у всій вавилонській окрузі разом із пожертвами народу та священиків, які жертвують для дому їхнього Бога, що в Єрусалимі.

and all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people and of the priests, who offer willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem;

17 Т ому ти невідкладно купиш за це срібло биків, баранів, овечок, і їх жертви хлібні та їх жертви ливні, і принесеш їх на жертівнику дому вашого Бога, що в Єрусалимі.

Therefore, with diligence thou shalt buy with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their presents and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

18 А що тобі та браттям твоїм буде добре вчинити з рештою срібла та золота, те зробіть за вподобанням вашого Бога.

And whatever shall seem good to thee and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.

19 А посуд, що даний тобі на служення дому твого Бога, віддай у цілості перед Богом Єрусалиму.

The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, thou shalt restore before the God of Jerusalem.

20 А решта потрібного для дому Бога твого, що випаде тобі дати, буде дана з дому царських скарбів.

And whatever else shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have need to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure house.

21 А від мене я цар Артаксеркс виданий наказ для всіх скарбників, що в Заріччі, що все, чого зажадає від вас священик Ездра, учитель Закону Бога Небесного, нехай буде докладно зроблене:

And by me, Artaxerxes, the king, is given the commandment to all the treasurers who are on the other side of the river, that whatever Ezra, the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

22 с рібла аж до сотні талантів, і пшениці аж до сотні корів, і вина аж до сотні батів, і оливи аж до сотні батів, за соли без запису.

unto one hundred talents of silver and to one hundred measures of wheat and to one hundred baths of wine and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

23 У се, що з наказу Небесного Бога, нехай буде горливо зроблене для дому Небесного Бога, бо нащо був би гнів на царство царя та на синів його?

Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be speedily done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

24 І вас завідомляємо, що всі священики та Левити, співаки, придверні, храмові підданці та працівники того Божого дому вільні, данини, податку, чи мита не належить накладати на них!

Also unto you we cause it to be known, that regarding all of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, and ministers of the house of this God, no one shall be able to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.

25 А ти, Ездро, за мудрістю Бога твого, яка в руці твоїй, попризначай суддів та виконавців Закону, щоб судили для всього народу, що в Заріччі, для всіх, хто знає закони твого Бога, а хто не знає, тих навчите.

And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thy hand, set as judges and governors, who govern all the people that are on the other side of the river, all such as know the laws of thy God, and teach those that do not know them.

26 А кожен, хто не буде виконувати Закона твого Бога та закона царського докладно, щоб чинився над ним суд: чи то на смерть, чи то на вигнання, чи то на кару маєткову, чи то на ув'язнення.

And whoever will not do the law of thy God and the law of the king, let them be judged speedily, whether it be unto death or to banishment or to confiscation of goods or to imprisonment.

27 Б лагословенний Господь, Бог наших батьків, що вклав у цареве серце, щоб оздобити дім Господній, що в Єрусалимі,

¶ Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to honour the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem,

28 а на мене нахилив милість перед царем та його дорадниками, та всіма хоробрими царевими зверхниками! А я зміцнився, бо рука Господа, Бога, була надо мною, і я зібрав провідних людей з Ізраїля, щоб вони пішли зо мною.

and has extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I, comforted according to the hand of the LORD my God upon me, gathered together the principals of Israel to go up with me.
