1 О т Презвитера до избраната госпожа и до нейните деца, които аз наистина обичам (и не само аз, но и всички, които са познали истината):

¶ The elder unto the chosen lady and her sons, whom I love in the truth, and not I only, but also all those that have known the truth,

2 З аради истината, която пребъдва в нас и ще бъде с нас до века:

for the truth’s sake, which abides in us and shall be with us for ever.

3 Б лагодат, милост, мир да бъдат с нас от Бога Отца и от Господ Исус Христос, Син на Отца, в истина и любов.

Grace be with you, mercy and peace, from God the Father and from the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Father, in truth and charity.

4 М ного се зарадвах, че намерих някои от чедата ти да ходят в истината, както приехме заповед от Отца.

I have rejoiced greatly, for I have found of thy sons that they walk in the truth, as we have received the commandment from the Father.

5 И сега, госпожо, умолявам те, не като че ти пиша нова заповед, а тази, която имахме отначало: Да се обичаме един друг.

¶ And now I beseech thee, lady, (not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning) that we love one another.

6 И любовта е това: да ходим по Неговите заповеди. Тази е заповедта, в която трябва да ходите, както сте чули отначало.

And this is charity, that we walk after his commandment. And this is the commandment, That ye walk in him, as ye have heard from the beginning.

7 З ащото много измамници излязоха в света, които не изповядват идването на Исус Христос в плът. Такъв човек е измамник и антихрист.

¶ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who do not confess Jesus Christ coming in flesh. This same is a deceiver and antichrist.

8 Б ъдете бдителни към себе си, да не изгубите онова, което сте изработили, но да получите пълна награда.

Look to yourselves, that we not lose those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a fulfilled reward.

9 Н икой, който върви напред и не пребъдва в Христовото учение, няма Бога; този, който стои в учението, той има и Отца, и Сина.

Whosoever rebels and does not abide in the doctrine of the Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of the Christ, the same has the Father and the Son.

10 А ко някой дойде при вас и не носи това учение, недейте го приема вкъщи и не го поздравявайте,

¶ If anyone comes unto you and does not bring this doctrine, do not receive him into your house neither say unto him, Welcome:

11 з ащото който го поздравява, става участник в неговите зли дела.

For he that says unto him, Welcome, is partaker of his evil deeds.

12 И мам много да ви пиша, но не искам да пиша с книга и мастило, обаче се надявам да дойда при вас и да поговорим лице в лице, за да бъде радостта ни пълна.

¶ Having many things to write unto you, I would not write with paper and ink, but I trust to come unto you and speak face to face, that our joy may be full.

13 П оздравяват те чедата на твоята избрана сестра.

The sons of thy chosen sister greet thee. Amen.
