1 З ащото, ето, иде денят, който ще гори като пещ; и всички горделиви, и всички, които вършат нечестие, ще бъдат плява. И този ден, който иде, ще ги изгори, казва Господ на Силите, и няма да остане нито корен, нито клонче.

¶ For, behold, the day comes that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, and all that do wickedly shall be stubble; and the day that comes shall burn them up, said the LORD of the hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

2 А на вас, които се боите от името Ми, ще изгрее Слънцето на правдата с изцеление в крилата си; и ще излезете и ще се разиграете като телета из обора.

But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness be born, and in his wings he shall bring saving health; and ye shall go forth and jump like calves of the herd.

3 Щ е стъпчете нечестивите; защото те ще бъдат пепел под стъпалата на краката ви в деня, който определям, казва Господ на Силите. Илия като предвестник на деня Господен

And ye shall tread down the wicked; for they shall be ashes under the soles of your feet in the day that I make, said the LORD of the hosts.

4 П омнете закона на слугата Ми Моисей, който му заповядах в Хорив за целия Израел, т. е. наредбите и законите.

¶ Remember ye the law of Moses my slave, which I commanded unto him in Horeb statutes and my rights over all Israel.

5 Е то, Аз ще ви изпратя пророк Илия, преди да дойде великият и страшен ден Господен;

Behold, I send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and terrible day of the LORD:

6 и той ще обърне сърцето на бащите към децата и сърцето на децата - към бащите им, да не би да дойда и поразя земята с проклятие.

and he shall convert the heart of the fathers to the sons, and the heart of the sons to the fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with destruction.
