1 ¶ Y aconteció que el pueblo se quejó de mal manera a oídos del SEÑOR; y lo oyó el SEÑOR, y se enardeció su furor, y se encendió en ellos fuego del SEÑOR y consumió en el extremo del campamento.

¶ And it came to pass that the people complained in an evil manner in the ears of the LORD, and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled, and the fire of the LORD burnt among them and consumed in the uttermost parts of the camp.

2 E ntonces el pueblo dio voces a Moisés, y Moisés oró al SEÑOR, y se calmó el fuego.

Then the people cried unto Moses, and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

3 Y llamó a aquel lugar Tabera; porque el fuego del SEÑOR se encendió en ellos.

And he called the name of the place Taberah because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

4 ¶ Y el vulgo que se mezcló con ellos volvieron a sus deseos, y aun lloraron los hijos de Israel, y dijeron: ¡Quién nos diera a comer carne!

¶ And the vulgar who were mixed in among them returned to their lust; and even the sons of Israel wept and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

5 N os acordamos del pescado que comíamos en Egipto de balde, de los pepinos, y de los melones, y de los puerros, y de las cebollas, y de los ajos;

We remember the fish, which we freely ate in Egypt, the cucumbers and the melons and the leeks and the onions and the garlic,

6 y ahora nuestra alma se seca; que nada sino maná ven nuestros ojos.

but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all besides this manna before our eyes.

7 Y era el maná como semilla de culantro, y su color como color de bedelio.

And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.

8 E l pueblo se esparcía, y lo recogía, y lo molía en molinos, o lo majaba en morteros, y lo cocía en caldera, o hacía de él tortas; y su sabor era como sabor de aceite nuevo.

And the people scattered about and gathered it and ground it in mills or beat it in a mortar and baked it in pans and made cakes of it, and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.

9 Y cuando descendía el rocío sobre el campamento de noche, el maná descendía sobre él.

And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.

10 Y oyó Moisés al pueblo, que lloraba por sus familias, cada uno a la puerta de su tienda; y el furor del SEÑOR se encendió en gran manera; también le pareció mal a Moisés.

Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, each man in the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.

11 Y dijo Moisés al SEÑOR: ¿Por qué has hecho mal a tu siervo? ¿y por qué no he hallado gracia en tus ojos, que has puesto la carga de todo este pueblo sobre mí?

And Moses said unto the LORD, Why hast thou afflicted thy slave and why have I not found grace in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all these people upon me?

12 ¿ Concebí yo a todo este pueblo? ¿Lo engendré yo, para que me digas: Llévalo en tu seno, como lleva la que cría al que mama, a la tierra de la cual juraste a sus padres?

Have I conceived all these people? Have I begotten them, that thou should say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nurse carries a sucking child, unto the land which thou hast sworn unto their fathers?

13 ¿ De dónde tengo yo carne para dar a todo este pueblo? Porque vienen a mí llorando y diciendo: Danos carne que comamos.

Where should I find flesh to give unto all these people? For they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh that we may eat.

14 N o puedo yo solo soportar a todo este pueblo, que me es demasiado pesado.

I am not able to bear all these people alone because it is too heavy for me.

15 Y si así tienes que hacer tú conmigo, yo te ruego que me mates de repente, si he hallado gracia en tus ojos; y que yo no vea mi mal.

And if thou must deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found grace in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.

16 ¶ Entonces el SEÑOR dijo a Moisés: Júntame setenta varones de los ancianos de Israel, que tú sabes que son ancianos del pueblo y sus príncipes; y tráelos a la puerta del tabernáculo del testimonio, y esperen allí contigo.

¶ Then the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be elders of the people, and their princes; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the testimony that they may stand there with thee.

17 Y yo descenderé y hablaré allí contigo; y tomaré del espíritu que está en ti, y pondré en ellos; y llevarán contigo la carga del pueblo, y no la llevarás tú solo.

And I will come down and talk with thee there, and I will take of the spirit which is in thee and will put it upon them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.

18 P ero dirás al pueblo: Santificaos para mañana, y comeréis carne; porque habéis llorado en oídos del SEÑOR, diciendo: ¡Quién nos diera a comer carne! ¡Cierto mejor nos iba en Egipto! El SEÑOR, pues, os dará carne, y comeréis.

But thou shalt say unto the people, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow, and ye shall eat flesh, for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was better with us in Egypt. Therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.

