1 ¶ Pasadas estas cosas, Pablo salió de Atenas, y vino a Corinto.

¶ After these things Paul departed from Athens and came to Corinth

2 Y hallando a un judío llamado Aquila, natural del Ponto, que hacía poco que había venido de Italia, y a Priscila su mujer, (porque Claudio había mandado que todos los judíos salieran de Roma) se vino a ellos;

and found a certain Jew named Aquila, born in Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife Priscilla (for Claudius had commanded all Jews to depart from Rome) and came unto them.

3 y porque era de su oficio, posó con ellos, y trabajaba; porque el oficio de ellos era hacer tiendas.

And because he was of the same craft, he abode with them and worked, for by their occupation they were tentmakers.

4 Y disputaba en la sinagoga todos los sábados, y persuadía a judíos y a griegos.

And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath and persuaded Jews and Greeks.

5 Y cuando Silas y Timoteo vinieron de Macedonia, Pablo estaba constreñido por el Espíritu, testificando a los judíos que Jesús era el Cristo.

And when Silas and Timothy were come from Macedonia, Paul was impressed by the Spirit and testified to the Jews that Jesus was the Christ.

6 M as contradiciendo y blasfemando ellos, les dijo, sacudiendo sus vestidos: Vuestra sangre sea sobre vuestra cabeza; yo, limpio; desde ahora me iré a los gentiles.

And when they opposed themselves and blasphemed, he shook his raiment and said unto them, Your blood be upon your own heads; I am clean; from now on I will go unto the Gentiles.

7 ¶ Y saliendo de allí, entró en casa de uno llamado Tito el Justo, temeroso de Dios, la casa del cual estaba junto a la sinagoga.

¶ And he departed from there and entered into a certain man’s house, named Titus the Just, one that feared God, whose house was next to the synagogue.

8 Y Crispo, el principal de la sinagoga, creyó al Señor con toda su casa; y muchos de los corintios oyendo creían, y eran bautizados.

And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians, hearing, believed and were baptized.

9 E ntonces el Señor dijo de noche en visión a Pablo: No temas, sino habla, y no calles;

Then the Lord spoke to Paul in the night by a vision, Do not be afraid, but speak and do not be silent,

10 p orque yo estoy contigo, y ninguno te podrá hacer mal; porque yo tengo mucho pueblo en esta ciudad.

For I am with thee, and no one shall be able to hurt thee, for I have many people in this city.

11 Y se detuvo allí un año y seis meses, enseñándoles la palabra de Dios.

And he continued there a year and six months, teaching them the word of God.

12 ¶ Y siendo Galión procónsul de Acaya, los judíos se levantaron de común acuerdo contra Pablo, y le llevaron al tribunal,

¶ And when Gallio was the proconsul of Achaia, the Jews rose up with one accord against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat,

13 d iciendo: Que éste persuade a los hombres a honrar a Dios contra la ley.

saying, This fellow persuades men to honor God contrary to the law.

14 Y comenzando Pablo a abrir la boca, Galión dijo a los judíos: Si fuera algún agravio o algún crimen enorme, oh judíos, conforme a derecho yo os toleraría.

And when Paul was now about to open his mouth, Gallio said unto the Jews, If it were a matter of wrong or wicked lewdness, O ye Jews, reason would that I should bear with you;

15 P ero si son cuestiones de palabras, y de nombres, y de vuestra ley, vedlo vosotros; porque yo no quiero ser juez de estas cosas.

but if it is a question of words and names and of your law, look ye to it, for I will be no judge of such matters.

16 Y los echó del tribunal.

And he drove them from the judgment seat.

17 E ntonces todos los griegos tomando a Sóstenes, principal de la sinagoga, le herían delante del tribunal; y a Galión nada se le daba de ello.

Then all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And Gallio cared for none of those things.

18 ¶ Mas Pablo habiéndose detenido aun allí muchos días, después se despidió de los hermanos, y navegó a Siria, y con él Priscila y Aquila, habiéndose trasquilado la cabeza en Cencrea, porque tenía voto.

¶ And Paul after this tarried there yet a good while and then took his leave of the brethren and sailed from there into Syria and with him Priscilla and Aquila, having shorn his head in Cenchrea, for he had a vow.

19 Y llegó a Efeso, y los dejó allí: y él entrando en la sinagoga, disputó con los judíos,

And he came to Ephesus and left them there, but he himself entered into the synagogue and reasoned with the Jews.

20 l os cuales le rogaban que se quedara con ellos por más tiempo; mas no accedió.

When they desired him to tarry longer time with them, he consented not,

21 S ino que se despidió de ellos, diciendo: Es necesario que en todo caso tenga la Fiesta que viene, en Jerusalén; mas otra vez volveré a vosotros, queriendo Dios. Y salió de Efeso.

but bade them farewell, saying, I must by all means keep this feast that comes in Jerusalem, but I will return again unto you, if God wills. And he sailed from Ephesus.

22 Y habiendo arribado a Cesarea subió a Jerusalén; y después de saludar a la Iglesia, descendió a Antioquía.

And when he had landed at Caesarea and gone up to Jerusalem and after greeting the congregation, he went down to Antioch.

23 Y habiendo estado allí algún tiempo, salió, andando por orden la provincia de Galacia, y Frigia, confirmando a todos los discípulos.

And after he had spent some time there, he departed and went over all the country of Galatia and Phrygia in order, confirming all the disciples.

24 ¶ Llegó entonces a Efeso un judío, llamado Apolos, natural de Alejandría, varón elocuente, poderoso en las Escrituras.

¶ And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25 E ste era instruido en el camino del Señor; y ferviente de espíritu, hablaba y enseñaba diligentemente las cosas que son del Señor Jesús, enseñado solamente en el bautismo de Juan.

This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spoke and taught diligently the things of the Lord, teaching only in the baptism of John.

26 Y comenzó a hablar confiadamente en la sinagoga; pero cuando le oyeron Priscila y Aquila, le tomaron, y le declararon más particularmente el camino de Dios.

And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Aquila and Priscilla had heard him, they took him unto them and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.

27 Y queriendo él pasar a Acaya, los hermanos exhortados, escribieron a los discípulos que le recibieran; y venido él, aprovechó mucho por la gracia a los que habían creído;

And when he was disposed to pass into Achaia, the exhorted brethren wrote the disciples to receive him, who, when he was come, was very helpful through grace unto those who had believed;

28 p orque con gran vehemencia convencía públicamente a los judíos, mostrando por las Escrituras que Jesús era el Cristo.

for he mightily convinced the Jews in public, showing by the scriptures that Jesus was the Christ.
