1 А дам позна жена си Ева; и тя зачена и роди Каин; и каза: С помощта на Господ придобих човек.

¶ And the man knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain and said, I have gained a man by the LORD.

2 Р оди още и брат му Авел. Авел пасеше стадо, а Каин беше земеделец.

And she again bore his brother Abel. And Abel was a pastor of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.

3 И след време Каин принесе от земните плодове принос на Господа.

¶ And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground a present unto the LORD.

4 Т ака също и Авел принесе от първородните на стадото си и от тлъстината му. И Господ погледна благосклонно към Авел и приноса му,

And Abel, he also brought of the firstborn of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD looked upon Abel and his present,

5 а към Каин и приноса му не погледна така. Затова Каин се огорчи твърде много и лицето му се помрачи.

but he did not look upon Cain and his present. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell.

6 И Господ каза на Каин: Защо си се разсърдил? И защо е помрачено лицето ти?

¶ Then the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?

7 А ко правиш добро, няма ли да бъде прието? Но ако не правиш добро, грехът лежи пред вратата и се стреми към тебе; но ти трябва да го покориш.

If thou doest good, it shall certainly be accepted; and if thou doest not good, sin lies at the door. And his desire shall be unto thee, but thou must rule over him.

8 К аин каза това на брат си Авел. И когато бяха на полето, Каин застана против брат си Авел и го уби.

¶ And Cain talked with Abel his brother, and it came to pass when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and slew him.

9 И Господ каза на Каин: Къде е брат ти Авел? А той отговори: Не зная; пазач ли съм аз на брат си?

¶ And the LORD said unto Cain, Where is Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not, Am I my brother’s keeper?

10 И Бог каза: Какво си направил? Гласът на братовата ти кръв вика към Мене от земята.

And he said, What hast thou done? The voice of thy brother’s blood cries unto me from the ground.

11 И сега, проклет си от земята, която отвори устата си да приеме кръвта на брат ти от твоята ръка.

And now thou art cursed from the earth, which has opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand;

12 К огато работиш земята, тя няма вече да ти дава силата си; беглец и скитник ще бъдеш на земята.

when thou tillest the ground, from now on it shall not yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth.

13 А Каин каза на Господа: Наказанието ми е толкова тежко, че не мога да го понеса.

¶ And Cain said unto the LORD, My iniquity is greater than I can bear.

14 Е то, днес ме гониш от лицето на тази земя; ще бъда скрит от Твоето лице и ще бъда бежанец и скитник по земята; и така всеки, който ме намери, ще ме убие.

Behold, thou hast driven me out this day from the face of the earth; and from thy face shall I hide; and I shall be a fugitive and a vagabond in the earth; and it shall come to pass that anyone that finds me shall slay me.

15 А Господ му отговори: Затова, който убие Каин, на него ще бъде отмъстено седмократно. И Господ определи белег за Каин, за да не го убива никой, който го намери.

And the LORD said unto him, Therefore whoever slays Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him sevenfold. And the LORD set a mark upon Cain, lest any finding him should kill him.

16 Т огава Каин излезе от Господнето присъствие и се засели в земята Нод, на изток от Едем. Потомството на Каин и Сит

¶ And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD and dwelt in the land of Nod on the east of Eden.

17 И Каин позна жена си, която зачена и роди Енох: и Каин съгради град и нарече града Енох, по името на сина си.

And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch; and he built a city and called the name of the city after the name of his son, Enoch.

18 И на Енох се роди Ирад; а от Ирад се роди Мехуяил; от Мехуяил се роди Метусаил; и от Метусаил се роди Ламех.

And unto Enoch was born Irad, and Irad begat Mehujael, and Mehujael begat Methusael, and Methusael begat Lamech.

19 Л амех си взе две жени; името на едната беше Ада, а името на другата Села.

¶ And Lamech took unto him two wives; the name of the one was Adah, and the name of the other Zillah.

20 А да роди Явал; той беше родоначалник на онези, които живеят в шатри и имат добитък.

And Adah bore Jabal; he was the father of those who dwell in tents and of those who have cattle.

21 И мето пък на брат му беше Ювал; той беше родоначалник на всички, които свирят с арфа и кавал.

And his brother’s name was Jubal; he was the father of all those who play the harp and organ.

22 Т ака и Села роди Тувал-Каин, ковач на всякакъв вид медно и желязно сечиво; а сестра на Тувал-Каин беше Наама.

And Zillah also bore Tubalcain, an instructor of every artificer in brass and iron; and the sister of Tubalcain was Naamah.

23 И Ламех каза на жените си: Адо и Село, чуйте гласа ми, жени Ламехови, слушайте думите ми, понеже мъж убих затова, че ме нарани. Да! Юноша - затова, че ме смаза.

¶ And Lamech said unto his wives, Adah and Zillah, Hear my voice; ye wives of Lamech, hearken unto my speech, for I shall slay a man for my wound and a young man for my hurt;

24 А ко на Каин се отмъсти седмократно, то на Ламех ще се отмъсти седемдесет и седемкратно.

if Cain shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy times seven.

25 И Адам пак позна жена си и тя роди син, когото наименува Сит, защото, казваше тя, Бог ми определи друга рожба вместо Авел, тъй като Каин го уби.

¶ And Adam knew his wife again, and she bore a son and called his name Seth; for God, said she, has appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

26 С ъщо и на Сит се роди син, когото наименува Енос. Тогава хората започнаха да призовават Господнето име.

And to Seth, to him also there was born a son; and he called his name Enos. Then men began to call upon the name of the LORD.
