1 E ntonces Jesús fue llevado por el Espíritu al desierto, para ser tentado por el diablo.

¶ Then Jesus was led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.

2 Y después de haber ayunado cuarenta días y cuarenta noches, al final tuvo hambre.

And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, afterwards he was hungry.

3 Y acercándosele el tentador, le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, di que estas piedras se conviertan en panes.

And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou art the Son of God, command that these stones be made into bread.

4 É l respondió y dijo: Escrito está: No sólo de pan vivirá el hombre, sino de toda palabra que sale de la boca de Dios.

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.

5 E ntonces el diablo le llevó a la santa ciudad, y le puso en pie sobre el alero del templo,

Then the devil took him up into the holy city and set him on a pinnacle of the temple

6 y le dijo: Si eres Hijo de Dios, échate abajo; porque escrito está: A sus ángeles les encargará acerca de ti, y: Te llevarán en sus manos, Para que no tropiece tu pie contra una piedra.

and said unto him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, and in their hands they shall bear thee up lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 J esús le dijo: También está escrito: No tentarás al Señor tu Dios.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 D e nuevo le llevó el diablo a un monte muy alto, y le mostró todos los reinos del mundo y la gloria de ellos,

Again, the devil took him up into an exceeding high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them

9 y le dijo: Todo esto te daré, si postrado me adoras.

and said unto him, All these things I will give thee if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 E ntonces Jesús le dijo: Vete, Satanás, porque está escrito: Al Señor tu Dios adorarás, y a él solo servirás.

Then Jesus said unto him, Get thee hence, Satan, for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 E ntonces le dejó el diablo; y he aquí que se le acercaron unos ángeles y le servían. Jesús empieza su ministerio

Then the devil left him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

12 C uando Jesús oyó que Juan estaba preso, volvió a Galilea;

¶ Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he returned to Galilee;

13 y dejando Nazaret, vino y habitó en Capernaúm, la de junto al mar, en los confines de Zabulón y de Neftalí,

and leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zebulun and Naphtali,

14 p ara que se cumpliese lo dicho por medio del profeta Isaías, cuando dijo:

that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying,

15 T ierra de Zabulón y tierra de Neftalí, Camino del mar, al otro lado del Jordán, Galilea de los gentiles;

The land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

16 E l pueblo asentado en tinieblas vio una gran luz; Y a los asentados en región de sombra de muerte, Les ha amanecido una luz.

the people who sat in darkness saw great light, and to those who sat in the region and shadow of death, light is sprung up.

17 D esde entonces comenzó Jesús a predicar, y a decir: Arrepentíos, porque el reino de los cielos se ha acercado.

From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, Repent, for the kingdom of the heavens is at hand.

18 A ndando Jesús junto al mar de Galilea, vio a dos hermanos, Simón el llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano, que echaban la red en el mar; porque eran pescadores.

¶ And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brothers, Simon, called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers.

19 Y les dijo: Venid en pos de mí, y os haré pescadores de hombres.

And he said unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

20 E llos entonces, dejando al instante las redes, le siguieron.

And they straightway left their nets and followed him.

21 P asando de allí, vio a otros dos hermanos, Jacobo hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano, en la barca con Zebedeo su padre, que remendaban sus redes; y los llamó.

And going on from there, he saw another two brothers, James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets, and he called them.

22 Y ellos, dejando al instante la barca y a su padre, le siguieron.

And they immediately left the ship and their father and followed him.

23 Y recorría Jesús toda la Galilea, enseñando en las sinagogas de ellos, predicando el evangelio del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia en el pueblo.

¶ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom and healing every sickness and every bodily weakness among the people.

24 Y se difundió su fama por toda la Siria; y le trajeron todos los que se encontraban mal por diversas enfermedades, los que sufrían graves padecimientos, los endemoniados, los lunáticos y paralíticos; y los sanó.

And his fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with diverse diseases and torments and those who were possessed with devils and those who were lunatic and those that were paralyzed; and he healed them.

25 Y le siguió mucha gente de Galilea, de Decápolis, de Jerusalén, de Judea y del otro lado del Jordán.

And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, from Decapolis, from Jerusalem, from Judaea and from beyond Jordan.
