1 О бходете улиците на Йерусалим и вижте сега, научете се и потърсете по площадите му дали можете да намерите човек - дали има някой, който да постъпва справедливо, да търси честност; и Аз ще простя на този град.

¶ Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem and see now and find out and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that execute judgment, that seek the truth; and I will pardon the city.

2 З ащото ако и да казват: Заклевам се в живота на Господа!, те наистина лъжливо се кълнат.

And if they should say, The LORD lives; surely they swear falsely.

3 Г осподи, очите Ти не търсят ли честност? Ударил си ги, но не ги заболя; изтощил си ги, но не искаха да приемат поправление; втвърдиха лицата си повече от камък; не искаха да се върнат.

O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? Thou hast stricken them, but they did not feel it; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive chastisement; they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.

4 Т огава аз казах: Навярно това са сиромасите, те са безумни, защото не знаят пътя Господен, нито закона на своя Бог.

Therefore I said, Surely these are poor; they have become foolish; for they do not know the way of the LORD nor the judgment of their God.

5 Щ е се обърна към големците и ще говоря с тях, защото те знаят пътя Господен, закона на своя Бог, но и те всички са строшили хомота, разкъсали са връзките.

I will go unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the yoke and burst the bonds.

6 З атова лъв от гората ще ги порази, вълк от пустинята ще ги ограби, рис ще причаква край градовете им; всеки, които излезе оттам, ще бъде разкъсан, защото престъпленията им са много, отстъпничествата им се умножиха.

Therefore a lion out of the forest shall slay them, and a wolf of the desert shall destroy them and a tiger shall lie in wait over their cities; anyone that goes out from there shall be torn in pieces because their rebellions have been multiplied, and their backslidings are increased.

7 К ак ще ти простя това? Децата ти Ме изоставиха и се кълняха в онези, които не са богове; след като ги наситих, те прелюбодействаха и на тълпи отиваха в къщите на блудниците.

How shall I pardon thee for this? Thy sons have forsaken me and sworn by them that are not gods: when I had fed them to the full, they then committed adultery and assembled themselves by troops in the harlots’ houses.

8 С утрин те са като нахранени коне; всеки цвили след жената на ближния си.

They were as fed horses in the morning; each one neighed after his neighbour’s wife.

9 Н яма ли да ги накажа за това?, казва Господ; и душата Ми няма ли да въздаде на такъв народ?

Shall I not visit for these things? said the LORD; and shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

10 К ачете се на стените му и събаряйте; но не нанасяйте съвършено изтребление; махнете клоните му, защото не са Господни.

¶ Go ye up upon her walls and destroy; but make not a full end; take away her battlements for they are not the LORD’s.

11 З ащото Израелевият дом и Юдовият дом се отнесоха много невярно към Мене, казва Господ.

For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have made a firm decision to rebel against me, saith the LORD.

12 О трекоха се от Господа, като казаха: Не Той ни заплашва с това; и няма да ни постигне зло, нито ще видим меч или глад;

They have denied the LORD and said, He is not; and evil shall not come upon us; neither shall we see sword nor famine;

13 п ророците са вятър и слово Господне няма в тях. За самите тях ще се сбъдне това.

but the prophets shall become like wind, and there is no word in them: thus shall it be done unto them.

14 З атова така казва Господ, Бог на Силите: Понеже изговарят тези думи, ето, Аз ще превърна Моите слова в устата ти в огън и този народ - в дърва, и ще ги изгори.

Therefore thus hath the LORD God of the hosts said: Because ye have spoken this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth fire and this people wood, and it shall devour them.

15 Е то, доме Израелев, Аз ще доведа върху вас народ отдалеч, казва Господ; народ траен е той, народ старовременен, народ, чийто език не знаеш, нито разбираш какво говорят.

Behold, I will bring a nation upon you from afar, O house of Israel, saith the LORD; it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou dost not know, neither dost thou understand what they say.

16 К олчанът им е като отворен гроб; те всички са юнаци.

