1 ¶ Y dieron aviso a David, diciendo: He aquí que los filisteos combaten a Keila, y roban las eras.

¶ Then they told David, saying, Behold, the Philistines fight against Keilah, and they rob the threshingfloors.

2 Y David consultó al SEÑOR, diciendo: ¿Iré a herir a estos filisteos? Y el SEÑOR respondió a David: Ve, hiere a los filisteos, y salva a Keila.

Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go and smite the Philistines and save Keilah.

3 M as los varones que estaban con David le dijeron: He aquí que nosotros aquí en Judá estamos con miedo; ¿cuánto más si fuéremos a Keila contra el ejército de los filisteos?

But David’s men said unto him, Behold, we are afraid here in Judah, how much more than if we go to Keilah against the army of the Philistines?

4 E ntonces David volvió a consultar al SEÑOR. Y el SEÑOR le respondió, y dijo: Levántate, desciende a Keila, que yo entregaré en tus manos a los filisteos.

Then David enquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah, for I will deliver the Philistines into thy hand.

5 Y partió David con sus hombres a Keila, y peleó contra los filisteos, y trajo antecogidos sus ganados, y los hirió con grande estrago; y libró David a los de Keila.

So David and his men went to Keilah and fought with the Philistines and brought away their livestock and smote them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.

6 Y aconteció que, huyendo Abiatar hijo de Ahimelec a David a Keila, vino con el efod en su mano.

And it came to pass when Abiathar, the son of Ahimelech, fled to David to Keilah that the ephod came in his hand.

7 ¶ Y fue dicho a Saúl como David había venido a Keila. Entonces dijo Saúl: Dios lo ha traído a mis manos; porque él está encerrado, habiéndose metido en una ciudad con puertas y cerraduras.

¶ And it was told Saul how David had come to Keilah. And Saul said, God has delivered him into my hand, for he is shut in by entering into a town that has gates and bars.

8 Y convocó Saúl todo el pueblo a la batalla, para descender a Keila, y poner cerco a David y a los suyos.

And Saul called all the people together to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.

9 M as entendiendo David que Saúl ideaba el mal contra él, dijo a Abiatar sacerdote: Trae el efod.

But David understood that Saul devised evil against him, and he said to Abiathar, the priest, Bring here the ephod.

10 Y dijo David: SEÑOR Dios de Israel, tu siervo ha oído que Saúl procura venir contra Keila, a destruir la ciudad por causa mía.

Then David said, O LORD God of Israel, thy slave has certainly heard that Saul seeks to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.

11 ¿ Me entregarán los señores de Keila en sus manos? ¿Descenderá Saúl, como tu siervo ha oído decir? SEÑOR Dios de Israel, te ruego que lo declares a tu siervo. Y el SEÑOR dijo: Sí, descenderá.

Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? Will Saul come down as thy slave has heard? O LORD God of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy slave. And the LORD said, He will come down.

12 D ijo luego David: ¿Me entregarán los señores de Keila a mí y a los varones que están conmigo en manos de Saúl? Y el SEÑOR respondió: Te entregarán.

Then David said, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the LORD said, They will deliver thee up.

13 D avid entonces se levantó con sus hombres, que eran como seiscientos, y salieron de Keila, y fueron de una parte a otra. Y vino la nueva a Saúl de como David se había escapado de Keila; y dejó de salir.

So David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah and went from one place to another. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah, and he forbare to go forth.

14 ¶ Y David se estaba en el desierto en peñas, y habitaba en un monte en el desierto de Zif; y lo buscaba Saúl todos los días, mas Dios no lo entregó en sus manos.

¶ And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God did not deliver him into his hand.

15 V iendo, pues, David que Saúl había salido en busca de su alma, se estaba él en el bosque en el desierto de Zif.

And David, seeing that Saul had come out to seek his soul, stayed in the woods in the wilderness of Ziph.

16 E ntonces se levantó Jonatán hijo de Saúl, y vino a David en el bosque, y fortaleció su mano en Dios.

Then Jonathan, Saul’s son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God.

17 Y le dijo: No temas, que no te hallará la mano de Saúl mi padre, y tú reinarás sobre Israel, y yo seré segundo después de ti; y aun mi padre así lo sabe.

And he said unto him, Do not fear, for the hand of Saul, my father, shall not find thee, and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and even my father knows this.

18 Y entre ambos hicieron pacto delante del SEÑOR; y David se quedó en el bosque, y Jonatán se volvió a su casa.

And the two made a covenant before the LORD, and David abode in the woods, and Jonathan returned to his house.

19 ¶ Y subieron los de Zif a decir a Saúl en Gabaa: ¿No está David escondido en nuestra tierra en las peñas del bosque, en el collado de Haquila (oscuro) que está a la mano derecha del desierto?

¶ Then those of Ziph came to Saul to Gibeah, saying, Does not David hide himself with us in strong holds in the woods in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the right hand side of the wilderness?

20 P or tanto, rey, desciende ahora presto, según todo el deseo de tu alma, y nosotros lo entregaremos en la mano del rey.

Now, therefore, O king, come down according to all the desire of thy soul to come down, and our part shall be to deliver him into the king’s hand.

21 Y Saúl dijo: Benditos seáis vosotros del SEÑOR, que habéis tenido compasión de mí.

And Saul said, Blessed are ye of the LORD, for ye have compassion on me.

22 I d, pues, ahora, apercibid aún, considerad y ved su lugar donde tiene el pie, y quién lo haya visto allí; porque se me ha dicho que él es en gran manera prudente.

Go, I pray you, prepare yet and know and see his place where he places his foot and who has seen him there, for it is told me that he deals with great prudence.

23 C onsiderad, pues, y ved todos los escondrijos donde se oculta, y volved a mí con la certidumbre, y yo iré con vosotros; que si él estuviere en la tierra, yo le buscaré con todos los millares de Judá.

See, therefore, and take knowledge of all the hiding places where he hides himself and come again to me with the certainty, and I will go with you; and it shall come to pass, if he is in the land that I will search him out with all the thousands of Judah.

24 Y ellos se levantaron, y se fueron a Zif delante de Saúl. Mas David y sus varones estaban en el desierto de Maón, en la llanura que está a la diestra del desierto.

And they arose and went to Ziph before Saul, but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon in the plain on the right hand side of the wilderness.

25 Y partió Saúl con sus varones a buscarlo; pero fue dado aviso a David, y descendió de allí a la peña, y se quedó en el desierto de Maón. Lo cual cuando Saúl oyó, siguió a David al desierto de Maón.

Saul also and his men went to seek him. And they told David, and he came down from there into a rock and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.

26 Y Saúl iba por un lado del monte, y David con los suyos por el otro lado del monte; y David se daba prisa para ir delante de Saúl; mas Saúl y los suyos habían encerrado a David y a los suyos para tomarlos.

And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain; and David made haste to get away from the presence of Saul, for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.

27 E ntonces vino un mensajero a Saúl, diciendo: Ven luego, porque los filisteos han entrado con ímpetu en la tierra.

But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying, Make haste and come, for the Philistines have invaded the land.

28 S e volvió, por tanto, Saúl de perseguir a David, y partió contra los filisteos. Por esta causa pusieron a aquel lugar por nombre Sela-hama-lecot (peña de las divisiones).

Saul returned, therefore, from pursuing after David and went against the Philistines. For this reason they called that place Selahammahlekoth.

29 E ntonces David subió de allí, y habitó en los parajes fuertes en En-gadi.

And David went up from there and dwelt in strong holds at Engedi.
