1 E n el principio del reinado de Joacim hijo de Josías, rey de Judá, vino esta palabra del SEÑOR, diciendo:

¶ In the beginning of the reign of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah came this word from the LORD, saying,

2 A sí dijo el SEÑOR: Ponte en el atrio de la Casa del SEÑOR, y habla a todas las ciudades de Judá, que vienen para adorar en la Casa del SEÑOR, todas las palabras que yo te mandé les hablarás; no detengas palabra.

Thus hath the LORD said: Stand in the court of the LORD’s house and speak unto all the cities of Judah, which come to worship in the LORD’s house, all the words that I commanded thee to speak unto them; diminish not a word:

3 P or ventura oirán, y se tornarán cada uno de su mal camino; y me arrepentiré yo del mal que pienso hacerles por la maldad de sus obras.

peradventure they will hearken and turn each man from his evil way, that I may repent of the evil, which I purpose to do unto them because of the evil of their doings.

4 L es dirás: Así dijo el SEÑOR: Si no me oyereis para andar en mi ley, la cual di delante de vosotros,

And thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the LORD said: If ye will not hearken to me, to walk in my law, which I have set before you,

5 p ara oír a las palabras de mis siervos los profetas que yo os envío, madrugando y enviando, a los cuales no habéis oído;

to hearken to the words of my slaves the prophets, whom I send unto you, rising up early and sending them, unto whom ye have not hearkened,

6 y o pondré esta casa como Silo, y daré esta ciudad en maldición a todos los gentiles de la tierra.

then I will make this house like Shiloh and will give this city as a curse to all the Gentiles of the earth.

7 Y los sacerdotes, los profetas, y todo el pueblo, oyeron a Jeremías hablar estas palabras en la Casa del SEÑOR.

¶ And the priests, the prophets, and all the people heard Jeremiah speaking these words in the house of the LORD.

8 Y fue que, acabando de hablar Jeremías todo lo que el SEÑOR le había mandado que hablara a todo el pueblo, los sacerdotes y los profetas y todo el pueblo le echaron mano, diciendo: De cierto morirás.

Now it came to pass, when Jeremiah had made an end of speaking all that the LORD had commanded him to speak unto all the people that the priests and the prophets and all the people took him, saying, Thou shalt surely die.

9 ¿ Por qué has profetizado en nombre del SEÑOR, diciendo: Esta Casa será como Silo, y esta ciudad será asolada hasta no quedar morador? Y se juntó todo el pueblo contra Jeremías en la Casa del SEÑOR.

Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.

10 Y los príncipes de Judá oyeron estas cosas, y subieron de la casa del rey a la Casa del SEÑOR; y se sentaron en la entrada de la puerta nueva de la casa del SEÑOR.

When the princes of Judah heard these things, then they came up from the king’s house unto the house of the LORD and sat down in the entry of the new gate of the LORD’s house.

11 E ntonces hablaron los sacerdotes y los profetas a los príncipes y a todo el pueblo, diciendo: En pena de muerte ha incurrido este hombre; porque profetizó contra esta ciudad, como vosotros habéis oído con vuestros oídos.

Then the priests and the prophets spoke unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he has prophesied against this city as ye have heard with your ears.

12 Y habló Jeremías a todos los príncipes y a todo el pueblo, diciendo: El SEÑOR me envió a que profetizara contra esta Casa y contra esta ciudad, todas las palabras que habéis oído.

Then Jeremiah spoke unto all the princes and to all the people, saying, The LORD sent me to prophesy against this house and against this city all the words that ye have heard.

13 Y ahora, mejorad vuestros caminos y vuestras obras, y oíd la voz del SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y se arrepentirá el SEÑOR del mal que ha hablado contra vosotros.

Therefore now amend your ways and your doings and hear the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD himself will repent of the evil that he has pronounced against you.

14 E n lo que a mí toca, he aquí estoy en vuestras manos; haced de mí como mejor y más recto os pareciere.

As for me, behold, I am in your hands; do with me as seems good and meet unto you.

15 M as sabed de cierto que, si me matareis, sangre inocente echaréis sobre vosotros, y sobre esta ciudad, y sobre sus moradores: porque en verdad el SEÑOR me envió a vosotros para que dijera todas estas palabras en vuestros oídos.

But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon yourselves and upon this city and upon its inhabitants; for of a truth the LORD has sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.

16 Y dijeron los príncipes y todo el pueblo a los sacerdotes y profetas: No ha incurrido este hombre en pena de muerte, porque en nombre del SEÑOR nuestro Dios nos ha hablado.

¶ Then the princes and all the people said unto the priests and to the prophets: This man is not worthy to die, for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.

17 E ntonces se levantaron algunos de los ancianos de la tierra, y hablaron a toda la congregación del pueblo, diciendo:

Then certain of the elders of the land rose up and spoke to all the congregation of the people, saying,

18 M iqueas de Moreset profetizó en tiempo de Ezequías rey de Judá, y habló a todo el pueblo de Judá, diciendo: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Sion será arada como campo, y Jerusalén será montones, y el monte del templo en cumbres de bosque.

Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah and spoke to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said; Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the temple mount as the high places of a forest.

19 ¿ Por ventura lo mataron luego Ezequías rey de Judá y todo Judá? ¿Por ventura no temió al SEÑOR, y oró a la faz del SEÑOR, y el SEÑOR se arrepintió del mal que había hablado contra ellos? ¿Y haremos nosotros tan gran mal contra nuestras almas?

Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? Did he not fear the LORD and besought the LORD, and the LORD himself repented of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Shall we commit such great evil against our souls?

20 H ubo también un hombre que profetizaba en nombre del SEÑOR, Urías, hijo de Semaías de Quiriat-jearim, el cual profetizó contra esta ciudad y contra esta tierra, conforme a todas las palabras de Jeremías;

There was also a man that prophesied in the name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjathjearim, who prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:

21 y oyó sus palabras el rey Joacim, y todos sus valientes, y todos sus príncipes, y el rey procuró matarle; lo cual entendiendo Urías, tuvo temor, y huyó, y se metió en Egipto.

And Jehoiakim the king heard his words and all his mighty men and all the princes, and the king sought to put him to death, but when Urijah understood it, he was afraid and fled and went into Egypt.

22 Y el rey Joacim envió hombres a Egipto, a Elnatán hijo de Acbor, y otros hombres con él, a Egipto;

And Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt, namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor and certain men with him into Egypt;

23 l os cuales sacaron a Urías de Egipto, y lo trajeron al rey Joacim, y lo hirió a espada, y echó su cuerpo en los sepulcros del vulgo.

and they fetched forth Urijah out of Egypt and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king; who slew him with the sword and cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.

24 P ero la mano de Ahicam hijo de Safán era con Jeremías, para que no lo entregaran en las manos del pueblo para matarlo.

Nevertheless the hand of Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
