1 S iendo, pues, David ya viejo y lleno de días, hizo a Salomón su hijo rey sobre Israel.

¶ So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon, his son, king over Israel.

2 Y juntando a todos los príncipes de Israel, y a los sacerdotes y levitas,

And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, and the priests and the Levites,

3 f ueron contados los levitas de treinta años arriba; y fue el número de ellos por sus cabezas, contados por varones, treinta y ocho mil.

were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward; and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty-eight thousand.

4 D e éstos, veinticuatro mil para dar prisa a la obra de la Casa del SEÑOR; y gobernadores y jueces, seis mil;

Of which, twenty-four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the LORD, and six thousand were officers and judges;

5 a demás cuatro mil porteros; y cuatro mil para alabar al SEÑOR, con los instrumentos que David había hecho para rendir alabanzas.

moreover, four thousand were porters, and four thousand praised the LORD with the instruments which David had made to praise therewith.

6 Y los repartió David en órdenes conforme a los hijos de Leví, de Gersón, de Coat, y de Merari.

And David divided them into courses according to the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

7 L os hijos de Gersón: Laadán, y Simei.

The sons of Gershon: Laadan and Shimei.

8 L os hijos de Laadán, tres: Jehiel el primero, Zetam y Joel.

The sons of Laadan: Jehiel, the first, Zetham and Joel, three.

9 L os hijos de Simei, tres: Selomit, Haziel, y Arán. Estos fueron las cabezas paternas de las familias de Laadán.

The sons of Shimei: Shelomith, Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.

10 Y los hijos de Simei: Jahat, Zina, Jeús, y Bería. Estos cuatro fueron los hijos de Simei.

And the sons of Shimei: Jahath, Zina, Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.

11 J ahat era el primero, Zina el segundo; mas Jeús y Bería no se multiplicaron en hijos, por lo cual fueron contados por casa paterna.

And Jahath was the first, and Zizah the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not multiply in many sons; therefore, they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house.

12 L os hijos de Coat: Amram, Izhar, Hebrón, y Uziel, ellos cuatro.

The sons of Kohath: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.

13 L os hijos de Amram: Aarón y Moisés. Y Aarón fue apartado para ser dedicado a las más santas cosas, él y sus hijos para siempre, para que quemaran incienso delante del SEÑOR, y le ministraran, y bendijeran en su nombre, para siempre.

The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses. And Aaron was separated, that he should be dedicated to the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the LORD, to minister unto him and to bless in his name for ever.

14 Y los hijos de Moisés, varón de Dios, fueron contados en la tribu de Leví.

And the sons of Moses, the man of God, were counted in the tribe of Levi.

15 L os hijos de Moisés fueron Gersón y Eliezer.

The sons of Moses were Gershon and Eliezer.

16 H ijo de Gersón fue Sebuel el primero.

Of the sons of Gershon, Shebuel was the chief.

17 E hijo de Eliezer fue Rehabías el primero. Y Eliezer no tuvo otros hijos; mas los hijos de Rehabías fueron muchos.

And the son of Eliezer was Rehabiah, the chief. And Eliezer had no other sons, but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.

18 H ijo de Izhar fue Selomit el primero.

The sons of Izhar: Shelomith, the chief.

19 L os hijos de Hebrón: Jerías el primero, Amarías el segundo, Jahaziel el tercero, y Jecamán el cuarto.

The sons of Hebron: Jeriah, the first, Amariah, the second, Jahaziel, the third, and Jekameam, the fourth.

20 L os hijos de Uziel: Micaía el primero, e Isías el segundo.

The sons of Uzziel: Michah, the first, and Jesiah, the second.

21 L os hijos de Merari: Mahli y Musi. Los hijos de Mahli: Eleazar y Cis.

The sons of Merari: Mahli and Mushi. The sons of Mahli: Eleazar and Kish.

22 Y murió Eleazar sin hijos, mas tuvo hijas; y los hijos de Cis, sus hermanos, las tomaron por mujeres.

And Eleazar died and had no sons, but daughters and their brethren, the sons of Kish, took them as wives.

23 L os hijos de Musi: Mahli, Eder y Jerimot, ellos tres.

The sons of Mushi: Mahli, Eder, and Jeremoth, three.

24 E stos son los hijos de Leví según las casas de sus padres, cabezas paternas en su censo, contados por sus nombres, por sus cabezas, los cuales hacían obra en el ministerio de la Casa del SEÑOR, de veinte años arriba.

¶ These are the sons of Levi after the houses of their fathers, even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did work in the ministry of the house of the LORD, from the age of twenty years and upward.

25 P orque David dijo: El SEÑOR ha dado reposo a su pueblo Israel, y habitará en Jerusalén para siempre.

For David said, The LORD God of Israel has given rest unto his people, and he shall dwell in Jerusalem for ever.

26 Y también los levitas no llevarán más el tabernáculo, ni sus vasos para su ministerio.

And also unto the Levites, they shall no longer carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for its ministry.

27 A sí que, conforme a las postreras palabras de David, fue la cuenta de los hijos de Leví de veinte años arriba.

For by the last words of David, the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above.

28 Y su puesto era a la mano de los hijos de Aarón, para servir en la Casa del SEÑOR, en los atrios y en las cámaras, y en la purificación de toda cosa santificada, y en la obra del servicio de la Casa de Dios;

And their station was at the hand of the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the LORD, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and in the work of the ministry of the house of God,

29 A simismo para los panes de la proposición, para la flor de la harina para el sacrificio, para las hojuelas sin levadura, para la fruta de sartén y para lo tostado, y para toda medida y cuenta;

both for the showbread and for the fine flour for the sacrifice and for the unleavened cakes and for that which is baked in the pan and for that which is fried and for all manner of measure and size,

30 y para que asistieran cada mañana todos los días a confesar y alabar al SEÑOR, y asimismo por la tarde;

and to stand every morning to thank and praise the LORD, and likewise in the evening;

31 y para ofrecer todos los holocaustos al SEÑOR los sábados, nuevas lunas, y solemnidades por la cuenta y forma que tenían, continuamente delante del SEÑOR.

and to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the LORD in the sabbaths, in the new moons and solemnities, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the LORD.

32 Y para que tuvieran la guarda del tabernáculo del testimonio, y la guarda del santuario, y la guarda de los hijos de Aarón sus hermanos, en el ministerio de la Casa del SEÑOR.

And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the testimony and the charge of the holy place and the charge of the sons of Aaron, their brethren, in the ministry of the house of the LORD.
