1 Б ратя мои, да не държите вярата на прославения наш Господ Исус Христос с лицеприятие.

¶ My brethren, do not have the faith of our Lord Jesus, the glorious Christ, with respect of persons.

2 З ащото ако влезе в синагогата ви човек със златен пръстен и с хубави дрехи, а влезе и сиромах със зацапани дрехи,

For if a man with a gold ring and in precious apparel comes into your synagogue and a poor person in vile raiment also comes in,

3 и погледнете с почит към онзи, който е с хубавите дрехи, и кажете: Ти седни тук на добро място; а на сиромаха кажете: Ти стой там, или: Седни до подножието ми,

and ye have respect to him that wears the precious clothing and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there or sit here under my footstool:

4 н е правите ли различия помежду им и не ставате ли пристрастни съдии?

Are ye not then judging in yourselves and are become judges of evil thoughts?

5 С лушайте, възлюбени мои братя: Не избра ли Бог онези, които са сиромаси в светските неща, но богати с вяра и наследници на царството, което е обещал на тези, които Го обичат?

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Has not God chosen the poor of this world that they might be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which he has promised to those that love him?

6 А вие презряхте сиромаха. Нали богатите ви угнетяват и те ви влачат по съдилища?

But ye have despised the poor. Do not the rich oppress you with tyranny and draw you with violence to the courts?

7 Н али те хулят почтеното име, с което се наричате?

Do they not blaspheme that worthy name by which ye are called?

8 О баче ако изпълнявате царския закон, според Писанието: "Да обичаш ближния си като себе си", добре правите.

¶ If ye truly fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well;

9 Н о ако гледате на лице, грях правите и от закона се осъждате като престъпници.

but if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin and are accused of the law as rebels.

10 З ащото който опази целия закон, а съгреши в едно нещо, бива виновен във всичко.

For whosoever shall have kept the whole law, and then offends in one point is made guilty of all.

11 П онеже Онзи, Който е казал: "Не прелюбодействай", казал е и: "Не убивай", така че ако не прелюбодействаш, а пък убиваш, станал си престъпник пред закона.

For he that said, Thou shalt not commit adultery, said also, Thou shalt not murder. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou commit murder, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

12 Т ака говорете и така постъпвайте, като човеци, които ще бъдат съдени по закона на свободата.

So speak ye and so do as those that shall be judged by the law of liberty.

13 З ащото съдът е немилостив към този, който не е показал милост. Милостта тържествува над съда. Вяра и дела

For judgment without mercy shall be done unto the one that has shown no mercy; and mercy boasts against judgment.

14 К аква полза, братя мои, ако някой казва, че има вяра, а няма дела? Може ли такава вяра да го спаси?

¶ My brethren, What shall it profit though someone says that they have faith and do not have works? Shall this type of faith be able to save them?

15 А ко някой брат или някоя сестра са голи и останали без ежедневна храна

If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food,

16 и някой от вас им каже: Идете си с мир, дано бъдете стоплени и нахранени, а не им дадете потребното за тялото, каква полза?

and one of you says unto them, Depart in peace; be ye warmed and filled; but ye do not give them those things which are needful for the body; what shall it profit them?

17 Т ака и вярата, ако няма дела, сама по себе си е мъртва.

Even so faith, if it does not have works, is dead in and of itself.

18 Н о ще каже някой: Ти имаш вяра, а пък аз имам дела; ако можеш, покажи ми вярата си без дела и аз ще ти покажа вярата си от моите дела.

But someone may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works; show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works.

19 Т и вярваш, че има само един Бог, добре правиш; и бесовете вярват и треперят.

Thou believest that God is one; thou doest well; the demons also believe and tremble.

20 О баче искаш ли да познаеш, о, суетни човече, че вяра без дела е безплодна?

But, O vain man, dost thou desire to know that faith without works is dead?

21 А враам, нашият отец, не се ли оправда чрез дела, като принесе сина си Исаак на жертвеника?

Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar?

22 Т и виждаш, че вярата действаше заедно с делата му и че чрез делата се усъвършенства вярата;

Dost thou not see how the faith worked together with his works, and the faith was complete by the works?

23 и се изпълни Писанието, което казва: "Авраам повярва в Бога; и това му се вмени за правда"; и се нарече Божий приятел.

And that the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness, and he was called the Friend of God.

24 В иждате, че чрез дела се оправдава човек, а не само чрез вяра.

Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not only by faith.

25 Т ака също и блудницата Раав не се ли оправда чрез дела, когато прие пратениците и ги изпрати бързо през друг път?

Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she received the messengers and sent them out another way?

26 З ащото както тялото, отделено от духа, е мъртво, така и вярата, отделена от дела, е мъртва.

For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