Their quiver is as an open sepulcher; they are all mighty men.

17 Щ е изпояждат жътвата и хляба ти, които синовете и дъщерите ти трябваше да ядат; ще изпояждат стадата и чердите ти, ще изпояждат лозята и смокините ти, ще разбият с меч укрепените ти градове, на които ти уповаваш.

And they shall eat up thine harvest and thy bread, which thy sons and thy daughters should eat: they shall eat up thy flocks and thine herds; they shall eat up thy vines and thy fig trees; and thy fenced cities, in which thou dost trust, they shall bring to nothing with the sword.

18 Н о и в онези дни, казва Господ, не искам да ви нанеса свършено изтребление.

Nevertheless in those days, saith the LORD, I will not make a full end with you.

19 И когато кажете: Защо Господ, Бог наш, ни направи всичко това? Тогава да им кажеш: Както Ме изоставихте и служихте на чужди богове във вашата земя, така ще служите на чужденци в една земя, която не е ваша.

And it shall come to pass, when ye shall say, Why does the LORD our God do all these things unto us? Then thou shalt answer them, Like as ye have forsaken me and served strange gods in your land, so shall ye serve strangers in a land that is not yours.

20 И звестете това на Якововия дом и го прогласете в Юдея, като кажете:

¶ Declare this in the house of Jacob and publish it in Judah, saying,

21 Ч уйте сега това, глупав и неразумен народ, които имате очи, но не виждате, които имате уши, но не чувате.

Hear now this, O foolish people and without heart, who have eyes and do not see; who have ears, and do not hear:

22 Н е се ли боите от Мене?, казва Господ, няма ли да треперите пред Мене, Който с вечна заповед съм поставил пясъка за граница на морето, която то не може да премине; така че, макар вълните му да се издигат, пак няма да я преодолеят, при все че бучат, пак няма да я преминат?

Do ye not fear me? saith the LORD; will ye not tremble at my presence, who placed the sand for the bound of the sea by an eternal order, which cannot be broken? Storms shall raise themselves up, yet they shall not prevail; their waves shall roar, yet they shall not pass over it.

23 Н о този народ имат бунтовно и непокорно сърце; разбунтуваха се и отидоха.

But this people have a false and rebellious heart; they turned and went.

24 Н е казват в сърцето си: Нека се боим сега от Господа, нашия Бог, Който дава ранния и късния дъжд на времето му, Който пази за нас определените седмици на жътвата.

Neither do they say in their heart, Let us now fear the LORD our God that gives rain, both the former and the latter, in its season; he shall keep us with the appointed weeks of the harvest.

25 В ашите беззакония отвърнаха тези неща и вашите грехове ви лишиха от доброто.

¶ Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withheld good things from you.

26 З ащото между народа Ми се намират нечестивци, които, като наблюдават, както причакващ ловец, полагат примки, ловят хора.

For among my people were found wicked men: they lay in wait as he that sets snares; they set a trap of perdition to catch men.

27 К акто клетката е пълна с птици, така къщите им са пълни с плод на измама, чрез която те се възвеличиха и обогатиха.

As a cage full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit; thus they became great and rich.

28 З атлъстяха, лъщят, дори преляха със своите нечестиви дела; не защитават делото - делото на сирачето, за да благоденстват, и правото на бедните не отсъждат.

They are become fat; they shine; yea, they overpass in deeds of wickedness; they did not judge the cause, the cause of the fatherless; with all this they made themselves prosperous; and they did not judge the cause of the poor.

29 Н яма ли да ги накажа за това? - казва Господ, душата Ми няма ли да въздаде на такъв народ?

Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD; shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

30 У дивително и ужасно нещо стана в тази страна:

A horrible and ugly thing is committed in the land:

31 п ророците пророкуват лъжливо и свещениците господстват чрез тях; и народът Ми - така обича; а какво ще правите след края на всичко това?

The prophets prophesied falsely, and the priests bore rule by their hands; and my people love to have it so. What will ye do in the end thereof?
