1 ¶ Y cinco días después descendió el príncipe de los sacerdotes, Ananías, con algunos de los ancianos, y un cierto Tértulo, orador; y comparecieron delante del gobernador contra Pablo.

¶ And after five days Ananias, the prince of the priests, descended with the elders and with a certain orator named Tertullus, who informed the governor against Paul.

2 Y citado que fue, Tértulo comenzó a acusarle, diciendo: Como por causa tuya vivamos en gran paz, y muchas cosas son bien gobernadas en el pueblo por tu prudencia,

And when he was called forth, Tertullus began to accuse him, saying, Seeing that by thee we enjoy great peace and that very worthy deeds are done unto this nation by thy prudence,

3 s iempre y en todo lugar lo recibimos con todo hacimiento de gracias, oh excelentísimo Félix.

we accept it always and in all places, most noble Felix, with all thankfulness.

4 P ero por no molestarte más largamente, te ruego que nos oigas brevemente conforme a tu clemencia.

Notwithstanding, that I be not further tedious unto thee, I pray thee that thou would hear us of thy clemency a few words.

5 P orque hemos hallado que este hombre es pestilencial, y levantador de sediciones a todos los judíos por todo el mundo, y príncipe de la sediciosa secta de los nazarenos;

For we have found this man a pestilent fellow and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world and prince of the seditious sect of the Nazarenes,

6 e l cual también intentó violar el Templo; y prendiéndole, le quisimos juzgar conforme a nuestra ley;

who also has gone about to profane the temple, whom we took and would have judged according to our law.

7 m as interviniendo el tribuno Lisias, con gran violencia le quitó de nuestras manos,

But the tribunal Lysias came upon us, and with great violence took him away out of our hands,

8 m andando a sus acusadores que vinieran a ti; del cual tú mismo juzgando, podrás entender todas estas cosas de que le acusamos.

commanding his accusers to come unto thee; by examining of whom thou may take knowledge of all these things, of which we accuse him.

9 Y contendían también los judíos, diciendo ser así estas cosas.

And the Jews also assented, saying that these things were so.

10 ¶ Entonces Pablo, haciéndole el gobernador señal que hablara, respondió: Porque sé que desde hace muchos años eres gobernador de esta nación, con buen ánimo satisfaré por mí.

¶ Then Paul, after the governor had beckoned unto him to speak, answered, Forasmuch as I know that thou hast been of many years a judge unto this nation, I do the more cheerfully answer for myself;

11 P orque tú puedes entender que no hace más de doce días que subí a adorar a Jerusalén;

because thou art able to understand that there have been but twelve days since I went up to Jerusalem to worship.

12 y ni me hallaron en el Templo disputando con ninguno, ni haciendo concurso de multitud, ni en sinagogas, ni en la ciudad;

And they neither found me in the temple disputing with any man, neither raising up the people, neither in the synagogues, nor in the city,

13 n i te pueden probar las cosas de que ahora me acusan.

neither can they prove the things of which they now accuse me.

14 P ero esto te confieso, que conforme a aquel Camino que ellos llaman secta, así sirvo al Dios de mi patria, creyendo todas las cosas que en la ley y en los profetas están escritas;

But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call a sect, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets,

15 t eniendo esperanza en Dios que ha de haber la resurrección de los muertos, así de justos como de injustos, que ellos esperan.

and have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

16 Y por esto, procuro yo tener siempre conciencia sin remordimiento acerca de Dios y acerca de los hombres.

And for this reason do I exercise myself to have always a conscience void of offense toward God and toward men.

17 P ero pasados muchos años, vine a hacer limosnas a mi nación, y ofrendas,

Now after many years I came to bring alms to my nation and offerings.

18 c uando me hallaron purificado en el Templo (no con multitud ni con alboroto) unos judíos de Asia;

Whereupon certain Jews from Asia found me purified in the temple, neither with multitude, nor with tumult,

19 l os cuales debieron comparecer delante de ti, y acusarme, si contra mí tenían algo.

who ought to have been here before thee and object if they had anything against me.

20 O digan estos mismos si hallaron en mí alguna cosa mal hecha, cuando yo estuve en el concilio,

Or else let these same here say if they have found any evil doing in me, while I stood before the council,

21 s i no sea que, estando entre ellos prorrumpí en alta voz: Acerca de la resurrección de los muertos soy hoy juzgado de vosotros.

except it be for this one voice, that I cried out standing among them, Touching the resurrection of the dead, I am called in question by you this day.

22 ¶ Entonces Félix, oídas estas cosas, les puso dilación, diciendo: Al estar más informado de este camino, cuando descendiere el tribuno Lisias acabaré de conocer de vuestro negocio.

¶ And when Felix heard these things, he deferred them, saying, I shall have more information regarding that way, when Lysias the tribunal shall come down, Then I will know the uttermost of your matter.

23 Y mandó al centurión que Pablo fuera guardado, y aliviado de las prisiones; y que no vedara a ninguno de los suyos servirle, o venir a él.

And he commanded a centurion to keep Paul and to let him have liberty, and that he should forbid none of his own to minister or come unto him.

24 Y algunos días después, viniendo Félix con Drusila, su mujer, la cual era judía, llamó a Pablo, y oyó de él la fe que es en el Cristo.

And after certain days when Felix came with his wife Drusilla, who was a Jewess, he sent for Paul and heard of him the faith which is in Christ.

25 Y disertando él de la justicia, y del dominio propio, y del juicio venidero, espantado Félix, respondió: Ahora vete, mas cuando tenga oportunidad te llamaré.

And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled and answered, Go away for this time; when I have a convenient season, I will call for thee.

26 E sperando también con esto, que de parte de Pablo le serían dados dineros, para que le soltara; por lo cual, haciéndole venir muchas veces, hablaba con él.

He hoped also that money should have been given him from Paul, that he might loose him; therefore he sent for him many times and communed with him.

27 P ero al cabo de dos años recibió Félix por sucesor a Porcio Festo; y queriendo Félix ganar la gracia de los judíos, dejó preso a Pablo.

But after two years Felix received Porcius Festus as successor; and Felix, wanting to win the grace of the Jews, left Paul bound.
