1 P alabra que vino del SEÑOR, a Jeremías, diciendo:

¶ The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,

2 O íd las palabras de este Pacto, y hablad a todo varón de Judá, y a todo morador de Jerusalén.

Hear ye the words of this covenant, and speak unto every man of Judah and to every inhabitant of Jerusalem;

3 Y les dirás tú: Así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: Maldito el varón que no oyere las palabras de este Pacto,

and thou shalt say unto them, Thus hath the LORD God of Israel said: Cursed be the man that does not hear the words of this covenant,

4 e l cual mandé a vuestros padres el día que los saqué de la tierra de Egipto, del horno de hierro, diciéndoles: Oíd mi voz, y cumplid mis palabras, conforme a todo lo que os mando, y me seréis por pueblo, y yo seré a vosotros por Dios;

which I commanded your fathers the day that I brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, from the iron furnace, saying unto them, hear my voice and comply with my words according to all which I command you; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God

5 p ara que confirme el juramento que hice a vuestros padres, que les daría la tierra que corre leche y miel, como este día. Y respondí, y dije: Amén, oh SEÑOR.

that I may confirm the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, that I would give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as it is this day. Then I answered, and said, Amen, O LORD.

6 Y el SEÑOR me dijo: Pregona todas estas palabras en las ciudades de Judá y en las plazas de Jerusalén, diciendo: Oíd las palabras de este Pacto, y ponedlas por obra.

And the LORD said unto me, Proclaim all these words in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, saying, Hear ye the words of this covenant and do them.

7 P orque con eficacia protesté a vuestros padres el día que los hice subir de la tierra de Egipto hasta el día de hoy, madrugando y protestando, diciendo: Oíd mi voz.

For I earnestly protested unto your fathers in the day that I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, even unto this day, rising early and protesting, saying, Hear my voice.

8 M as no oyeron, ni inclinaron su oído, antes se fueron cada uno tras la imaginación de su corazón malvado; por tanto, traeré sobre ellos todas las palabras de este Pacto, el cual mandé que cumplieran, y no lo cumplieron.

Yet they did not hear, nor did they incline their ear, but walked each one in the imagination of their evil heart; therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.

9 Y me dijo el SEÑOR: Conjuración se ha hallado en los varones de Judá, y en los moradores de Jerusalén.

And the LORD said unto me, A conspiracy is found among the men of Judah and among the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

10 S e han vuelto a las iniquidades de sus primeros padres, los cuales no quisieron escuchar mis palabras, antes se fueron tras dioses ajenos para servirles; la Casa de Israel y la Casa de Judá invalidaron mi Pacto, el cual yo había concertado con sus padres.

They have returned to the iniquities of their first fathers, who refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.

11 P or tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí yo traigo sobre ellos mal del cual no podrán salir; y clamarán a mí, y no los oiré.

¶ Therefore thus hath the LORD said, Behold, I will bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not hearken unto them.

12 E irán las ciudades de Judá y los moradores de Jerusalén, y clamarán a los dioses a quienes queman ellos inciensos, los cuales no los podrán salvar en el tiempo de su mal.

Then shall the cities of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem go and cry unto the gods unto whom they offer incense, who shall not be able to save them in the time of their trouble.

13 P orque según el número de tus ciudades fueron tus dioses, oh Judá; y según el número de tus calles, oh Jerusalén, pusisteis los altares de confusión, altares para ofrecer sahumerios a Baal.

For according to the number of thy cities were thy gods, O Judah; and according to the number of thy streets, O Jerusalem, have ye set up altars of confusion, even altars to burn incense unto Baal.

14 T ú, pues, no ores por este pueblo, ni levantes por ellos clamor ni oración; porque yo no oiré el día que clamaren a mí en su aflicción.

Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up a cry or prayer for them for I will not hear them in the time that they cry unto me in their trouble.

15 ¿ Qué tiene mi amado en mi Casa, habiendo hecho muchas abominaciones? Y las carnes santas pasarán de sobre ti, porque en tu maldad te gloriaste.

What part has my beloved in my house, seeing she has wrought lewdness with many? The holy flesh shall pass from upon thee, for in thy evil thou didst glory.

16 O liva verde, hermosa en fruto y en parecer, llamó el SEÑOR tu nombre. A la voz de gran palabra hizo encender fuego sobre ella, y quebraron sus ramas.

The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, beautiful in fruit and in appearance. At the voice of a great word he caused fire to be kindled upon it, and they broke her branches.

17 P ues el SEÑOR de los ejércitos, el que te planta, pronunció mal contra ti, a causa de la maldad de la Casa de Israel y de la Casa de Judá, que hicieron a sí mismos, provocándome a ira incensando a Baal.

For the LORD of the hosts, that planted thee, has pronounced evil against thee for the evil of the house of Israel and of the house of Judah, which they have done against themselves to provoke me to anger in offering incense unto Baal.

18 Y el SEÑOR me lo hizo saber, y lo conocí; entonces me hiciste ver sus obras.

¶ And the LORD gave me knowledge of it, and I experienced it: then thou didst show me their doings.

19 Y yo como carnero o buey que llevan a degollar, pues no entendía que maquinaban contra mí designios, diciendo: Destruyamos el árbol con su fruto, y cortémoslo de la tierra de los vivientes, y no haya más memoria de su nombre.

But I was like a ram or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; for I did not understand that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with its fruit, and let us cut him off from the land of the living that his name may no longer be remembered.

20 M as, oh SEÑOR de los ejércitos, que juzgas justicia, que pruebas los riñones y el corazón, vea yo tu venganza en ellos; porque a ti he descubierto mi causa.

But, O LORD of the hosts, that judges righteously, that tries the kidneys and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them, for unto thee I have uncovered my cause.

21 P or tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR acerca de los varones de Anatot, que buscan tu alma, diciendo: No profetices en nombre del SEÑOR, y no morirás a nuestras manos;

Therefore, thus hath the LORD said regarding the men of Anathoth that seek thy life, saying, Do not prophesy in the name of the LORD that thou not die by our hand;

22 p or tanto, así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: He aquí que yo los visito; los jóvenes morirán a espada; sus hijos y sus hijas morirán de hambre;

therefore, thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, Behold, I visit: the young men shall die by the sword; their sons and their daughters shall die by famine:

23 y no quedará remanente de ellos; porque yo traeré mal sobre los varones de Anatot, año de su visitación.

and there shall be no remnant of them: for I will bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their visitation.
