1 Y respondió Job, y dijo:

¶ But Job answered and said,

2 O íd atentamente mi palabra, y sea esto por vuestros consuelos.

Hear diligently my speech, and let this be instead of your consolations.

3 S oportadme, y yo hablaré; y después que hubiere hablado, escarneced.

Suffer me that I may speak; and after I have spoken, mock on.

4 ¿ Por ventura quejo a algún hombre? Y si es así ¿por qué no se ha de angustiar mi espíritu?

As for me, is my complaint to man? And if so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

5 M iradme, y espantaos, y poned la mano sobre la boca.

Look upon me and be astonished and lay your hand upon your mouth.

6 A un yo mismo, cuando me acuerdo, me asombro, y toma temblor mi carne.

Even I myself, when I remember, I am afraid, and trembling takes hold on my flesh.

7 ¿ Por qué viven los impíos, y se envejecen, y aún crecen en riquezas?

¶ Why do the wicked live and become old and even increase in riches?

8 S u simiente con ellos, compuesta delante de ellos; y sus renuevos delante de sus ojos.

Their seed is with them, established in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.

9 S us casas seguras de temor, ni hay azote de Dios sobre ellos.

Their houses are safe from fear; neither is the rod of God upon them.

10 S us vacas conciben, no abortan; paren sus vacas, y no malogran su cría.

Their cows conceive, and do not abort; their cows calve and do not cast forth their young.

11 S alen sus chiquitos como manada de ovejas, y sus hijos andan saltando.

They send forth their little ones like a flock of sheep, and their children dance.

12 A l son de tamboril y cítara saltan, y se regocijan al son del órgano.

They jump at the sound of the timbrel and harp and rejoice at the sound of the organ.

13 G astan sus días en bien, y en un momento descienden al Seol.

They spend their days in pleasure and in a moment go down to Sheol.

14 D icen pues a Dios: Apártate de nosotros, que no queremos el conocimiento de tus caminos.

Therefore, they say unto God, Depart from us; for we do not desire the knowledge of thy ways.

15 ¿ Quién es el Todopoderoso, para que le sirvamos? ¿Y de qué nos aprovechará que oremos a él?

Who is the Almighty that we should serve him? And what profit should we have if we pray unto him?

16 H e aquí que su bien no está en manos de ellos; el consejo de los impíos lejos esté de mí.

Behold that their good is not in their hands; the counsel of the wicked is far from me.

17 ¶ ¡Oh cuántas veces el candil de los impíos es apagado, y viene sobre ellos su contrición, y con su ira Dios les reparte dolores!

¶ How often is the lamp of the wicked put out and their destruction comes upon them, and God distributes sorrows upon them in his anger.

18 S erán como la paja delante del viento, y como el tamo que arrebata el torbellino.

They shall be as stubble before the wind and as chaff taken up by the whirlwind.

19 D ios guardará para los hijos de ellos su violencia; y le dará su pago, para que conozca.

God shall lay up his violence for their sons; and he will reward him so that he shall know it.

20 V erán sus ojos su quebranto, y beberá de la ira del Todopoderoso.

His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the wrath of the Almighty.

21 P orque ¿qué deleite tendrá él de su casa después de sí, siendo cortado el número de sus meses?

For what delight shall he have in his house after him, being cut off in the number of his months?

22 ¿ Por ventura enseñará él a Dios conocimiento, juzgando él las alturas?

Shall he teach God knowledge, seeing he judges those that are high?

23 E ste morirá en la fortaleza de su hermosura, todo quieto y pacífico.

This one shall die in the full strength of his beauty, being completely at ease and quiet.

24 S us senos están llenos de leche, y sus huesos serán regados de tuétano.

His breasts are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.

25 Y este otro morirá en amargura de ánimo, y no habiendo comido jamás con gusto.

And another dies in the bitterness of his soul, never having eaten with pleasure.

26 I gualmente yacerán ellos en el polvo, y gusanos los cubrirán.

They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.

27 H e aquí, yo conozco vuestros pensamientos, y las imaginaciones que contra mí forjáis.

¶ Behold, I know your thoughts and the imaginations which ye devise against me.

28 P orque decís: ¿Qué es de la casa del príncipe, y qué de la tienda de las moradas de los impíos?

For ye say, What is of the house of the prince, and what of the tent of the habitation of the wicked?

29 ¿ No habéis preguntado a los que pasan por los caminos, por cuyas señas no negaréis?

Have ye not asked those that go by the way, and do ye not know their tokens?

30 Q ue el malo es guardado para el día de la destrucción, para el día de las iras son llevados.

That the wicked is reserved for the day of destruction, they shall be brought forth to the day of wrath.

31 ¿ Quién le denunciará en su cara su camino? Y de lo que él hizo, ¿quién le dará el pago?

Who shall declare his way to his face? And who shall repay him what he has done?

32 P orque él ya será llevado a los sepulcros, y en la tumba permanecerá.

He shall yet be brought to the grave and shall remain in the tomb.

33 L os terrones del arroyo le serán ya dulces; y tras de él será llevado todo hombre, y antes de él han ido innumerables.

The clods of the river valley shall be sweet unto him, and every man shall be drawn after him, as there were innumerable before him.

34 ¿ Cómo, pues, me consoláis en vano, dado que vuestras respuestas quedan por mentira?

How then do ye comfort me in vain, given that your answers remain as falsehood?
