1 D el hombre son las disposiciones del corazón; Mas de Jehová es la respuesta de la lengua.

¶ Of man are the preparations of the heart, but the answer of the tongue is from the LORD.

2 T odos los caminos del hombre son limpios en su propia opinión; Pero Jehová pesa los espíritus.

¶ All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the spirits.

3 E ncomienda a Jehová tus obras, Y tus pensamientos serán afirmados.

¶ Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.

4 T odas las cosas ha hecho Jehová para sí mismo, Y aun al impío para el día malo.

¶ The LORD has made all things by himself, yea, even the wicked for the day of evil.

5 A bominación es a Jehová todo altivo de corazón; Ciertamente no quedará impune.

¶ Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD; the covenant that he makes, shall not be without chastening.

6 C on misericordia y verdad se corrige el pecado, Y con el temor de Jehová los hombres se apartan del mal.

¶ By mercy and truth iniquity is purged, and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil.

7 C uando los caminos del hombre son agradables a Jehová, Aun a sus enemigos hace estar en paz con él.

¶ When a man’s ways please the LORD, he makes even his enemies to be at peace with him.

8 M ejor es lo poco con justicia Que la muchedumbre de frutos sin derecho.

¶ Better is a little with righteousness than a great number of fruits with injustice.

9 E l corazón del hombre piensa su camino; Mas Jehová endereza sus pasos.

¶ The heart of man devises his way, but the LORD directs his steps.

10 O ráculo hay en los labios del rey; En juicio no prevaricará su boca.

¶ A divine sentence is in the lips of the king; his mouth does not transgress in judgment.

11 P eso y balanzas justas son de Jehová; Obra suya son todas las pesas de la bolsa.

¶ A just weight and balance are the LORD’s; all the weights of the bag are his work.

12 A bominación es a los reyes hacer impiedad, Porque con justicia será afirmado el trono.

¶ It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness, for the throne is to be established with righteousness.

13 L os labios justos son el contentamiento de los reyes, Y éstos aman al que habla lo recto.

¶ Righteous lips are the delight of kings, and they love him that speaks that which is right.

14 L a ira del rey es mensajero de muerte; Mas el hombre sabio la evitará.

¶ The wrath of the king is as a messenger of death, but the wise man will avoid it.

15 E n la alegría del rostro del rey está la vida, Y su benevolencia es como nube de lluvia tardía.

In the light of the king’s countenance is life, and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 M ejor es adquirir sabiduría que oro preciado; Y adquirir inteligencia vale más que la plata.

¶ How much better is it to acquire wisdom than gold! and to acquire understanding is worth more than silver!

17 E l camino de los rectos se aparta del mal; Su vida guarda el que guarda su camino.

¶ The highway of the upright is to separate himself from evil; he that keeps his way preserves his soul.

18 A ntes del quebrantamiento es la soberbia, Y antes de la caída la altivez de espíritu.

¶ Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.

19 M ejor es humillar el espíritu con los humildes Que repartir despojos con los soberbios.

¶ It is better to humble your spirit with the lowly than to divide the spoil with the proud.

20 E l entendido en la palabra hallará el bien, Y el que confía en Jehová es bienaventurado.

¶ He who has understanding in the word shall find good, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

21 E l sabio de corazón es llamado prudente, Y la dulzura de labios aumenta el saber.

¶ The wise in heart is called a man of understanding; and the sweetness of the lips shall increase doctrine.

22 M anantial de vida es el entendimiento al que lo posee; Mas la erudición de los necios es necedad.

¶ Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that has it, but the instruction of fools is folly.

23 E l corazón del sabio hace prudente su boca, Y añade gracia a sus labios.

¶ The heart of the wise causes his mouth to be prudent, and with his lips he shall increase doctrine.

24 P anal de miel son los dichos suaves; Suavidad al alma y medicina para los huesos.

¶ Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and medicine to the bones.

25 H ay camino que parece derecho al hombre, Pero su fin es camino de muerte.

¶ There is a way that seems right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

26 E l alma del que trabaja, trabaja para sí, Porque su boca le estimula.

¶ The soul of him that labours, labours for himself; for his mouth craves it of him.

27 E l hombre perverso cava en busca del mal, Y en sus labios hay como llama de fuego.

¶ The man of Belial digs in search of evil, and in his lips there is as a burning fire.

28 E l hombre perverso levanta contienda, Y el chismoso aparta a los mejores amigos.

The perverse man sows strife, and the tale bearer separates princes.

29 E l hombre malo lisonjea a su prójimo, Y le hace andar por camino no bueno.

¶ The evil man flatters his neighbour and leads him into the way that is not good.

30 C ierra sus ojos para pensar perversidades; Mueve sus labios, efectúa el mal.

He shuts his eyes to devise perverse things; moving his lips he brings evil to pass.

31 C orona de honra es la vejez Que se halla en el camino de justicia.

¶ Old age is a crown of glory if it is found in the way of righteousness.

32 M ejor es el que tarda en airarse que el fuerte; Y el que se enseñorea de su espíritu, que el que toma una ciudad.

¶ He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he that rules his spirit than he that takes a city.

33 L a suerte se echa en el regazo; Mas de Jehová es la decisión de ella.

¶ The lot is cast into the lap, but the judgment thereof is of the LORD.
