1 ¶ Del hombre son las preparaciones del corazón; mas del SEÑOR la respuesta de la lengua.
¶ Of man are the preparations of the heart, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.
2 ¶ Todos los caminos del hombre son limpios en su opinión; mas el SEÑOR pesa los espíritus.
¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits.
3 ¶ Encomienda al SEÑOR tus obras, y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.
¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.
4 ¶ Todas las cosas ha hecho el SEÑOR por sí mismo, y aun al impío para el día malo.
¶ The LORD has made all things by himself, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.
5 ¶ Abominación es al SEÑOR todo altivo de corazón; el pacto que él haga, no será sin castigo.
¶ Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; the covenant that he makes, shall not be without chastening.
6 ¶ Por la misericordia y la verdad será purgada la iniquidad; y con el temor del SEÑOR se aparta del mal.
¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.
7 ¶ Cuando los caminos del hombre son agradables al SEÑOR, aun a sus enemigos hacen estar en paz con él.
¶ When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.
8 ¶ Mejor es lo poco con justicia, que la muchedumbre de frutos con injusticia.
¶ Better is a little with righteousness than a great number of fruits with injustice.
9 ¶ El corazón del hombre piensa su camino; mas el SEÑOR endereza sus pasos.
¶ The heart of man devises his way, but the LORD directs his steps.
10 ¶ Sentencia divina está en los labios del rey; en juicio no prevaricará su boca.
¶ A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth does not transgress in judgment.
11 ¶ Peso y balanzas de juicio son del SEÑOR; obra suya son todas las pesas de la bolsa.
¶ A just weight and balance are the LORD’s; all the weights of the bag are his work.
12 ¶ Abominación es a los reyes hacer impiedad; porque con justicia será afirmado el trono.
¶ It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is to be established with righteousness.
13 ¶ Los labios justos son el contentamiento de los reyes; y aman al que habla lo recto.
¶ Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaks that which is right.
14 ¶ La ira del rey es mensajero de muerte; mas el hombre sabio la evitará.
¶ The wrath of the king is as a messenger of death, but the wise man will avoid it.
15 E n la luz del rostro del rey está la vida; y su benevolencia es como nube de lluvia tardía.
In the light of the king’s countenance is life, and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.
16 ¶ Mejor es adquirir sabiduría que oro preciado; y adquirir inteligencia vale más que la plata.
¶ How much better is it to acquire wisdom than gold! and to acquire understanding is worth more than silver!
17 ¶ El camino de los rectos es apartarse del mal; el que guarda su camino guarda su alma.
¶ The highway of the upright is to separate himself from evil; he that keeps his way preserves his soul.
18 ¶ Antes del quebrantamiento es la soberbia; y antes de la caída la altivez de espíritu.
¶ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.
19 ¶ Mejor es humillar el espíritu con los humildes, que partir despojos con los soberbios.
¶ It is better to humble your spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.
20 ¶ El entendido en la palabra, hallará el bien; y bienaventurado el que confía en el SEÑOR.
¶ He who has understanding in the word shall find good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.
21 ¶ El sabio de corazón es llamado entendido; y la dulzura de labios aumentará la doctrina.
¶ The wise in heart is called a man of understanding; and the sweetness of the lips shall increase doctrine.
22 ¶ Manantial de vida es el entendimiento al que lo posee; mas la erudición de los locos es locura.
¶ Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.
23 ¶ El corazón del sabio hace prudente su boca; y con sus labios aumenta la doctrina.
¶ The heart of the wise causes his mouth to be prudent, and with his lips he shall increase doctrine.
24 ¶ Panal de miel son los dichos suaves; suavidad al alma y medicina a los huesos.
¶ Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and medicine to the bones.
25 ¶ Hay camino que es derecho al parecer del hombre, mas su salida son caminos de muerte.
¶ There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
26 ¶ El alma del que trabaja, trabaja para sí; porque su boca le constriñe.
¶ The soul of him that labours, labours for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.
27 ¶ El hombre de Belial cava en busca del mal; y en sus labios hay como llama de fuego.
¶ The man of Belial digs in search of evil, and in his lips there is as a burning fire.
28 E l hombre perverso levanta contienda; y el chismoso aparta los príncipes.
The perverse man sows strife, and the tale bearer separates princes.
29 ¶ El hombre malo lisonjea a su prójimo, y le hace andar por el camino no bueno;
¶ The evil man flatters his neighbour and leads him into the way that is not good.
30 c ierra sus ojos para pensar perversidades; mueve sus labios, efectúa el mal.
He shuts his eyes to devise perverse things; moving his lips he brings evil to pass.
31 ¶ Corona de honra es la vejez, si se hallara en el camino de justicia.
¶ Old age is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.
32 ¶ Mejor es el que tarde se aíra que el fuerte; y el que se enseñorea de su espíritu, que el que toma una ciudad.
¶ He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.
33 ¶ La suerte se echa en el regazo; mas del SEÑOR es el juicio de ella.
¶ The lot is cast into the lap, but the judgment thereof is of the LORD.
