1 E ntonces el rey envió, y juntaron a él todos los ancianos de Judá y de Jerusalén.

¶ And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.

2 Y subió el rey a la Casa del SEÑOR con todos los varones de Judá, y con todos los moradores de Jerusalén, con los sacerdotes y profetas y con todo el pueblo, desde el más chico hasta el más grande; y leyó, a oídos de todos, todas las palabras del libro del pacto que había sido hallado en la Casa del SEÑOR.

And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests and the prophets and all the people, from the smallest to the greatest; and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which had been found in the house of the LORD.

3 Y poniéndose el rey en pie junto a la columna, hizo pacto delante del SEÑOR, de que irían en pos del SEÑOR, y guardarían sus mandamientos, y sus testimonios, y sus estatutos, con todo el corazón y con toda el alma, y que cumplirían las palabras de la alianza que estaban escritas en aquel libro. Y todo el pueblo confirmó el pacto.

And the king stood by the pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, that they would walk after the LORD and keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in that book. And all the people confirmed the covenant.

4 E ntonces mandó el rey al sumo sacerdote Hilcías, y a los sacerdotes de la segunda orden, y a los guardianes de la puerta, que sacaran del templo del SEÑOR todos los vasos que habían sido hechos para Baal, y para el bosque, y para todo el ejército del cielo; y los quemó fuera de Jerusalén en el campo de Cedrón, e hizo llevar las cenizas de ellos a Bet-el.

¶ And the king commanded Hilkiah, the high priest, and the priests of the second order and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that had been made for Baal and for the grove and for all the host of heaven; and he burned them outside Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron and caused their dust to be carried unto Bethel.

5 Y quitó a los religiosos, que habían puesto los reyes de Judá para que quemaran incienso en los lugares altos en las ciudades de Judá, y en los alrededores de Jerusalén; y asimismo a los que quemaban incienso a Baal, al sol, y a la luna, y a los signos, y a todo el ejército del cielo.

And he put down the religious persons whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah and in the places round about Jerusalem; likewise, those that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

6 H izo también sacar la entalladura del bosque fuera de la Casa del SEÑOR, fuera de Jerusalén, al arroyo de Cedrón, y la quemó en el arroyo de Cedrón, y la tornó en polvo, y echó el polvo de ella sobre los sepulcros de los hijos del pueblo.

And he brought out the graven image of the grove from the house of the LORD outside Jerusalem unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron and stamped it small to powder and cast the powder of it upon the graves of the sons of the people.

7 A simismo derribó las casas de los prostitutos del culto pagano que estaban junto a la Casa del SEÑOR, en las cuales tejían las mujeres pabellones para el bosque.

He likewise broke down the houses of the male cult prostitutes that were by the house of the LORD where the women wove hangings for the grove.

8 E hizo venir todos los sacerdotes de las ciudades de Judá, y profanó los lugares altos donde los sacerdotes quemaban incienso, desde Gabaa hasta Beerseba; y derribó los lugares altos de las puertas y los que estaban a la entrada de la puerta de Josué, gobernador de la ciudad; y los que estaban a la mano izquierda, a la puerta de la ciudad.

And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and broke down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua, the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.

9 P ero los sacerdotes de los lugares altos no subían al altar del SEÑOR en Jerusalén, mas comían panes sin levadura entre sus hermanos.

Nevertheless, the priests of the high places did not come up to the altar of the LORD in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.

10 A simismo profanó a Tofet, que está en el valle del hijo de Hinom, para que ninguno pasara su hijo o su hija por fuego a Moloc.

And he defiled Tophet, which is in the valley of the sons of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.

11 A simismo quitó los caballos que los reyes de Judá habían dedicado al sol a la entrada del templo del SEÑOR, junto a la cámara de Natán-melec, el eunuco, el cual tenía cargo del Parbar; y quemó al fuego los carros del sol.

And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had dedicated to the sun, at the entrance of the house of the LORD, by the chamber of Nathanmelech, the chamberlain who was in charge of the Parbar, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.

12 A simismo derribó el rey los altares que estaban sobre la techumbre de la sala de Acaz, que los reyes de Judá habían hecho, y los altares que había hecho Manasés en los dos atrios de la Casa del SEÑOR; y de allí corrió y arrojó el polvo en el arroyo de Cedrón.

And the king cast down the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the LORD and made haste and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.

13 A simismo profanó el rey los lugares altos que estaban delante de Jerusalén, a la mano derecha del monte de la destrucción, los cuales Salomón rey de Israel había edificado a Astarot, abominación de los sidonios, y a Quemos abominación de Moab, y a Milcom abominación de los hijos de Amón.

Likewise, the king defiled the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon, the king of Israel, had built unto Ashtoreth, the abomination of the Zidonians, and unto Chemosh, the abomination of the Moabites, and unto Milcom, the abomination of the sons of Ammon.

14 Y quebró las estatuas, y taló los bosques, y llenó el lugar de ellos de huesos de hombres.

And he broke the images in pieces and cut down the groves and filled their places with the bones of men.

15 A simismo el altar que estaba en Bet-el, y el lugar alto que había hecho Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, el que hizo pecar a Israel, aquel altar y el lugar alto destruyó; y quemó el lugar alto, y lo tornó en polvo, y puso fuego al bosque.

Likewise, the altar that was at Bethel and the high place which Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who caused Israel to sin, had made: both that altar and the high place he broke down and burned the high place and stamped it small to powder and burned the grove.

16 Y se volvió Josías, y vio los sepulcros que estaban allí en el monte, y envió y quitó los huesos de los sepulcros, y los quemó sobre el altar para contaminarlo, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR la cual había proclamado el varón de Dios, que había proclamado estos negocios.