19 N o comeréis un día, ni dos días, ni cinco días, ni diez días, ni veinte días;

Ye shall not eat one day nor two days nor five days neither ten days nor twenty days,

20 s ino hasta un mes de tiempo, hasta que os salga por las narices, y os sea en aborrecimiento; por cuanto menospreciasteis al SEÑOR que está en medio de vosotros, y llorasteis delante de él, diciendo: ¿Para qué salimos acá de Egipto?

But even a whole month, until it comes out of your nostrils and it becomes loathsome unto you, because ye have despised the LORD who is among you and have wept before him, saying, Why have we come forth out of Egypt?

21 E ntonces dijo Moisés: Seiscientos mil de a pie es el pueblo en medio del cual yo estoy; y tú dices: ¡Les daré carne, y comerán el tiempo de un mes!

Then Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen, and thou hast said, I will give them flesh that they may eat a whole month!

22 ¿ Se degollarán para ellos ovejas y bueyes que les basten? ¿o se juntarán para ellos todos los peces del mar para que tengan abasto?

Shall sheep and oxen be slain for them, to suffice them? Or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?

23 E ntonces el SEÑOR respondió a Moisés: ¿Se ha acortado la mano del SEÑOR? Ahora verás si te sucede mi dicho, o no.

Then the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD’s hand waxed short? Thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.

24 ¶ Y salió Moisés, y dijo al pueblo las palabras del SEÑOR; y juntó a los setenta varones de los ancianos del pueblo, y los hizo estar alrededor del tabernáculo.

¶ And Moses went out and told the people the words of the LORD and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people and set them round about the tabernacle.

25 E ntonces el SEÑOR descendió en la nube, y le habló; y tomó del espíritu que estaba en él, y lo dio a los setenta varones ancianos; y fue que, al reposar sobre ellos el espíritu, profetizaron, y no cesaron.

Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke unto him and took of the spirit that was in him and gave it unto the seventy elders, and it came to pass that when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied and did not cease.

26 Y habían quedado en el campamento dos de los varones, el uno se llamaba Eldad y el otro Medad, sobre los cuales también reposó el espíritu; estaban éstos entre los inscritos, mas no habían salido al tabernáculo; y comenzaron a profetizar en el campamento.

But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad and the name of the other Medad, upon whom the spirit also rested; and they were of those that were written, but they had not gone unto the tabernacle; and they began to prophesy in the camp.

27 Y corrió un joven, y dio aviso a Moisés, y dijo: Eldad y Medad profetizan en el campamento.

And a young man ran and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad prophesy in the camp.

28 E ntonces respondió Josué hijo de Nun, ministro de Moisés, uno de sus jóvenes, y dijo: Señor mío Moisés, impídelos.

Then Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.

29 Y Moisés le respondió: ¿Tienes tú celos por mí? Quisiera que todo el pueblo del SEÑOR fuera profeta, que el SEÑOR diera su espíritu sobre ellos.

And Moses said unto him, Art thou jealous for my sake? It would be good that all the LORD’s people were prophets and that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!

30 Y regresó Moisés al campamento, él y los ancianos de Israel.

And Moses withdrew into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.

31 ¶ Y salió un viento del SEÑOR, y trajo codornices del mar, y las dejó sobre el campamento, un día de camino a un lado, y un día de camino al otro, en derredor del campamento, y casi dos codos sobre la faz de la tierra.

¶ And there went forth a wind from the LORD and brought quail from the sea and left them upon the camp, a day’s journey on this side and a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp and almost two cubits high upon the face of the earth.

32 E ntonces el pueblo estuvo levantado todo aquel día, y toda la noche, y todo el día siguiente, y recogieron codornices; el que menos, recogió diez montones; y las tendieron para sí a lo largo en derredor del campamento.

Then the people stood up all that day and all that night and all the next day, and they gathered the quail; he that gathered least gathered ten heaps, and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.

33 A ún estaba la carne entre los dientes de ellos, antes que fuera mascada, cuando el furor del SEÑOR se encendió en el pueblo, e hirió el SEÑOR al pueblo con una plaga muy grande.

And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, before it was chewed, the wrath of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.

34 Y llamó el nombre de aquel lugar Kibrot-hataava, por cuanto allí sepultaron al pueblo codicioso.

And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah because there they buried the people that lusted.

35 D e Kibrot-hataava partió el pueblo a Hazerot, y pararon en Hazerot.

From Kibrothhattaavah he moved the people unto Hazeroth, and they abode at Hazeroth.
