1 ¶ Entonces llamando a sus doce discípulos, les dio potestad contra los espíritus inmundos, para que los echaran fuera, y sanaran toda enfermedad y toda flaqueza.

¶ Then calling his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of weakness.

2 Y los nombres de los doce apóstoles son éstos: el primero, Simón, que es llamado Pedro, y Andrés su hermano; Jacobo, hijo de Zebedeo, y Juan su hermano;

Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: the first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee and John his brother;

3 F elipe, y Bartolomé; Tomás, y Mateo el publicano; Jacobo hijo de Alfeo, y Lebeo, por sobrenombre Tadeo;

Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

4 S imón el cananeo y Judas Iscariote, que también le entregó.

Simon the Canaanite and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

5 ¶ A estos doce envió Jesús, a los cuales dio mandamiento, diciendo: Por el camino de los gentiles no iréis, y en ciudad de samaritanos no entréis;

¶ These twelve Jesus sent forth and commanded them, saying, Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter into any city of the Samaritans,

but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

7 Y yendo, predicad, diciendo: El Reino de los cielos ha llegado.

And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of the heavens has come.

8 S anad enfermos, limpiad leprosos, resucitad muertos, echad fuera demonios; de gracia recibisteis, dad de gracia.

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons; freely ye have received, freely give.

9 N o proveáis oro, ni plata, ni dinero en vuestros cintos;

Provide neither gold nor silver nor money in your girdles,

10 n i alforja para el camino; ni dos ropas de vestir, ni zapatos, ni bordón; porque el obrero digno es de su alimento.

nor bag for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes nor a staff, for the workman is worthy of his food.

11 M as en cualquier ciudad, o aldea donde entréis, buscad con diligencia quién sea en ella digno, y reposad allí hasta que salgáis.

And into whatever city or town ye shall enter, search out with diligence who in it is worthy; and there abide until ye go from there.

12 Y entrando en la casa, saludadla.

And entering into the house, salute it.

13 Y si la casa fuere digna, vuestra paz vendrá sobre ella; mas si no fuere digna, vuestra paz se volverá a vosotros.

And if the house is worthy, your peace shall come upon it; but if it is not worthy, your peace shall return to you.

14 Y cualquiera que no os recibiere, ni oyere vuestras palabras, salid de aquella casa o ciudad, y sacudid el polvo de vuestros pies.

And whosoever shall not receive you nor hear your words, depart out of that house or city and shake off the dust of your feet.

15 D e cierto os digo, que el castigo será más tolerable a la tierra de los de Sodoma y de los de Gomorra en el día del juicio, que a aquella ciudad.

Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of those of Sodom and those of Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.

16 ¶ He aquí, yo os envío como a ovejas en medio de lobos; sed pues prudentes como serpientes, e inocentes como palomas.

¶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be ye therefore prudent as serpents and innocent as doves.

17 Y guardaos de los hombres, porque os entregarán en concilios, y en sus sinagogas os azotarán;

But keep yourselves from men, for they will deliver you up in councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

18 Y aun a príncipes y a reyes seréis llevados por causa de mí, por testimonio a ellos y a los gentiles.

and ye shall even be brought before princes and kings for my sake, for testimony unto them and to the Gentiles.

19 M as cuando os entregaren, no os apuréis por cómo o qué hablaréis; porque en aquella hora os será dado qué habéis de hablar.

But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak, for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

20 P orque no sois vosotros los que habláis, sino el Espíritu de vuestro Padre que habla en vosotros.

For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

21 Y hermano entregará a hermano a la muerte, y padre a hijo; y los hijos se levantarán contra sus padres, y los harán morir.

And brother shall deliver up brother unto death, and the father the child, and children shall rise up against their parents and cause them to be put to death.

22 Y seréis aborrecidos de todos por mi nombre; mas el que persevere hasta el fin, éste será salvo.

And ye shall be hated of all men for my name, but he that endures to the end shall be saved.

23 M as cuando os persiguieren en esta ciudad, huid a la otra; porque de cierto os digo, que no acabaréis de andar todas las ciudades de Israel, antes que venga el Hijo del hombre.

But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another, for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel until the Son of man be come.

24 E l discípulo no es más que su maestro, ni el siervo más que su señor.

The disciple is not above his master, nor the slave above his lord.

25 B ástale al discípulo ser como su maestro, y al siervo como su señor. Si al padre de familia llamaron Beelzebú, ¿cuánto más a los de su casa?

It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the slave as his lord. If they have called the husband of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call those of his household?

26 A sí que, no los temáis; porque nada hay encubierto, que no haya de ser manifestado; ni oculto, que no haya de saberse.

Fear them not therefore, for there is nothing covered that shall not be revealed, nor hid that shall not be known.

27 L o que os digo en tinieblas, decidlo en luz; y lo que oís al oído, predicadlo desde los terrados.

What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light, and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye from the housetops.

28 Y no temáis a los que matan el cuerpo, mas al alma no pueden matar; temed antes a aquel que puede destruir el alma y el cuerpo en el infierno.

And fear not those who kill the body but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

29 ¿ No se venden dos pajarillos por un cuarto? Con todo, ni uno de ellos cae a tierra sin vuestro Padre.

Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

30 P ues aun vuestros cabellos están todos contados.

But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

31 A sí que, no temáis; más valéis vosotros que muchos pajarillos.

Fear ye not, therefore; ye are of more value than many sparrows.

32 C ualquiera pues que me confesare delante de los hombres, le confesaré yo también delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in the heavens.

33 Y cualquiera que me negare delante de los hombres, le negaré yo también delante de mi Padre que está en los cielos.

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father who is in the heavens.

34 N o penséis que he venido para meter paz en la tierra; no he venido para meter paz, sino espada.

Think not that I have come to introduce peace into the land; I came not to introduce peace, but a sword.

35 P orque he venido para hacer disensión del hombre contra su padre, y de la hija contra su madre, y de la nuera contra su suegra.

For I have come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

36 Y los enemigos del hombre serán los de su casa.

And a man’s foes shall be those of his own household.

37 E l que ama padre o madre más que a mí, no es digno de mí; y el que ama hijo o hija más que a mí, no es digno de mí.

He that loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and he that loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

38 Y el que no toma su madero, y sigue en pos de mí, no es digno de mí.

And he that does not take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.

39 E l que hallare su vida, la perderá; y el que perdiere su vida por causa de mí, la hallará.

He that finds his life shall lose it, and he that loses his life for my sake shall find it.

40 E l que os recibe a vosotros, a mí me recibe; y el que me recibe a mí, recibe al que me envió.

He that receives you receives me, and he that receives me receives him that sent me.

41 E l que recibe profeta en nombre de profeta, salario de profeta recibirá; y el que recibe justo en nombre de justo, salario de justo recibirá.

He that receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet’s reward, and he that receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man’s reward.

42 Y cualquiera que diere a uno de estos pequeñitos un vaso de agua fría solamente, en nombre de discípulo, de cierto os digo, que no perderá su salario.

And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
