1 ¶ Habiendo dicho Jesús estas cosas, salió con sus discípulos tras el arroyo de Cedrón, donde había un huerto, en el cual entró Jesús y sus discípulos.

¶ When Jesus had spoken these things, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where there was a garden, into which he entered, and his disciples.

2 Y también Judas, el que le entregaba, conocía aquel lugar; porque muchas veces Jesús se juntaba allí con sus discípulos.

And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place: for Jesus gathered there often with his disciples.

3 J udas pues tomando una compañía de soldados, y ministros de los sumos sacerdotes y de los fariseos, vino allí con linternas y antorchas, y con armas.

Judas then, taking a company of soldiers and ministers of the high priests and of the Pharisees, came there with lanterns and torches and weapons.

4 P ero Jesús, sabiendo todas las cosas que habían de venir sobre él, salió delante, y les dijo: ¿A quién buscáis?

Jesus therefore, knowing all the things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye?

5 L e respondieron: A Jesús Nazareno. Les dice Jesús: YO SOY (Y estaba también con ellos Judas, el que le entregaba.)

They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus said unto them, I AM. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.

6 Y cuando les dijo, YO SOY, volvieron atrás, y cayeron a tierra.

And when he said unto them, I AM, they went backward and fell to the ground.

7 L es volvió, pues, a preguntar: ¿A quién buscáis? Y ellos dijeron: A Jesús Nazareno.

Then he asked them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

8 R espondió Jesús: Ya os he dicho que YO SOY; pues si a mí me buscáis, dejad ir a éstos.

Jesus answered, I have told you that I AM; if, therefore, ye seek me, let these go away,

9 P ara que se cumpliera la palabra que había dicho: De los que me diste, ninguno de ellos perdí.

that the word might be fulfilled, which he spoke, Of those whom thou gavest me I have lost none.

10 E ntonces Simón Pedro, que tenía espada, la sacó, e hirió a un siervo del sumo sacerdote, y le cortó la oreja derecha. Y el siervo se llamaba Malco.

Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and smote the high priest’s slave and cut off his right ear. The slave’s name was Malchus.

11 J esús entonces dijo a Pedro: Mete tu espada en la vaina; el vaso que el Padre me ha dado, ¿no lo tengo que beber?

Then Jesus said unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath; the cup which my Father has given me, shall I not drink it?

12 E ntonces la compañía de los soldados y el tribuno, y los ministros de los judíos, prendieron a Jesús y le ataron.

Then the company of soldiers and the tribune and the ministers of the Jews took Jesus and bound him

13 ¶ Y le llevaron primeramente a Anás; porque era suegro de Caifás, el cual era sumo sacerdote de aquel año, (y él le envió atado a Caifás, el sumo sacerdote.)

¶ and led him away to Annas first, for he was father-in-law to Caiaphas, who was the high priest of that year and he sent him bound unto Caiaphas, the high priest.

14 Y era Caifás el que había dado el consejo a los judíos, que era necesario que un hombre muriera por el pueblo.

Now Caiaphas was he who had given the counsel to the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.

15 Y seguían a Jesús Simón Pedro, y otro discípulo. Y aquel discípulo era conocido del sumo sacerdote, y entró con Jesús al atrio del sumo sacerdote;

And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple; that disciple was known unto the high priest and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.

16 m as Pedro estaba fuera a la puerta. Y salió aquel discípulo que era conocido del sumo sacerdote, y habló a la portera, y metió dentro a Pedro.

But Peter stood at the door without. Then that other disciple, who was known unto the high priest, went out and spoke unto her that kept the door and brought in Peter.

17 E ntonces la criada portera dijo a Pedro: ¿No eres tú también de los discípulos de este hombre? Dice él: No soy.

Then the damsel that kept the door said unto Peter, Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He said, I am not.

18 Y estaban en pie los siervos y los ministros que habían encendido las ascuas; porque hacía frío, y se calentaban; y estaba también con ellos Pedro en pie, calentándose.

And the slaves and servants stood there, who had made a fire of coals, for it was cold, and they warmed themselves; and Peter stood with them and warmed himself.

19 Y el sumo sacerdote preguntó a Jesús acerca de sus discípulos y de su doctrina.

The high priest then asked Jesus of his disciples and of his doctrine.

