1 R espondió Bildad suhita, y dijo:

¶ Then Bildad, the Shuhite, answered and said,

2 ¿ Hasta cuándo hablarás tales cosas, Y las palabras de tu boca serán como viento impetuoso?

How long wilt thou speak such things and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind?

3 ¿ Acaso torcerá Dios el derecho, O pervertirá el Todopoderoso la justicia?

Shall God pervert that which is right or shall the Almighty pervert justice?

4 S i tus hijos pecaron contra él, El los echó en el lugar de su pecado.

Because thy sons sinned against him, he cast them away in the place of their rebellion;

5 S i tú de mañana buscares a Dios, Y rogares al Todopoderoso;

if thou would seek God early and make thy supplication to the Almighty,

6 S i fueres limpio y recto, Ciertamente luego se despertará por ti, Y hará próspera la morada de tu justicia.

if thou wert pure and upright, surely now he would awake upon thee and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.

7 Y aunque tu principio haya sido pequeño, Tu postrer estado será muy grande.

In such a way that thy beginning would have been small, in comparison to the great increase of thy latter.

8 P orque pregunta ahora a las generaciones pasadas, Y disponte para inquirir a los padres de ellas;

¶ Ask, I pray thee, of the former age, and be willing to enquire of thy fathers regarding them;

9 P ues nosotros somos de ayer, y nada sabemos, Siendo nuestros días sobre la tierra como sombra.

for we are but of yesterday and know nothing because our days upon earth are as a shadow.

10 ¿ No te enseñarán ellos, te hablarán, Y de su corazón sacarán palabras?

Shall they not teach thee and tell thee and utter these words out of their heart?

11 ¿ Crece el junco sin lodo? ¿Crece el prado sin agua?

Can the rush grow up without mire? Can the meadow grow without water?

12 A un en su verdor, y sin haber sido cortado, Con todo, se seca primero que toda hierba.

Whilst it is yet in its greenness and not cut down, it withers before any other herb.

13 T ales son los caminos de todos los que olvidan a Dios; Y la esperanza del impío perecerá;

So are the paths of all that forget God, and the hypocrite’s hope shall perish.

14 P orque su esperanza será cortada, Y su confianza es tela de araña.

For his hope shall be cut off, and his trust is a spider’s web.

15 S e apoyará él en su casa, mas no permanecerá ella en pie; Se asirá de ella, mas no resistirá.

He shall lean upon his house, but it shall not stand; he shall hold it fast, but it shall not endure.

16 A manera de un árbol está verde delante del sol, Y sus renuevos salen sobre su huerto;

Like a tree, he is green before the sun, and his branches go forth over his garden;

17 S e van entretejiendo sus raíces junto a una fuente, Y enlazándose hasta un lugar pedregoso.

his roots weave themselves around a spring and secure themselves even in a stony place.

18 S i le arrancaren de su lugar, Este le negará entonces, diciendo: Nunca te vi.

If he is uprooted from his place, then it shall deny him, saying, I have not seen thee.

19 C iertamente este será el gozo de su camino; Y del polvo mismo nacerán otros.

Behold, this is the joy of his way, and out of the earth from where he was transplanted, others shall grow.

20 H e aquí, Dios no aborrece al perfecto, Ni apoya la mano de los malignos.

¶ Behold, God will not cast away a perfect man; neither will he help the evil doers.

21 A ún llenará tu boca de risa, Y tus labios de júbilo.

He will yet fill thy mouth with laughing and thy lips with shouts of joy.

22 L os que te aborrecen serán vestidos de confusión; Y la habitación de los impíos perecerá.

Those that hate thee shall be clothed with shame, and the dwelling place of the wicked shall come to nought.
