1 C arga de la palabra del SEÑOR contra Israel, por mano de Malaquías.

¶ The burden of the word of the LORD against Israel by the hand of Malachi.

2 Y o os amé, dijo el SEÑOR; diréis: ¿En qué nos amaste? ¿No era Esaú hermano de Jacob?, dijo el SEÑOR, y amé a Jacob,

I have loved you, said the LORD. Yet ye say, In what hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob’s brother? said the LORD; yet I loved Jacob,

3 y a Esaú aborrecí, y torné sus montes en asolamiento, y su posesión para los dragones del desierto.

and I rejected Esau and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

4 C uando Edom dijere: Nos hemos empobrecido, mas tornemos a edificar lo arruinado; así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Ellos edificarán, y yo destruiré; y les llamarán Provincia de impiedad, y, pueblo contra quien el SEÑOR se airó para siempre.

When Edom saith, We are impoverished, but we will return and build the desolate places; thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, They shall build, but I will throw down; and they shall call them, The province of wickedness and The people against whom the LORD has indignation for ever.

5 Y vuestros ojos lo verán, y diréis: Sea el SEÑOR engrandecido sobre la provincia de Israel.

And your eyes shall see and ye shall say, The LORD will be magnified over the province of Israel.

6 E l hijo honró al padre, y el siervo a su señor; y si yo soy Padre, ¿qué es de mi honra? Y si soy Señor, ¿qué es de mi temor? dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos a vosotros, oh sacerdotes, que menospreciáis mi Nombre. Y diréis: ¿En qué hemos menospreciado tu Nombre?

¶ The son honours his father and the slave his master; if then I am a father, where is my honour? and if I am a master, where is my fear? said the LORD of the hosts unto you, O priests, that despise my name. And ye say, In what have we despised thy name?

7 Q ue ofrecéis sobre mi altar pan inmundo. Y diréis: ¿En qué te hemos amancillado? En que decís: Morimos de hambre al servicio del SEÑOR.

Ye offer polluted bread upon my altar; and ye say, In what have we polluted thee? In that ye say, We die of hunger in the service of the LORD.

8 Y cuando ofrecéis el animal ciego para sacrificar, ¿no es malo? Asimismo cuando ofrecéis el cojo o el enfermo, ¿no es malo? Preséntalo, pues, a tu príncipe; ¿acaso se agradará de ti, o le serás acepto? Dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

And when ye offer the blind animal for sacrifice, is it not evil? Likewise when ye offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy prince; will he be pleased with thee or accept thy person? said the LORD of the hosts.

9 A hora, pues, orad a la faz de Dios, y él tendrá piedad de nosotros; esto de vuestra mano vino, ¿le seréis agradables? Dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

And now, therefore, beseech the face of God, and he will have compassion on us; this has come by your hand: will he regard your persons? said the LORD of the hosts.

10 ¿ Quién también hay de vosotros que cierre las puertas o atiende el fuego de mi altar de balde? Yo no recibo contentamiento en vosotros, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, ni de vuestra mano me será agradable el presente.

Who is there even among you that would shut the doors or tend the fire on my altar for free? I have no pleasure in you, said the LORD of the hosts, neither will the offering from your hand be agreeable unto me.

11 P orque desde donde el sol nace hasta donde se pone, mi Nombre es grande entre los gentiles; y en todo lugar se ofrece a mi Nombre perfume, y presente limpio; porque grande es mi Nombre entre los gentiles, dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same, my name is great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense is offered unto my name, and a clean offering; for my name is great among the Gentiles, said the LORD of the hosts.

12 Y vosotros lo habéis profanado cuando decís: Morimos de hambre al servicio del SEÑOR; y cuando hablan que su alimento es despreciable.

And ye have profaned it when ye say, We die of hunger at the service of the LORD and when ye speak that his food is contemptible.

13 Y decís: ¡Oh qué trabajo! Y lo desechasteis, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos; y trajisteis lo hurtado, o cojo, o enfermo, y presentasteis ofrenda. ¿Me será acepto eso de vuestra mano? Dice el SEÑOR.

And ye say, Behold, what a weariness it is! and ye have rejected it, said the LORD of the hosts; and ye brought that which was stolen or lame or sick and presented an offering: should this be acceptable unto me by your hand? said the LORD.

14 M aldito el engañoso, que tiene macho en su rebaño, y promete, y sacrifica corrompido al SEÑOR; porque yo soy Gran Rey, dice el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, y mi Nombre es formidable entre los gentiles.

But cursed be the deceiver, who has in his flock a male and vows and sacrifices unto the Lord a corrupt thing: for I am a great King, saith the LORD of the hosts, and my name is formidable among the Gentiles.