20 J esús le respondió: Yo manifiestamente he hablado al mundo; yo siempre he enseñado en la sinagoga y en el Templo, donde se juntan todos los judíos, y nada he hablado en oculto.

Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews gather; and I have said nothing in secret.

21 ¿ Qué me preguntas a mí? Pregunta a los que han oído, qué les haya yo hablado; he aquí, ellos saben lo que yo he dicho.

Why dost thou ask me? Ask those who heard me what I have said unto them; behold, they know what I said.

22 Y como él hubo dicho esto, uno de los criados que estaba allí, dio una bofetada a Jesús, diciendo: ¿Así respondes al sumo sacerdote?

And when he had thus spoken, one of the servants who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

23 L e respondió Jesús: Si he hablado mal, da testimonio del mal; y si bien, ¿por qué me hieres?

Jesus answered him, If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil, but if well, why dost thou smite me?

24 A sí lo envió Anás atado a Caifás, el sumo sacerdote.

Thus Annas sent him bound unto Caiaphas the high priest.

25 E staba pues Pedro en pie calentándose. Y le dijeron: ¿No eres tú de sus discípulos? El negó, y dijo: No soy.

And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it and said, I am not.

26 U no de los siervos del sumo sacerdote, pariente de aquel a quien Pedro había cortado la oreja, le dijo: ¿No te vi yo en el huerto con él?

One of the slaves of the high priest, kinsman of the one whose ear Peter had cut off, said, Did I not see thee in the garden with him?

27 Y negó Pedro otra vez; y luego el gallo cantó.

Peter then denied again, and immediately the cock crew.

28 ¶ Y llevaron a Jesús de Caifás al pretorio; y era por la mañana; y ellos no entraron en el pretorio para no ser contaminados, sino que comieran el cordero de la pascua.

¶ Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment, and it was early; and they themselves did not go into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the passover.

29 E ntonces salió Pilato a ellos fuera, y dijo: ¿Qué acusación traéis contra este hombre?

Pilate then went out unto them and said, What accusation bring ye against this man?

30 R espondieron y le dijeron: Si éste no fuera malhechor, no te lo habríamos entregado.

They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.

31 L es dice entonces Pilato: Tomadle vosotros, y juzgadle según vuestra ley. Y los judíos le dijeron: A nosotros no nos es lícito matar a nadie;

Then Pilate said unto them, Take him, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death;

32 p ara que se cumpliera el dicho de Jesús, que había dicho, señalando de qué muerte había de morir.

that the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spoke, signifying what death he should die.

33 A sí que, Pilato volvió a entrar en el pretorio, y llamó a Jesús, y le dijo: ¿Eres tú el Rey de los Judíos?

Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again and called Jesus and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?

34 L e respondió Jesús: ¿Dices tú esto de ti mismo, o te lo han dicho otros de mí?

Jesus answered him, Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it unto thee of me?

35 P ilato respondió: ¿Soy yo judío? Tu nación, y los sumos sacerdotes, te han entregado a mí; ¿qué has hecho?

Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me; what hast thou done?

36 R espondió Jesús: Mi Reino no es de este mundo; si de este mundo fuera mi Reino, mis servidores pelearían para que yo no fuera entregado a los judíos; ahora, pues, mi Reino no es de aquí.

Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world; if my kingdom were of this world, then my servants would fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews; now, therefore, my kingdom is not from here.

37 L e dijo entonces Pilato: ¿Luego Rey eres tú? Respondió Jesús: Tú dices que YO SOY Rey. Yo para esto he nacido, y para esto he venido al mundo, para dar testimonio a la Verdad. Todo aquel que es de la Verdad, oye mi voz.

Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I AM king. To this end I was born, and for this cause I came into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth hears my voice.

38 L e dice Pilato: ¿Qué cosa es la Verdad? Y como hubo dicho esto, salió otra vez a los judíos, y les dice: Yo no hallo en él ningún crimen.

Pilate said unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and said unto them, I find no fault at all in him.

39 P ero vosotros tenéis costumbre, que os suelte uno en la Pascua, ¿queréis, pues, que os suelte al Rey de los Judíos?

But ye have a custom, that I should release unto you one at the passover; will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?

40 E ntonces todos dieron voces otra vez, diciendo: No a éste, sino a Barrabás. Y este Barrabás era ladrón.

Then they all cried again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
