1 P ero acerca de los tiempos y de las sazones, no tenéis necesidad, hermanos, de que yo os escriba.

¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 P orque vosotros mismos sabéis perfectamente que el día del Señor vendrá del mismo modo que un ladrón en la noche.

For ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night.

3 C uando estén diciendo: Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción repentina, como los dolores a la mujer encinta, y no escaparán de ningún modo.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 M as vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os sorprenda como un ladrón.

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should take you as a thief.

5 P orque todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz e hijos del día; no somos de la noche ni de las tinieblas.

Ye are all the sons of light, and the sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 P or tanto, no durmamos como los demás, sino velemos y seamos sobrios.

¶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 P ues los que duermen, de noche duermen, y los que se embriagan, de noche se embriagan.

For those that sleep in the night, and those that are drunken are drunken in the night.

8 P ero nosotros, que somos del día, seamos sobrios, habiéndonos vestido con la coraza de fe y amor, y con la esperanza de salvación como yelmo.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet, the hope of saving health.

9 P orque no nos ha puesto Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salvación por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo,

For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain saving health by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 q uien murió por nosotros para que, ya sea que velemos, o que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.

who died for us, that whether we watch or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 P or lo cual, animaos unos a otros, y edificaos unos a otros, así como lo hacéis. Pablo exhorta a los creyentes

¶ Therefore comfort and edify one another, even as ye do.

12 O s rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis a los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan;

And we beseech you, brethren, to recognize those who labour among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you

13 y que los tengáis en mucha estima con amor por causa de su obra. Tened paz entre vosotros.

and that you express greater charity unto them for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14 T ambién os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis a los ociosos, que alentéis a los de poco ánimo, que sostengáis a los débiles, que seáis pacientes para con todos.

We also exhort you, brethren, that you warn those that are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with everyone.

15 M irad que ninguno devuelva a otro mal por mal; antes seguid siempre lo bueno unos para con otros, y para con todos.

See that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men.

16 E stad siempre gozosos.

¶ Always rejoice.

17 O rad sin cesar.

Pray without ceasing.

18 D ad gracias en todo, porque ésta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.

In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19 N o apaguéis el Espíritu.

Quench not the Spirit.

20 N o menospreciéis las profecías.

Despise not prophecies.

21 E xaminadlo todo; retened lo bueno.

Examine all things; retain that which is good.

22 A bsteneos de toda especie de mal.

Separate yourselves from all appearance of evil.

23 Y el mismo Dios de paz os santifique por completo; y todo vuestro ser, espíritu, alma y cuerpo, sea guardado irreprensible para la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.

¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you completely, that your spirit, soul, and body be preserved whole without reprehension for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 F iel es el que os llama, el cual también lo hará. Saludos y bendición final

Faithful is he that has called you, who will also do it.

25 H ermanos, orad por nosotros.

Brethren, pray for us.

26 S aludad a todos los hermanos con beso santo.

Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

27 O s conjuro por el Señor, que esta carta se lea a todos los santos hermanos.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28 L a gracia de nuestro Señor Jesucristo sea con vosotros. Amén.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
