1 P alabra que vino a Jeremías del SEÑOR en días de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, diciendo:

¶ The word which came unto Jeremiah from the LORD in the days of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, saying,

2 V e a casa de los recabitas, y habla con ellos, e introdúcelos en la Casa del SEÑOR, en una de las cámaras, y dales a beber vino.

Go unto the house of the Rechabites and speak with them and bring them into the house of the LORD into one of the chambers and give them wine to drink.

3 Y tomé entonces a Jaazanías hijo de Jeremías, hijo de Habasinías, y a sus hermanos, y a todos sus hijos, y a toda la familia de los recabitas;

Then I took Jaazaniah the son of Jeremiah, the son of Habaziniah, and his brethren, and all his sons, and the whole house of the Rechabites;

4 y los metí en la Casa del SEÑOR, en la cámara de los hijos de Hanán, hijo de Igdalías, varón de Dios, la cual estaba junto a la cámara de los príncipes, que estaba sobre la cámara de Maasías hijo de Salum, guarda de los vasos.

and I brought them into the house of the LORD, into the chamber of the sons of Hanan, the son of Igdaliah, a man of God, which was by the chamber of the princes, which was above the chamber of Maaseiah the son of Shallum, the keeper of the vessels:

5 Y puse delante de los hijos de la familia de los recabitas tazas y copas llenas de vino, y les dije: Bebed vino.

and I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine and cups, and I said unto them, Drink wine.

6 P ero ellos dijeron: No beberemos vino; porque Jonadab hijo de Recab nuestro padre nos mandó, diciendo: No beberéis jamás vino vosotros ni vuestros hijos perpetuamente;

But they said, We will drink no wine: for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us, saying, Ye shall drink no wine, neither ye, nor your sons for ever:

7 n i edificaréis casa, ni sembraréis sementera, ni plantaréis viña, ni la tendréis; mas moraréis en tiendas todos vuestros días, para que viváis muchos días sobre la faz de la tierra donde vosotros peregrináis.

neither shall ye build a house, nor sow seed, nor plant a vineyard, nor have any: but all your days ye shall dwell in tents; that ye may live many days in the land where ye are strangers.

8 Y nosotros hemos escuchado la voz de Jonadab nuestro padre, hijo de Recab, en todas las cosas que nos mandó, de no beber vino en todos nuestros días, nosotros, ni nuestras mujeres, ni nuestros hijos, ni nuestras hijas;

Thus have we obeyed the voice of Jonadab our father, the son of Rechab, in all that he has charged us, to drink no wine all our days, we, our wives, our sons, nor our daughters;

9 y de no edificar casas para nuestra morada, y de no tener viña, ni heredad, ni sementera.

nor to build houses for us to dwell in: neither have we vineyard, nor field, nor seed:

10 M oramos, pues, en tiendas, y hemos escuchado y hecho conforme a todas las cosas que nos mandó Jonadab nuestro padre.

But we have dwelt in tents and have obeyed and done according to all that Jonadab our father commanded us.

11 P ero, sucedió, empero, que cuando Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia subió a la tierra, dijimos: Venid, y entrémonos en Jerusalén, de delante del ejército de los caldeos y de delante del ejército de los de Siria; y en Jerusalén nos quedamos.

But it came to pass, nevertheless, when Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon came up into the land, that we said, Come, and let us go to Jerusalem from before the army of the Chaldeans and from before of the army of the Syrians: and so we remain in Jerusalem.

12 Y vino Palabra del SEÑOR a Jeremías, diciendo:

¶ Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,

13 A sí dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Ve, y di a los varones de Judá, y a los moradores de Jerusalén: ¿Nunca recibiréis castigo escuchando mis palabras? Dijo el SEÑOR.

Thus hath the LORD of the hosts, the God of Israel said: Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, Will ye never receive chastisement hearkening to my words? said the LORD.

14 F ue firme la palabra de Jonadab hijo de Recab, el cual mandó a sus hijos que no bebieran vino, y no lo han bebido hasta hoy, por escuchar el mandamiento de su padre; y yo os he hablado a vosotros, madrugando, y hablando, y no me habéis oído.

The word of Jonadab the son of Rechab, that he commanded his sons not to drink wine, was not moved; for unto this day they drink none, but obey their father’s commandment: notwithstanding I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye did not hearken unto me.

15 Y envié a vosotros a todos mis siervos los profetas, madrugando y enviando, diciendo: Tornaos ahora cada uno de su mal camino, y enmendad vuestras obras, y no vayáis tras dioses ajenos para servirles, y vivid en la tierra que di a vosotros y a vuestros padres; mas no inclinasteis vuestro oído, ni me oísteis.

I have sent also unto you all my slaves the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, Turn ye now every man from his evil way, and amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them, and ye shall live in the land which I have given to you and to your fathers: but ye have not inclined your ear, nor hearkened unto me.

16 C iertamente los hijos de Jonadab, hijo de Recab, tuvieron por firme el mandamiento que su padre les mandó; mas este pueblo no me ha escuchado.

Certainly the sons of Jonadab the son of Rechab have not moved the commandment of their father, which he commanded them; but this people has not hearkened unto me:

17 P or tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo traigo sobre Judá y sobre todos los moradores de Jerusalén todo el mal que hablé contra ellos; porque les hablé, y no oyeron; los llamé, y no respondieron.

therefore thus hath the LORD God of the hosts, the God of Israel said; Behold, I bring upon Judah and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the evil that I have pronounced against them: because I spoke unto them, but they did not hear; and I called unto them, but they did not answer.

18 Y dijo Jeremías a la familia de los recabitas: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: Porque escuchasteis el mandamiento de Jonadab vuestro padre, y guardasteis todos sus mandamientos, e hicisteis conforme a todas las cosas que os mandó;

And Jeremiah said unto the house of the Rechabites, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts, God of Israel said; Because ye listened to the commandment of Jonadab your father and kept all his commandments and have done according unto all that he has commanded you:

19 p or tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel: No faltará varón de Jonadab, hijo de Recab, que esté en mi presencia todos los días.

therefore thus hath the LORD of the hosts, God of Israel said; Jonadab the son of Rechab shall not lack a man to stand before me for ever.
