1 И зраел е лоза, която се разпростира и дава изобилно плод; колкото повече бяха плодовете му, толкова повече беше умножил жертвениците си; колкото по-хубава беше земята му, толкова по-хубави беше направил стълбовете си на идолите.

¶ Israel is an empty vine. Shall he bring forth fruit unto himself? According to the multiplication of his fruit he has multiplied altars; according to the goodness of his land they have bettered their statues.

2 С ърцето им е разделено; сега ще се окажат виновни; сам Той ще разкопае жертвениците им, ще строши стълбовете на идолите им.

Their heart has wandered; now they shall be found guilty: he shall break down their altars, he shall destroy their statues.

3 С игурно сега ще кажат: Ние нямаме цар, защото не се бояхме от Господа; и така, какво би ни ползвал цар?

For now they shall say, We have no king, because we did not fear the LORD; what then should a king do to us?

4 Г оворят празни думи, като се кълнат лъжливо, когато сключват завети; затова осъждението прониква като отровен плевел в браздите на нивите.

They have spoken words, swearing falsely in making a covenant: thus judgment shall spring up as hemlock in the furrows of the field.

5 С амарийските жители ще се разтреперят поради телетата на Вет-авен; защото народът му и неговите жреци, които се хвалеха с него поради славата му, ще ридаят за него, понеже славата се изгуби от него.

The inhabitants of Samaria shall fear because of the calves of Bethaven: for the people thereof shall mourn because of the calf, and the religious persons thereof that rejoiced on it, for the glory thereof, which shall be made to vanish away.

6 С ъщо и идолът ще бъде отведен в Асирия като подарък на цар Ярив; Ефрем ще бъде засрамен и Израел ще се посрами от своите разсъждения.

It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to King Jareb: Ephraim shall be ashamed, and Israel shall be confused at his own counsel.

7 К олкото до Самария, царят ѝ бе отхвърлен като пяна отвърху вода.

As for Samaria, her king is cut off as the foam upon the surface of the waters.

8 И високите места на Авен, Израелевия грях, ще бъдат съсипани; тръни и бодили ще поникнат върху жертвениците им; и те ще кажат на планините: Покрийте ни! И на хълмовете: Паднете върху нас!

And the altars of Aven shall be destroyed, the sin of Israel: the thorn and the thistle shall grow upon their altars; and they shall say to the mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.

9 И зраелю, ти си съгрешил от дните на Гавая; там застанаха и те; но битката против беззаконниците не ги стигна в Гавая.

¶ O Israel, thou hast sinned from the days of Gibeah; there they stood: the battle in Gibeah against the sons of iniquity did not overtake them.

10 К огато желая, ще ги накажа; и племената ще се съберат против тях, когато бъдат вързани поради двете си беззакония.

And I shall chastise them as I desire; and the peoples shall gather themselves over them, when they shall be bound in their two furrows.

11 Е фрем е научена телица, която обича да вършее; но Аз ще прекарам хомот върху нейния красив врат; ще впрегна Ефрем; Юда ще оре; Яков ще разбива определените му буци.

Ephraim is a heifer that is taught and loves to tread out the wheat; but I shall pass over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to draw; Judah shall plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.

12 П осейте за себе си с правда, пожънете с милост, разработете престоялата си земя; защото е време да потърсите Господа, докато дойде и ви напои правда.

Sow yourselves unto righteousness, reap yourselves unto mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is the time to seek the LORD until he comes and teaches you righteousness.

13 О рахте нечестие, пожънахте беззаконие, ядохте плода от лъжата; защото си уповал на своя си път, на многото си силни мъже.

Ye have plowed wickedness, ye have reaped iniquity; ye shall eat the fruit of lies because thou didst trust in thy way and in the multitude of thy mighty men.

14 З атова метеж ще се повдигне между племената ти и всичките ти крепости ще се разорят, както Салман разори Вет-арвел в деня на боя - когато майката беше смазана заедно с децата си.

Therefore, in thy peoples a tumult shall arise, and all thy fortresses shall be destroyed, as Shalman destroyed Betharbel in the day of battle: the mother was dashed in pieces upon her sons.

15 Т ака ще ви стори Ветил поради крайното ви беззаконие; рано Израелевият цар съвсем ще бъде отхвърлен.

So shall Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness; in the morning the king of Israel shall utterly be cut off.
