1 ¶ No tengas envidia de los hombres malos, ni desees estar con ellos;

¶ Do not be envious of evil men, neither desire to be with them.

2 p orque su corazón piensa en robar, y maldad hablan sus labios.

For their heart studies robbery, and their lips speak evil.

3 ¶ Con sabiduría se edificará la casa, y con inteligencia se afirmará;

¶ Through wisdom the house shall be built, and with intelligence it shall be established:

4 y con ciencia se llenarán las cámaras de todas las riquezas preciosas y hermosas.

And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and beautiful riches.

5 E l hombre sabio es fuerte; y el hombre entendido es valiente de fuerza.

The wise man is strong; and the man of understanding is a mighty man of valour.

6 P orque con sabios consejos harás la guerra; y la salvación está en la multitud de consejeros.

For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war, and in the multitude of counsellors there is saving health.

7 ¶ Alta está para el loco la sabiduría; en la puerta no abrirá él su boca.

¶ Wisdom, is too high for a fool; he shall not open his mouth in the gate.

8 A l que piensa mal hacer le llamarán hombre de malos pensamientos.

He that devises to do evil shall be called a man of evil designs.

9 E l pensamiento del loco es pecado; y abominación a los hombres el burlador.

The thought of the foolish is sin, and the scorner is an abomination to men.

10 ¶ Si fueres flojo en el día de tribulación, tu fuerza será reducida.

¶ If thou art slack in the day of tribulation, thy strength shall be reduced.

11 ¶ Si dejares de librar los que son tomados para la muerte, y los que son llevados al degolladero;

¶ If thou forbear to deliver those that are drawn unto death and those that are ready to be slain,

12 s i dijeres: Ciertamente no lo supimos; ¿no lo entenderá el que pesa los corazones? El que mira por tu alma, él lo conocerá, y dará al hombre según sus obras.

if thou should say, Behold, we knew it not; shall not he that weighs the hearts understand it? and he that keeps thy soul, does he not know it? and shall he not render to every man according to his works?

13 ¶ Come, hijo mío, de la miel, porque es buena, y del panal dulce a tu paladar;

¶ My son, eat of the honey, because it is good, and of the honeycomb, which is sweet to thy taste:

14 t al será el conocimiento de la sabiduría a tu alma, si la hallares; y al fin tu esperanza no será cortada.

So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: if thou shalt find it, and in the end thy hope shall not be cut off.

15 ¶ Oh impío, no aceches la tienda del justo, no saquees su cámara;

¶ Do not lay in wait, O wicked man, against the dwelling of the righteous; do not spoil his resting place.

16 p orque siete veces cae el justo, y vuelve a levantarse; mas los impíos caerán en el mal.

For a just man falls seven times and rises up again, but the wicked shall fall into evil.

17 ¶ Cuando cayere tu enemigo, no te regocijes; y cuando tropezare, no se alegre tu corazón;

¶ Do not rejoice when thy enemy falls, and do not let thy heart be glad when he stumbles

18 p ara que el SEÑOR no lo mire, y le desagrade, y aparte de sobre él su enojo.

lest the LORD see it and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.

19 ¶ No te entremetas con los malignos, ni tengas envidia de los impíos;

¶ Do not meddle with those who are evil, neither be envious of the wicked;

20 p orque para el malo no habrá buen fin, y la lámpara de los impíos será apagada.

for the evil man shall not come to a good end; the fire of the wicked shall be put out.

21 ¶ Teme al SEÑOR, hijo mío, y al rey; no te entremetas con los veleidosos;

¶ My son, fear the LORD and the king, and do not meddle with those that are given to change,

22 p orque su quebrantamiento se levantará de repente; y el quebrantamiento de ambos, ¿quién lo comprenderá?

for their calamity shall rise suddenly; and the ruin of them both, who shall know it?

23 ¶ También estas cosas pertenecen a los sabios. Tener acepción de personas en el juicio no es bueno.

¶ These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment.

24 E l que dijere al malo: Justo eres, los pueblos lo maldecirán, y le detestarán las naciones;

He that saith unto the wicked, Thou art righteous; him shall the peoples curse, nations shall abhor him:

25 m as los que lo reprenden, serán agradables, y sobre ellos vendrá bendición de bien.

But unto those that rebuke him shall be delight, and a blessing of good shall come upon them.

26 B esados serán los labios del que responde palabras rectas.

The lips of the one that gives a right answer shall be kissed.

27 ¶ Prepara tus labores de afuera, y disponlas en tu heredad; y después edificarás tu casa.

¶ Prepare thy work without and make it fit for thyself in thine inheritance, and afterwards thou shalt build thine house.

28 ¶ No seas testigo falso contra tu prójimo; y no lisonjees con tus labios.

¶ Do not be a false witness against thy neighbour, and do not flatter with thy lips.

29 N o digas: Como me hizo, así le haré; daré el pago al varón según su obra.

Do not say, I will do unto him as he has done unto me; I will render to the man according to his work.

30 ¶ Pasé junto a la heredad del hombre perezoso, y junto a la viña del hombre falto de entendimiento;

¶ I went by the field of the slothful and by the vineyard of the man void of understanding,

31 y he aquí que por toda ella habían ya crecido espinas, ortigas habían ya cubierto su faz, y su cerca de piedra estaba ya destruida.

and, behold, it was all grown over with thorns, and nettles had covered its face, and its stone wall was broken down.

32 Y yo miré, y lo puse en mi corazón; lo vi, y tomé castigo.

Then I saw, and considered it well: I looked upon it and received chastening.

33 U n poco de sueño, cabeceando otro poco, poniendo mano sobre mano otro poco para dormir;

Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:

34 a sí vendrá como caminante tu necesidad, y tu pobreza como hombre de escudo.

So shall thy poverty come as one that travels and thy want as an armed man.
