1 И Павел насочи поглед към Синедриона и каза: Братя, до този ден съм живял пред Бога със съвършено чиста съвест.

¶ Then Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.

2 А първосвещеникът Анания заповяда на стоящите до него да го ударят по устата.

And the prince of the priests, Ananias, commanded those that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.

3 Т огава Павел му каза: Бог ще удари тебе, стена варосана; и ти си седнал да ме съдиш по закона, а в нарушение на закона заповядваш да ме ударят!

Then Paul said unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whitewashed wall, for dost thou sit to judge me after the law and command me to be smitten contrary to the law?

4 А стоящите наоколо казаха: Божия първосвещеник ли хулиш?

And those that stood by said, Dost thou revile God’s high priest?

5 И Павел каза: Не знаех, братя, че той е първосвещеник, защото е писано: "Да не злословиш началника на рода си."

Then Paul said, I did not know, brethren, that he was the prince of the priests, for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.

6 А когато Павел позна, че едната част са садукеи, а другите фарисеи, извика в Синедриона: Братя, аз съм фарисей, син на фарисеи; съдят ме поради надеждата и учението за възкресението на мъртвите.

¶ But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee, and of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

7 И когато каза това, възникна разпра между фарисеите и садукеите; и събранието се раздели.

And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and the multitude was divided.

8 З ащото садукеите казват, че няма възкресение, нито ангел, нито дух; а фарисеите признават и двете.

For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

9 И така възникна голяма глъчка; и някои книжници от фарисейската страна станаха и се препираха, като казваха: Никакво зло не намерихме у този човек; и какво да направим, ако му е говорил дух или ангел?

And there arose a great cry; and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man, but if a spirit or an angel has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

10 И понеже разпрата стана голяма, хилядникът, боейки се да не би да разкъсат Павел, заповяда на войниците да слязат и да го грабнат отсред тях, и да го заведат в крепостта.

And when there arose a great dissension, the tribunal, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces by them, commanded the soldiers to go down and to take him by force from among them and to bring him into the fortress.

11 А през следващата нощ Господ застана до него и каза: Дерзай, защото както си свидетелствал за Мене в Йерусалим, така трябва да свидетелстваш и в Рим. Заговорът срещу Павел

And the night following the Lord stood by him and said, Be of good cheer, Paul, for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou also bear witness at Rome.

12 И като се разсъмна, юдеите направиха заговор, обвързаха се с клетва и казаха, че няма да ядат, нито да пият, докато не убият Павел.

¶ And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together and they vowed under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed Paul.

13 Т ези, които направиха този заговор, бяха повече от четиридесет души.

And they were more than forty who had made this conspiracy.

14 Т е дойдоха при главните свещеници и старейшините и казаха: Обвързахме се с клетва - да не вкусим нищо, докато не убием Павел.

And they came to the princes of the priests and the elders and said, We have made a vow of anathema that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.

15 А сега вие със Синедриона заявете на хилядника да го доведе долу при вас, уж че искате да разучите по-точно неговото дело; а ние, преди той да наближи, сме готови да го убием.

Now therefore ye with the council signify to the tribunal that he bring him down unto you tomorrow, as though ye would enquire something more certain concerning him, and we, before he arrives, are ready to kill him.

16 Н о Павловият сестреник, като ги завари, чу заговора и влезе в крепостта, и съобщи на Павел.

And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their ambush, he went and entered into the fortress and told Paul.

17 Т огава Павел повика един от стотниците и му каза: Заведи това момче при хилядника, защото има да му съобщи нещо.

Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him and said, Bring this young man unto the tribunal, for he has a certain thing to tell him.

18 И той го взе, заведе го при хилядника и каза: Задържаният Павел ме повика и ме помоли да доведа това момче при тебе, защото имало да ти каже нещо.

So he took him and brought him to the tribunal and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him and asked me to bring this young man unto thee, who has something to say unto thee.

19 А хилядникът го взе за ръка и като се оттегли настрана, го попита насаме: Какво има да ми съобщиш?

Then the tribunal took him by the hand and went with him aside privately and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?

20 А той каза: Юдеите се наговориха да те помолят да заведеш Павел утре долу в Синедриона, като че ли искат да го разпитат повече по делото му.

And he said, The Jews have agreed to ask thee that thou would bring down Paul tomorrow into the council, as though they would enquire something more certain of him.

21 Н о ти недей ги слуша, защото го причакват повече от четиридесет души от тях, които са се обвързали с клетва, задължавайки се да не ядат, нито да пият, докато не го убият. Те още сега са готови и чакат само да им обещаеш.

But do not believe them, for more than forty of them lie in wait to ambush him, who have vowed under a curse that they will neither eat nor drink until they have killed him, and now they are ready, looking for a promise from thee.

22 И така, хилядникът остави момчето да си отиде, като му заръча: На никого да не кажеш, че си ми съобщил това. Отвеждането на Павел в Цезарея

So the tribunal then let the young man depart and charged him, See thou tell no one that thou hast showed these things to me.

23 Т огава повика двама от стотниците и им каза: Пригответе двеста пехотинци, седемдесет конници и двеста копиеносци да заминат за Цезарея в третия час на нощта.

And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea and seventy horsemen and two hundred spearmen, at the third hour of the night

24 П ригответе и добиче, на което да качат Павел и да го отведат в безопасност до управителя Феликс.

and provide them beasts that they may set Paul on and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.

25 Т ой написа и писмо, което имаше следното съдържание:

And he wrote a letter after this manner:

26 О т Клавдий Лисий до негово превъзходителство управителя Феликс: Поздрав!

Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sends greeting.

27 Т ози човек беше хванат от юдеите, които щяха да го убият; но аз пристигнах с войниците и го избавих, понеже научих, че бил римлянин.

This man was taken of the Jews and should have been killed by them; then I came with an army and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.

28 И като поисках да разбера причината, поради която го обвиняваха, заведох го долу в техния Синедрион;

And when I desired to know the cause of why they accused him, I brought him forth into their council,

29 и намерих, че го обвиняват по въпроси от техния закон; нямаше обаче никакво обвинение в нещо, достойно за смърт или окови.

whom I found to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.

30 И понеже ми обадиха, че щяло да има заговор против този човек, веднага го изпратих при тебе, като заръчах и на обвинителите му да се изкажат пред тебе против него. Остани със здраве.

And when it was told me how the Jews lay in wait to ambush the man, I sent straightway to thee and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell.

31 И така, войниците, според дадената им заповед, взеха Павел и го заведоха през нощта в Антипатрида.

Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul and brought him by night to Antipatris.

32 И на сутринта оставиха конниците да отидат с него, а те се върнаха в крепостта.

On the next day they left the horsemen to go with him and returned to the fortress,

33 А конниците, като влязоха в Цезарея и връчиха писмото на управителя, представиха му и Павел.

who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him.

34 А като го прочете, управителят го попита от коя област е; и като разбра, че е от Киликия, каза:

And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia,

35 Щ е те изслушам, когато дойдат и обвинителите ти. И заповяда да го пазят в преторията на Ирод.

I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall.