And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount and sent and took the bones out of the sepulchres and burned them upon the altar and polluted it, according to the word of the LORD which the man of God proclaimed, who had proclaimed these words.

17 Y después dijo: ¿Qué título es éste que veo? Y los de la ciudad le respondieron: Este es el sepulcro del varón de Dios que vino de Judá, y proclamó estas cosas que tú has hecho sobre el altar de Bet-el.

Then he said, What title is this that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, who came from Judah and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.

18 Y él dijo: Dejadlo; ninguno mueva sus huesos; y así fueron salvados sus huesos, y los huesos del profeta que había venido de Samaria.

And he said, Let him alone; let no one move his bones. So his bones were saved along with the bones of the prophet that had come out of Samaria.

19 F inalmente todas las casas de los lugares altos que estaban en las ciudades de Samaria, las cuales habían hecho los reyes de Israel para provocar a ira, Josías las quitó, e hizo de ellas como había hecho en Bet-el.

And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the LORD to anger, Josiah took away and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.

20 Y mató sobre los altares a todos los sacerdotes de los lugares altos que allí estaban, y quemó sobre ellos los huesos de los hombres, y se volvió a Jerusalén.

And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars and burned men’s bones upon them and returned to Jerusalem.

21 ¶ Entonces mandó el rey a todo el pueblo, diciendo: Haced la pascua al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, conforme a lo que está escrito en el libro de este pacto.

Then the king commanded all the people, saying, Make the passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.

22 N o fue hecha tal pascua desde los tiempos de los jueces que gobernaron a Israel, ni en todos los tiempos de los reyes de Israel, y de los reyes de Judá.

Such a passover had not been made since the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah.

23 A los dieciocho años del rey Josías fue hecha aquella pascua al SEÑOR en Jerusalén.

In the year eighteen of King Josiah, this passover was made unto the LORD in Jerusalem.

24 A simismo quemó Josías los espiritistas, adivinos, y terafines, y todas las abominaciones que se veían en la tierra de Judá y en Jerusalén, para confirmar las palabras de la ley que estaban escritas en el libro que el sacerdote Hilcías había hallado en la Casa del SEÑOR.

In the same manner Josiah burned the spiritists, the diviners, the teraphim, the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, that he might confirm the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest had found in the house of the LORD.

25 N o hubo tal rey antes de él que así se convirtiera al SEÑOR con todo su corazón, y con toda su alma, y con todas sus fuerzas, conforme a toda la ley de Moisés; ni después de él nació otro tal.

¶ There was no king before him that converted like this to the LORD with all his heart and all his soul and all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither did any like him arise after him.

26 C on todo eso el SEÑOR no se volvió del furor de su gran ira, con que se había encendido su ira contra Judá, por todas las provocaciones con que Manasés le había provocado a ira.

Even with all this the LORD did not turn from the fierceness of his great wrath, with which his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations with which Manasseh had provoked him to wrath.

27 Y dijo el SEÑOR: También tengo que quitar de mi presencia a Judá, como quité a Israel, y tengo que rechazar a esta ciudad que había escogido, a Jerusalén, y a la Casa de la cual yo había dicho: Mi nombre será allí.

And the LORD said, I must also remove Judah out of my sight as I have removed Israel, and I must reject this city Jerusalem which I had chosen and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.

28 L os demás hechos de Josías, y todas las cosas que hizo, ¿no está todo escrito en el libro de las crónicas de los reyes de Judá?

Now the rest of the acts of Josiah and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?

29 ¶ En aquellos días el Faraón Necao rey de Egipto subió contra el rey de Asiria al río Eufrates, y salió contra él el rey Josías; pero aquel así que le vio, lo mató en Meguido.

In his days Pharaohnechoh, king of Egypt, went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates; and King Josiah went against him; but as soon as he saw him, he slew him at Megiddo.

30 Y sus siervos lo pusieron en un carro, y lo trajeron muerto de Meguido a Jerusalén, y lo sepultaron en su sepulcro. Entonces el pueblo de la tierra tomó a Joacaz hijo de Josías, y lo ungieron y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de su padre.

And his slaves carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo and brought him to Jerusalem and buried him in his own sepulchre. Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz, the son of Josiah, and anointed him and made him king in his father’s stead.

31 D e veintitrés años era Joacaz cuando comenzó a reinar, y reinó tres meses en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Hamutal, hija de Jeremías de Libna.

¶ Jehoahaz was twenty-three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.

32 Y él hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, conforme a todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.

33 Y lo echó preso el Faraón Necao en Ribla en la provincia de Hamat, reinando él en Jerusalén; e impuso sobre la tierra una multa de cien talentos de plata, y uno de oro.

And Pharaohnechoh put him in bonds at Riblah in the land of Hamath, as he was reigning in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of one hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.

34 E ntonces Faraón Necao puso por rey a Eliacim hijo de Josías, en lugar de Josías su padre, y le mudó el nombre por el de Joacim; y tomó a Joacaz, y se lo llevó a Egipto, y murió allí.

Then Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim, the son of Josiah, king in the place of Josiah his father and changed his name to Jehoiakim and took Jehoahaz and carried him to Egypt, and he died there.

35 Y Joacim pagó a Faraón la plata y el oro; e hizo apreciar la tierra para dar este dinero conforme al mandamiento del Faraón, sacando de cada uno, según la estimación de su hacienda, la plata y el oro de todo el pueblo de la tierra, para darlo a Faraón Necao.

And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh, but he caused the land to be valued to give this money according to the commandment of Pharaoh; he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of each one according to the estimation of his worth, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.

36 D e veinticinco años era Joacim cuando comenzó a reinar, y once años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Zebuda hija de Pedaías, de Ruma.

Jehoiakim was twenty-five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.

37 E hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, conforme a todas las cosas que sus padres habían hecho.

And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his fathers had done.
