1 P asadas estas cosas, en el reinado de Artajerjes rey de Persia, Esdras hijo de Seraías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Hilcías,

¶ Now after these things, in the reign of Artaxerxes, king of Persia, Ezra, the son of Seraiah, the son of Azariah, the son of Hilkiah,

2 h ijo de Salum, hijo de Sadoc, hijo de Ahitub,

the son of Shallum, the son of Zadok, the son of Ahitub,

3 h ijo de Amarías, hijo de Azarías, hijo de Merayot,

the son of Amariah, the son of Azariah, the son of Meraioth,

4 h ijo de Zeraías, hijo de Uzí, hijo de Buquí,

the son of Zerahiah, the son of Uzzi, the son of Bukki,

5 h ijo de Abisúa, hijo de Fineés, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, primer sacerdote,

the son of Abishua, the son of Phinehas, the son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, the first priest.

6 s ubió de Babilonia. Era este Esdras escriba diligente en la ley de Moisés, que Jehová Dios de Israel había dado; y le concedió el rey todo lo que pidió, porque la mano de Jehová su Dios estaba sobre él.

This Ezra went up from Babylon, and he was a diligent scribe in the law of Moses, which the LORD God of Israel had given; and the king granted him all his request, according to the hand of the LORD his God upon him.

7 Y con él subieron a Jerusalén algunos de los hijos de Israel, y de los sacerdotes, levitas, cantores, porteros y sirvientes del templo, en el séptimo año del rey Artajerjes.

And there went up some of the sons of Israel and of the priests and the Levites and the singers and the porters and the Nethinims, unto Jerusalem, in the seventh year of Artaxerxes, the king.

8 Y llegó a Jerusalén en el mes quinto del año séptimo del rey.

And he came to Jerusalem in the fifth month, in the seventh year of the king.

9 P ues había fijado para el día primero del primer mes su salida de Babilonia, y al primero del mes quinto llegó a Jerusalén, estando con él la buena mano de Dios.

For upon the first of the first month he began to go up from Babylon, and on the first day of the fifth month he came to Jerusalem, according to the good hand of his God upon him.

10 P orque Esdras había preparado su corazón para escudriñar la ley de Jehová y para cumplirla, y para enseñar en Israel sus estatutos y decretos. El decreto de Artajerjes

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD and to do it and to teach in Israel his statutes and judgments.

11 E sta es la copia de la carta que dio el rey Artajerjes al sacerdote Esdras, escriba versado en los mandamientos de Jehová y en sus estatutos a Israel:

¶ Now this is the copy of the letter that the king Artaxerxes gave unto Ezra, the priest, the scribe, a scribe of the words of the commandments of the LORD and of his statutes over Israel.

12 A rtajerjes rey de reyes, a Esdras, sacerdote y escriba erudito en la ley del Dios del cielo: Paz.

Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra, the priest, perfect scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and to Cheenet.

13 P or mí es dada orden que todo aquel en mi reino, del pueblo de Israel y de sus sacerdotes y levitas, que quiera ir contigo a Jerusalén, vaya.

By me is given commandment, that any of the people of Israel and of his priests and Levites in my realm, who desire of their own freewill to go up to Jerusalem, go with thee.

14 P orque de parte del rey y de sus siete consejeros eres enviado a inspeccionar Judea y Jerusalén, conforme a la ley de tu Dios que está en tu mano;

For thou art sent on behalf of the king and of his seven counsellors, to inquire of Judah and Jerusalem, according to the law of thy God which is in thy hand,

15 y a llevar la plata y el oro que el rey y sus consejeros voluntariamente ofrecen al Dios de Israel, cuya morada está en Jerusalén,

and to carry the silver and gold, which the king and his counsellors freely offer unto the God of Israel, whose habitation is in Jerusalem,

16 y toda la plata y el oro que halles en toda la provincia de Babilonia, con las ofrendas voluntarias del pueblo y de los sacerdotes, que voluntariamente ofrezcan para la casa de su Dios, la cual está en Jerusalén.

and all the silver and gold that thou canst find in all the province of Babylon, with the freewill offering of the people and of the priests, who offer willingly for the house of their God which is in Jerusalem;

17 C omprarás, pues, diligentemente con este dinero becerros, carneros y corderos, con sus ofrendas y sus libaciones, y los ofrecerás sobre el altar de la casa de vuestro Dios, la cual está en Jerusalén.

