1 ¶ Os ruego, sin embargo, yo Pablo, por la mansedumbre y modestia del Cristo, (que presente ciertamente soy bajo entre vosotros, mas ausente soy confiado con vosotros);

¶ Now I, Paul, myself beseech you by the meekness and clemency of the Christ (who in presence am low among you, but being absent am bold toward you)

2 r uego pues, que cuando estuviere presente, no sea necesario ser atrevido con la confianza de que soy estimado usar con algunos, que nos tienen como si anduviéramos según la carne.

but I beseech you that I need not be bold when I am present with that confidence, with which I am esteemed to use against some who regard us as if we walked according to the flesh.

3 P ues aunque andamos en la carne, no militamos según la carne.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh

4 ( Porque las armas de nuestra milicia no son carnales, sino poderosas de parte de Dios para la destrucción de fortalezas);

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God for the destruction of strong holds),

5 d estruyendo consejos, y toda altura que se levanta contra la ciencia de Dios, y llevando cautivo todo pensamiento a la obediencia del Cristo.

casting down reasonings and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and leading captive every thought into the obedience of the Christ

6 Y estando prestos para castigar a toda desobediencia, cuando vuestra obediencia fuere cumplida.

and having a readiness to avenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.

7 ¶ ¿Miráis las cosas según la apariencia? El que está confiado en sí mismo que es de Cristo, esto también piense por sí mismo, que como él es de Cristo, así también nosotros somos de Cristo.

¶ Do ye look on things after the outward appearance? If anyone trusts to himself that he is Christ’s, let him of himself think this again, that as he is Christ’s, even so we are Christ’s.

8 P orque aunque me glorié aun un poco de nuestra potestad (la cual el Señor nos dio para edificación y no para vuestra destrucción), no me avergonzaré;

For though I should glory somewhat more of our authority, which the Lord has given us for edification, and not for your destruction, I shall not be ashamed,

9 p ero para que no parezca como que os quiero espantar por cartas.

That I may not seem as if I would terrify you by letters.

10 P orque a la verdad, dicen, las cartas son graves y fuertes; mas la presencia corporal flaca, y la palabra menospreciable.

For his letters, they say, are weighty and powerful; but his bodily presence is weak, and his speech contemptible.

11 E sto piense el tal, que cuales somos en la palabra por cartas estando ausentes, tales somos también presentes en la obra.

Let such a one think this, that such as we are in word by letters when we are absent, such will we be also in deed when we are present.

12 ¶ Porque no osamos entremeternos o compararnos con algunos que se encomiendan a sí mismos; mas no entienden que ellos, consigo mismos se miden, y a sí mismos se comparan.

¶ For we dare not mix ourselves in with or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves, but they do not understand that they are measuring themselves by themselves and comparing themselves among themselves.

13 P ero nosotros no nos gloriaremos más allá de nuestra medida, sino conforme a la medida de la regla, de la medida que Dios nos repartió, para llegar aun hasta vosotros.

But we will not glory of things beyond our measure, but according to the measure of the rule, of the measure which God has distributed to us, to reach even unto you.

14 P orque no nos extendemos demasiado para llegar hasta vosotros; porque también hasta vosotros hemos llegado con el Evangelio del Cristo;

For we do not overextend ourselves by reaching unto you; for we are also come unto you with the gospel of the Christ,

15 n o gloriándonos más allá de nuestra medida en trabajos ajenos; sino teniendo esperanza del crecimiento de vuestra fe, que seremos muy engrandecidos entre vosotros, conforme a nuestra regla.

Not glorying of things beyond our measure in the labours of others; but having hope of the increase of your faith, that we shall be abundantly enlarged among you according to our rule,

16 Y que anunciaremos el Evangelio a los que están más allá de vosotros, sin entrar en la medida de otro para gloriarnos en lo que ya estaba aparejado.

to preach the gospel in the regions beyond you, without entering into the measure of another to glory in that which has already been made ready.

17 M as el que se gloríe, gloríese en el Señor.

But he that glories, let him glory in the Lord.

18 P orque no el que se alaba a sí mismo es aprobado; sino aquel a quien Dios alaba.

For it is not he that commends himself that is approved, but whom the Lord commends.
