1 E n el año dieciocho del rey Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, Abiam comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

¶ Now in the eighteenth year of King Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, Abijam began to reign over Judah.

2 R einó tres años en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Maaca, hija de Abisalom.

He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

3 Y anduvo en todos los pecados de su padre, que había hecho éste antes de él; y no fue su corazón perfecto con el SEÑOR su Dios, como el corazón de David su padre.

And he walked in all the sins of his father, which he had done before him; and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as the heart of David his father.

4 M as por amor de David, le dio el SEÑOR su Dios lámpara en Jerusalén, despertándole a su hijo después de él, y confirmando a Jerusalén.

Nevertheless for David’s sake, the LORD his God gave him a lamp in Jerusalem, to set up his son after him and to establish Jerusalem.

5 P or cuanto David había hecho lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, y de ninguna cosa que le mandara se había apartado en todos los días de su vida, excepto el negocio de Urías, el heteo.

Because David had done that which was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from any thing that he had commanded him all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah, the Hittite.

6 Y hubo guerra entre Roboam y Jeroboam todos los días de su vida.

And there was war between Rehoboam and Jeroboam all the days of his life.

7 L os demás hechos de Abiam, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no están escritas en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Y hubo guerra entre Abiam y Jeroboam.

Now the rest of the acts of Abijam and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? And there was war between Abijam and Jeroboam.

8 Y durmió Abiam con sus padres, y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David; y reinó Asa su hijo en su lugar.

And Abijam slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David, and Asa, his son, reigned in his stead.

9 E n el año veinte de Jeroboam rey de Israel, Asa comenzó a reinar sobre Judá.

¶ In the twentieth year of Jeroboam, king of Israel, Asa began to reign over Judah.

10 Y reinó cuarenta y un años en Jerusalén; el nombre de su madre fue Maaca, hija de Abisalom.

And he reigned forty-one years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Maachah, the daughter of Abishalom.

11 Y Asa hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, como David su padre.

And Asa did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, as did David his father.

12 P orque quitó los prostitutos del culto pagano de la tierra, y quitó todos los ídolos que sus padres habían hecho.

For he took away the male cult prostitutes out of the land and removed all the idols that his fathers had made.

13 Y también privó a su madre Maaca de ser reina, porque había hecho un ídolo en un bosque. Además deshizo Asa el ídolo de su madre, y lo quemó junto al arroyo de Cedrón.

And he also removed Maachah, his mother, from being queen because she had made an idol in a grove; and Asa destroyed her idol and burnt it by the brook Kidron.

14 M as los lugares altos no se quitaron; pero el corazón de Asa fue perfecto para con el SEÑOR toda su vida.

But the high places were not removed; nevertheless, Asa’s heart was perfect with the LORD all his days.

15 T ambién trajo a la Casa del SEÑOR lo que su padre había dedicado, y lo que él dedicó: oro, plata, y vasos.

And he brought in the things which his father had dedicated and the things which he himself had dedicated, into the house of the LORD, silver and gold and vessels.

16 Y hubo guerra entre Asa y Baasa rey de Israel, todo el tiempo de ambos.

And there was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, all their days.

17 ¶ Y subió Baasa rey de Israel contra Judá, y edificó a Ramá, para no dejar salir ni entrar a ninguno de Asa, rey de Judá.

And Baasha, king of Israel, went up against Judah and built Ramah, that he might not allow any to go out or come in to Asa, king of Judah.

18 E ntonces tomando Asa toda la plata y oro que había quedado en los tesoros de la Casa del SEÑOR, y los tesoros de la casa real, los entregó en las manos de sus siervos, y los envió el rey Asa a Ben-adad, hijo de Tabrimón, hijo de Hezión, rey de Siria, el cual residía en Damasco, diciendo:

Then Asa took all the silver and the gold that were left in the treasures of the house of the LORD and the treasures of the king’s house and delivered them into the hand of his slaves, and King Asa sent them to Benhadad, the son of Tabrimon, the son of Hezion, king of Syria, that dwelt at Damascus, saying,

19 P acto hay entre mí y ti, y entre mi padre y el tuyo; he aquí yo te envío un soborno de plata y oro; ve, y rompe tu pacto con Baasa rey de Israel, para que me deje.

