1 E n el año segundo de Joás hijo de Joacaz rey de Israel, comenzó a reinar Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá.

¶ In the second year of Joash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, Amaziah, the son of Joash, king of Judah, began to reign.

2 C uando comenzó a reinar era de veinticinco años, y veintinueve años reinó en Jerusalén; el nombre de su madre fue Joadán, de Jerusalén.

He was twenty-five years old when he began to reign and reigned twenty-nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.

3 Y él hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, aunque no como David su padre; hizo conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Joás su padre.

And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, yet not like David his father; he did according to all things as Joash his father did.

4 C on todo eso los lugares altos no fueron quitados; porque el pueblo aun sacrificaba y quemaba incienso en los lugares altos.

With all this, the high places were not taken away; as yet the people sacrificed and burnt incense on the high places.

5 Y cuando el reino fue confirmado en su mano, hirió a sus siervos, los que habían dado muerte al rey su padre.

And as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, he slew his slaves which had slain the king, his father.

6 M as no mató a los hijos de los que le mataron, conforme a lo que está escrito en el libro de la ley de Moisés, donde el SEÑOR mandó, diciendo: No matarán a los padres por los hijos, ni a los hijos por los padres; mas cada uno morirá por su pecado.

But the sons of those who had slain him he slew not; according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses where the LORD commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but each one shall die for their own sin.

7 E ste también hirió diez mil idumeos en el valle de las Salinas, y tomó a Sela por guerra, y la llamó Jocteel, hasta hoy.

He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand and took Selah by war and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.

8 E ntonces Amasías envió embajadores a Joás, hijo de Joacaz hijo de Jehú, rey de Israel, diciendo: Ven, y veámonos de rostro.

¶ Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look each other in the face.

9 ¶ Y Joás rey de Israel envió a Amasías rey de Judá esta respuesta: El cardillo que está en el Líbano envió a decir al gran cedro que está en el Líbano: Da tu hija por mujer a mi hijo. Y pasaron las bestias fieras que están en el Líbano, y hollaron el cardillo.

And Jehoash, the king of Israel, sent to Amaziah, king of Judah, this reply, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife. And the wild beasts that were in Lebanon passed by and trode down the thistle.

10 C iertamente has herido a Edom, y tu corazón te ha envanecido; gloríate pues, mas estate en 5tu casa. ¿Para qué te entremeterás en un mal, para que caigas tú, y Judá contigo?

Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thy heart has lifted thee up; glory in this, but tarry at home. Why should thou meddle in evil that thou should fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?

11 M as Amasías no dio oídos; y subió Joás rey de Israel, y se vieron de rostro él y Amasías rey de Judá, en Bet-semes, que es en Judá.

But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash, king of Israel, went up; and he and Amaziah, king of Judah, looked each other in the face at Bethshemesh, which is in Judah.

12 M as Judá cayó delante de Israel, y huyeron cada uno a sus estancias.

But Judah fell before Israel, and they fled each man to their tents.

13 A demás Joás rey de Israel tomó a Amasías rey de Judá, hijo de Joás, hijo de Ocozías, en Bet-semes; y vino a Jerusalén, y rompió el muro de Jerusalén desde la puerta de Efraín hasta la puerta de la esquina, cuatrocientos codos.

Furthermore, Jehoash, king of Israel, took Amaziah, king of Judah, the son of Jehoash, the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh and came to Jerusalem and broke down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.

14 Y tomó todo el oro, y la plata, y todos los vasos que fueron hallados en la Casa del SEÑOR, y en los tesoros de la casa del rey, y los hijos en rehenes, y se volvió a Samaria.

And he took all the gold and silver and all the vessels that were found in the house of the LORD and in the treasury of the king’s house and the sons as hostages and returned to Samaria.

15 L os demás hechos de Joás que hizo, y sus valentías, y cómo peleó contra Amasías rey de Judá, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

¶ Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash, which he did, and his might and how he fought with Amaziah, king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

16 Y durmió Joás con sus padres, y fue sepultado en Samaria con los reyes de Israel; y reinó en su lugar Jeroboam su hijo.

And Jehoash slept with his fathers and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam, his son, reigned in his stead.

17 ¶ Y Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá, vivió después de la muerte de Joás hijo de Joacaz rey de Israel, quince años.

And Amaziah, the son of Joash, king of Judah, lived after the death of Jehoash, son of Jehoahaz, king of Israel, fifteen years.

18 L os demás hechos de Amasías, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

19 E hicieron conspiración contra él en Jerusalén, y huyendo él a Laquis, enviaron tras él a Laquis, y allá lo mataron.

Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem, and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish and slew him there.

20 L o trajeron luego sobre caballos, y lo sepultaron en Jerusalén con sus padres, en la ciudad de David.

And they brought him on horses, and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.

21 E ntonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Azarías, que era de dieciséis años, y lo hicieron rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.

Then all the people of Judah took Azariah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.

22 E dificó él a Elat, y la restituyó a Judá, después que el rey durmió con sus padres.

He built Elath and restored it to Judah, after the king slept with his fathers.

23 E l año quince de Amasías hijo de Joás rey de Judá, comenzó a reinar Jeroboam hijo de Joás sobre Israel en Samaria; y reinó cuarenta y un años.

¶ In the fifteenth year of Amaziah, the son of Joash, king of Judah, Jeroboam, the son of Joash, king of Israel, began to reign in Samaria and reigned forty-one years.

24 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, y no se apartó de todos los pecados de Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar a Israel.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD; he did not depart from all the sins of Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin.

25 E l restituyó los términos de Israel desde la entrada de Hamat hasta el mar de la llanura, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR Dios de Israel, la cual había él hablado por su siervo Jonás hijo de Amitai, profeta que fue de Gat-hefer.

He restored the borders of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the LORD God of Israel, which he had spoken by the hand of his slave Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, who was of Gathhepher.

26 P or cuanto el SEÑOR miró la muy amarga aflicción de Israel; que no había nadie guardado ni quedado, ni quien diera ayuda a Israel;

For the LORD saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter, for there was no one shut up nor any left nor any to help Israel;

27 y el SEÑOR no había aún determinado raer el nombre de Israel de debajo del cielo; por tanto, los salvó por mano de Jeroboam hijo de Joás.

and the LORD had not yet determined to blot out the name of Israel from under heaven; therefore, he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam, the son of Joash.

28 Y los demás hechos de Jeroboam, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su valentía, y todas las guerras que hizo, y cómo restituyó a Judá en Israel a Damasco y a Hamat, ¿no está escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Israel?

Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam and all that he did and his might, how he warred and how he recovered Damascus and Hamath to Judah in Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?

29 Y durmió Jeroboam con sus padres, los reyes de Israel, y reinó en su lugar Zacarías su hijo.

And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, with the kings of Israel, and Zachariah, his son, reigned in his stead.
