1 ¶ Pablo, llamado a ser apóstol de Jesús, el Cristo por la voluntad de Dios; y el hermano Sóstenes,

¶ Paul, called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes, our brother,

2 a la Iglesia de Dios que está en Corinto, santificados en Cristo Jesús, llamados santos, y a todos los que invocan el Nombre del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, en cualquier lugar, Señor de ellos y nuestro;

unto the congregation of God which is at Corinth, to those that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:

3 G racia y paz tengáis de Dios nuestro Padre, y del Señor Jesús el Cristo.

Grace be unto you and peace from God our Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 G racias doy a mi Dios siempre por vosotros, por la gracia de Dios que os es dada en Cristo Jesús;

I thank my God always on your behalf for the grace of God which is given you in Christ Jesus,

5 q ue en todas las cosas sois enriquecidos en él, en toda palabra y en toda ciencia;

that in every thing ye are enriched in him in all word and in all knowledge,

6 c on lo cual el testimonio del Cristo ha sido confirmado en vosotros,

with which the testimony of the Christ was confirmed in you,

7 d e tal manera que nada os falte en ningún don, esperando la manifestación del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo;

so that ye lack nothing in any gift, waiting for the manifestation of our Lord Jesus Christ,

8 e l cual también os confirmará que permanezcáis sin pecado hasta el fin, hasta en el día de nuestro Señor, Jesucristo.

who shall also confirm that ye shall remain unimpeachable unto the end, in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 F iel es Dios, por el cual sois llamados a la confraternidad de su Hijo, Jesús el Cristo, Señor nuestro.

God is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

10 ¶ Todavía, hermanos, os ruego por el Nombre del Señor nuestro, Jesús el Cristo, que habléis todos una misma cosa, y que no haya entre vosotros divisiones, antes seáis perfectos, unidos en un mismo entendimiento y en un mismo parecer.

¶ Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing and that there be no divisions among you, but that ye be perfect, joined together in the same understanding and in the same perception.

11 P orque me ha sido declarado de vosotros, hermanos míos, por los que son de Cloé, que hay entre vosotros contiendas;

For it has been declared unto me of you, my brethren, by those of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

12 q uiero decir, que cada uno de vosotros dice: Yo soy de Pablo; pues yo de Apolos; y yo de Cefas; y yo de Cristo.

In other words, that each one of you says, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, and I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

13 ¿ Está dividido el Cristo? ¿Fue colgado en el madero Pablo por vosotros? ¿O habéis sido bautizados en el nombre de Pablo?

Is the Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized into the name of Paul?

14 ¶ Doy gracias a Dios, que a ninguno de vosotros he bautizado, sino a Crispo y a Gayo;

¶ I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius,

15 p ara que ninguno diga que habéis sido bautizados en mi nombre.

lest any should say that ye were baptized into my name.

16 Y también bauticé la casa de Estéfanas; mas no sé si he bautizado algún otro.

And I baptized also the household of Stephanas; besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.

17 ¶ Porque no me envió Cristo a bautizar, sino a predicar el Evangelio; no en sabiduría de palabras, para que no sea hecho vano el madero del Cristo.

¶ For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made void.

18 P orque la Palabra del madero a la verdad es locura a los que se pierden; mas a los que se salvan, es a decir, a nosotros, es potencia de Dios.

For the word of the cross is foolishness to those that perish, but unto us who are saved, it is the power of God.

19 P orque está escrito: Destruiré la sabiduría de los sabios, y reprobaré la inteligencia de los entendidos.

For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.

20 ¿ Qué es del sabio? ¿Qué del escriba? ¿Qué del filósofo de este siglo? ¿No ha enloquecido Dios la sabiduría de este mundo?

Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the philosopher of this world? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?

21 P orque en la sabiduría de Dios, por no haber el mundo conocido a Dios por sabiduría, agradó a Dios salvar a los creyentes por la locura de la predicación.

For in the wisdom of God, since the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save those that believe.

22 P orque los judíos piden señales, y los griegos buscan sabiduría;

For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom,

23 p ero nosotros predicamos a Cristo colgado en el madero, que es a los judíos ciertamente tropezadero, y a los gentiles locura;

but we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock and unto the Gentiles foolishness;

24 p ero a los llamados, así judíos como griegos, Cristo es potencia de Dios, y sabiduría de Dios.

but unto those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 P orque lo loco de Dios es más sabio que los hombres; y lo flaco de Dios es más fuerte que los hombres.

For that which is foolish of God is wiser than men, and that which is weak of God is stronger than men.

26 P orque mirad, hermanos, vuestra vocación: que no sois muchos sabios según la carne, no muchos poderosos, no muchos nobles;

For look upon your vocation, brothers, that ye are not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble,

27 a ntes lo que es la locura del mundo escogió Dios, para avergonzar a los sabios; y lo que es la flaqueza del mundo escogió Dios, para avergonzar lo fuerte;

but rather God has chosen that which is the foolishness of the world to confound the wise, and God has chosen that which is the weakness of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

28 y lo vil del mundo y lo menospreciado escogió Dios; y lo que no es, para deshacer lo que es,

and that which is vile of the world and that which is despised God has chosen, and things which are not, to bring to nought the things that are,

29 p ara que ninguna carne se jacte en su presencia.

that no flesh should glory in his presence.

30 D e él sin embargo vosotros sois renacidos en Cristo Jesús, el cual nos es hecho de Dios sabiduría, y justicia, y santificación, y redención;

But of him ye are reborn in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom and righteousness and sanctification and redemption,

31 p ara que, como está escrito: El que se gloríe, gloríese en el Señor.

that, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