There is a covenant between me and thee and between my father and thy father; behold, I have sent unto thee a bribe of silver and gold; come and break thy covenant with Baasha, king of Israel, that he may depart from me.

20 Y Ben-adad consintió con el rey Asa, y envió los príncipes de los ejércitos que tenía contra las ciudades de Israel, e hirió a Ijón, a Dan, a Abel-bet-maaca, y a toda Cineret, con toda la tierra de Neftalí.

So Benhadad hearkened unto King Asa and sent the princes of the hosts, which he had against the cities of Israel, and smote Ijon and Dan and Abelbethmaachah and all Cinneroth, with all the land of Naphtali.

21 Y oyendo esto Baasa, dejó de edificar a Ramá, y se estuvo en Tirsa.

And when Baasha heard this, he left off building of Ramah and dwelt in Tirzah.

22 E ntonces el rey Asa convocó a todo Judá, sin exceptuar ninguno; y quitaron de Ramá la piedra y la madera con que Baasa edificaba, y edificó el rey Asa con ello a Geba de Benjamín, y a Mizpa.

Then King Asa made a proclamation throughout all Judah; no one was exempted; and they took away the stones and timber of Ramah, with which Baasha had been building; and King Asa built with them Geba of Benjamin, and Mizpah.

23 ¶ Los demás hechos de Asa, y toda su fortaleza, y todas las cosas que hizo, y las ciudades que edificó, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá? Con todo eso en el tiempo de su vejez enfermó de sus pies.

The rest of all the acts of Asa and all his might and all that he did and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless, in the time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.

24 Y durmió Asa con sus padres, y fue sepultado con sus padres en la ciudad de David su padre; y reinó en su lugar Josafat su hijo.

And Asa slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, his father; and Jehoshaphat, his son, reigned in his stead.

25 ¶ Y Nadab, hijo de Jeroboam, comenzó a reinar sobre Israel en el segundo año de Asa rey de Judá; y reinó sobre Israel dos años.

¶ And Nadab, the son of Jeroboam, began to reign over Israel in the second year of Asa, king of Judah, and reigned over Israel two years.

26 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, andando en el camino de su padre, y en sus pecados con que hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sins with which he made Israel sin.

27 Y Baasa hijo de Ahías, el cual era de la casa de Isacar, hizo conspiración contra él; y lo hirió Baasa en Gibetón, que era de los filisteos; porque Nadab y todo Israel tenían cercado a Gibetón.

And Baasha, the son of Ahijah, of the house of Issachar, conspired against him; and Baasha smote him at Gibbethon, which belonged to the Philistines, for Nadab and all Israel had laid siege to Gibbethon.

28 L o mató pues Baasa en el tercer año de Asa rey de Judá, y reinó en lugar suyo.

Even in the third year of Asa, king of Judah, did Baasha slay him and reigned in his stead.

29 Y cuando él vino al reino, hirió toda la casa de Jeroboam, sin dejar alma viviente de los de Jeroboam, hasta raerlo, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR que él habló por su siervo Ahías, el silonita;

And when he came into the kingdom, he smote all the house of Jeroboam; he left not a living soul of those of Jeroboam, until he had destroyed him, according unto the word of the LORD, which he spoke by his slave Ahijah, the Shilonite,

30 p or los pecados de Jeroboam con los cuales él había pecado, y con los cuales hizo pecar a Israel; y por su provocación con que provocó a enojo al SEÑOR Dios de Israel.

because of the sins of Jeroboam with which he sinned and with which he made Israel sin and because of his provocation with which he provoked the LORD God of Israel to anger.

31 L os demás hechos de Nadab, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Nadab and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

32 Y hubo guerra entre Asa y Baasa rey de Israel, todo el tiempo de ambos.

And there was war between Asa and Baasha, king of Israel, all their days.

33 E n el tercer año de Asa rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Baasa hijo de Ahías sobre todo Israel en Tirsa; y reinó veinticuatro años.

In the third year of Asa, king of Judah, Baasha, the son of Ahijah, began to reign over all Israel in Tirzah; and he reigned twenty-four years.

34 E hizo lo malo delante de los ojos del SEÑOR, y anduvo en el camino de Jeroboam, y en su pecado con que hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of Jeroboam and in his sin with which he caused Israel to sin.
