1 ¶ Pero acerca de los tiempos y de los momentos, no tenéis, hermanos, necesidad de que yo os escriba,

¶ But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.

2 p orque vosotros sabéis bien, que el día del Señor vendrá como ladrón de noche,

For ye know well that the day of the Lord shall come as a thief in the night.

3 q ue cuando dirán: Paz y seguridad, entonces vendrá sobre ellos destrucción de repente, como los dolores a la mujer encinta; y no escaparán.

For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction shall come upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

4 M as vosotros, hermanos, no estáis en tinieblas, para que aquel día os tome como ladrón;

But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should take you as a thief.

5 p orque todos vosotros sois hijos de la luz, e hijos del día; no somos de la noche, ni de las tinieblas.

Ye are all the sons of light, and the sons of the day; we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

6 ¶ Por tanto, no durmamos como los demás; antes velemos y seamos sobrios.

¶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.

7 P orque los que duermen, de noche duermen; y los que están borrachos, de noche están borrachos.

For those that sleep in the night, and those that are drunken are drunken in the night.

8 M as nosotros, que somos hijos del día, estemos sobrios, vestidos de cota de fe y de caridad, y la esperanza de la salud por yelmo.

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and charity, and for a helmet, the hope of saving health.

9 P orque no nos ha ordenado Dios para ira, sino para alcanzar salud por el Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo,

For God has not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain saving health by our Lord Jesus Christ,

10 e l cual murió por nosotros, para que sea que velemos, o que durmamos, vivamos juntamente con él.

who died for us, that whether we watch or sleep, we should live together with him.

11 ¶ Por lo cual, consolaos y edifi-caos los unos a los otros, así como lo hacéis.

¶ Therefore comfort and edify one another, even as ye do.

12 Y os rogamos, hermanos, que reconozcáis a los que trabajan entre vosotros, y os presiden en el Señor, y os amonestan;

And we beseech you, brethren, to recognize those who labour among you and preside over you in the Lord and admonish you

13 y que los tengáis en mayor caridad por amor de su obra. Tened paz los unos con los otros.

and that you express greater charity unto them for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

14 T ambién os rogamos, hermanos, que amonestéis a los que andan desordenadamente, que consoléis a los de poco ánimo, que soportéis a los flacos, que seáis sufridos para con todos.

We also exhort you, brethren, that you warn those that are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, support the weak, be patient with everyone.

15 M irad que ninguno dé a otro mal por mal; antes seguid lo bueno siempre los unos para con los otros, y para con todos.

See that no one renders evil for evil unto anyone, but always follow that which is good, both among yourselves and to all men.

16 ¶ Estad siempre gozosos.

¶ Always rejoice.

17 O rad sin cesar.

Pray without ceasing.

18 D ad gracias en todo; porque esta es la voluntad de Dios para con vosotros en Cristo Jesús.

In every thing give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

19 N o apaguéis el Espíritu.

Quench not the Spirit.

20 N o menospreciéis las profecías.

Despise not prophecies.

21 E xaminadlo todo; retened lo que fuere bueno.

Examine all things; retain that which is good.

22 A partaos de toda apariencia de mal.

Separate yourselves from all appearance of evil.

23 ¶ Y el Dios de paz os santifique completamente; para que vuestro espíritu, alma y cuerpo sea guardado entero sin reprensión para la venida del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo.

¶ And the very God of peace sanctify you completely, that your spirit, soul, and body be preserved whole without reprehension for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

24 F iel es el que os ha llamado; el cual también lo hará.

Faithful is he that has called you, who will also do it.

25 H ermanos, orad por nosotros.

Brethren, pray for us.

26 S aludad a todos los hermanos con ósculo santo.

Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss.

27 O s amonesto por el Señor, que esta carta sea leída a todos los santos hermanos.

I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.

28 L a gracia del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, sea con vosotros. Amén.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