Therefore, with diligence thou shalt buy with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their presents and their drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.

18 Y lo que a ti y a tus hermanos os parezca hacer de la otra plata y oro, hacedlo conforme a la voluntad de vuestro Dios.

And whatever shall seem good to thee and to thy brethren, to do with the rest of the silver and the gold, that do after the will of your God.

19 L os utensilios que te son entregados para el servicio de la casa de tu Dios, los restituirás delante de Dios en Jerusalén.

The vessels also that are given thee for the service of the house of thy God, thou shalt restore before the God of Jerusalem.

20 Y todo lo que se requiere para la casa de tu Dios, que te sea necesario dar, lo darás de la casa de los tesoros del rey.

And whatever else shall be needful for the house of thy God, which thou shalt have need to bestow, bestow it out of the king’s treasure house.

21 Y por mí, Artajerjes rey, es dada orden a todos los tesoreros que están al otro lado del río, que todo lo que os pida el sacerdote Esdras, escriba de la ley del Dios del cielo, se le conceda prontamente,

And by me, Artaxerxes, the king, is given the commandment to all the treasurers who are on the other side of the river, that whatever Ezra, the priest, the scribe of the law of the God of heaven, shall require of you, it be done speedily,

22 h asta cien talentos de plata, cien coros de trigo, cien batos de vino, y cien batos de aceite; y sal sin medida.

unto one hundred talents of silver and to one hundred measures of wheat and to one hundred baths of wine and to one hundred baths of oil, and salt without prescribing how much.

23 T odo lo que es mandado por el Dios del cielo, sea hecho prontamente para la casa del Dios del cielo; para que no caiga su ira sobre el reino del rey y de sus hijos.

Whatever is commanded by the God of heaven, let it be speedily done for the house of the God of heaven: for why should there be wrath against the realm of the king and his sons?

24 O s hacemos saber también que a todos los sacerdotes y levitas, cantores, porteros, sirvientes del templo y ministros de la casa de Dios, nadie podrá imponerles tributo, contribución ni renta.

Also unto you we cause it to be known, that regarding all of the priests and Levites, singers, porters, Nethinims, and ministers of the house of this God, no one shall be able to impose toll, tribute, or custom, upon them.

25 Y tú, Esdras, conforme a la sabiduría que tienes de tu Dios, pon jueces y gobernadores que gobiernen a todo el pueblo que está al otro lado del río, a todos los que conocen las leyes de tu Dios; y al que no las conoce, le enseñarás.

And thou, Ezra, after the wisdom of thy God, that is in thy hand, set as judges and governors, who govern all the people that are on the other side of the river, all such as know the laws of thy God, and teach those that do not know them.

26 Y cualquiera que no cumpla la ley de tu Dios, y la ley del rey, sea juzgado prontamente, sea a muerte, a destierro, a pena de multa, o prisión. Viaje de Esdras de Babilonia a Palestina

And whoever will not do the law of thy God and the law of the king, let them be judged speedily, whether it be unto death or to banishment or to confiscation of goods or to imprisonment.

27 B endito sea Jehová, Dios de nuestros padres, que puso tal cosa en el corazón del rey, para honrar la casa de Jehová que está en Jerusalén,

¶ Blessed be the LORD God of our fathers, who has put such a thing as this in the king’s heart, to honour the house of the LORD which is in Jerusalem,

28 e inclinó hacia mí su misericordia delante del rey y de sus consejeros, y de todos los príncipes poderosos del rey. Y yo, fortalecido por la mano de mi Dios sobre mí, reuní a los principales de Israel para que subiesen conmigo.

and has extended mercy unto me before the king, and his counsellors and before all the king’s mighty princes. And I, comforted according to the hand of the LORD my God upon me, gathered together the principals of Israel to go up with me.
