1 I srael es una frondosa viña, que da abundante fruto para sí mismo; conforme a la abundancia de su fruto multiplicó también los altares, conforme a la bondad de su tierra aumentaron sus ídolos.

¶ Israel is an empty vine. Shall he bring forth fruit unto himself? According to the multiplication of his fruit he has multiplied altars; according to the goodness of his land they have bettered their statues.

2 E stá dividido su corazón. Ahora serán hallados culpables; Jehová demolerá sus altares, destruirá sus ídolos.

Their heart has wandered; now they shall be found guilty: he shall break down their altars, he shall destroy their statues.

3 S eguramente dirán ahora: No tenemos rey, porque no temimos a Jehová; ¿y qué haría el rey por nosotros?

For now they shall say, We have no king, because we did not fear the LORD; what then should a king do to us?

4 H an hablado palabras jurando en vano al hacer pacto; por tanto, el juicio florecerá como ajenjo en los surcos del campo.

They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment shall spring up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.

5 P or las becerras de Bet-avén serán atemorizados los moradores de Samaria; porque su pueblo lamentará a causa del becerro, y sus sacerdotes que en él se regocijaban por su gloria, la cual será disipada.

The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn because of the calf, and the religious persons thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, which shall be made to vanish away.

6 A un será él llevado a Asiria como presente al rey Jareb; Efraín será avergonzado, e Israel se avergonzará de su consejo.

It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to King Jareb: Ephraim shall be ashamed, and Israel shall be confused at his own counsel.

7 D e Samaria fue cortado su rey como espuma sobre la superficie de las aguas.

As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the surface of the waters.

8 Y los lugares altos de Avén serán destruidos, el pecado de Israel; crecerá sobre sus altares espino y cardo. Y dirán a los montes: Cubridnos; y a los collados: Caed sobre nosotros.

And the altars of Aven shall be destroyed, the sin of Israel: the thorn and the thistle shall grow upon their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

9 D esde los días de Gabaa has pecado, oh Israel; allí estuvieron; no los tomó la batalla en Gabaa contra los inicuos.

¶ O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah; there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the sons of iniquity did not overtake them.

10 Y los castigaré cuando lo desee; y pueblos se juntarán sobre ellos cuando sean atados por su doble crimen.

And I shall chastise them as I desire; and the peoples shall gather themselves over them, when they shall be bound in their two furrows.

11 E fraín es novilla domada, que le gusta trillar, mas yo pasaré sobre su lozana cerviz; haré llevar yugo a Efraín; arará Judá, quebrará sus terrones Jacob.

Ephraim is a heifer that is taught and loves to tread out the wheat; but I shall pass over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to draw; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.

12 S embrad para vosotros en justicia, segad para vosotros en misericordia; haced para vosotros barbecho; porque es el tiempo de buscar a Jehová, hasta que venga y os enseñe justicia.

Sow yourselves unto righteousness, reap yourselves unto mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is the time to seek the LORD until he comes and teaches you righteousness.

13 H abéis arado impiedad, y segasteis iniquidad; comeréis fruto de mentira, porque confiaste en tu camino y en la multitud de tus valientes.

Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye shall eat the fruit of lies because thou didst trust in thy way and in the multitude of thy mighty men.

14 P or tanto, en tus pueblos se levantará alboroto, y todas tus fortalezas serán destruidas, como destruyó Salmán a Bet-arbel en el día de la batalla, cuando la madre fue destrozada con los hijos.

Therefore, in thy peoples a tumult shall arise, and all thy fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her sons.

15 A sí hará a vosotros Bet-el, por causa de vuestra gran maldad; a la mañana será del todo cortado el rey de Israel.

So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness; in the morning the king of Israel shall utterly be cut off.
