1 E ntonces todo Israel se juntó a David en Hebrón, diciendo: He aquí nosotros somos tu hueso y tu carne.

¶ Then all Israel gathered themselves to David in Hebron, saying, Behold, we are thy bone and thy flesh.

2 Y además de esto ayer y anteayer, aun mientras Saúl reinaba, tú sacabas y metías a Israel. También el SEÑOR tu Dios te ha dicho: Tú apacentarás mi pueblo Israel, y tú serás príncipe sobre Israel mi pueblo.

And moreover yesterday and the day before yesterday, when Saul was king, it was thou that led out and brought in Israel; and the LORD thy God hath said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.

3 Y vinieron todos los ancianos de Israel al rey en Hebrón, y David hizo con ellos pacto delante del SEÑOR; y ungieron a David por rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR por mano de Samuel.

Therefore, all the elders of Israel came to the king in Hebron, and David made a covenant with them in Hebron before the LORD, and they anointed David king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Samuel.

4 E ntonces se fue David con todo Israel a Jerusalén, la cual es Jebus; porque allí el jebuseo habitaba en aquella tierra.

Then David and all Israel went to Jerusalem, which is Jebus, for there the Jebusites were, the inhabitants of that land.

5 Y los moradores de Jebus dijeron a David: No entrarás acá. Mas David tomó la fortaleza de Sion, que es la ciudad de David.

And the inhabitants of Jebus said to David, Thou shalt not enter here. Nevertheless, David took the fortress of Zion, which is the city of David.

6 Y David dijo: El que primero hiriere al jebuseo, será cabeza y príncipe. Entonces Joab hijo de Sarvia subió el primero, y fue hecho cabeza.

And David said, Whoever smites the Jebusites first shall be head and prince. So Joab, the son of Zeruiah, went up first and was made the head.

7 Y David habitó en la fortaleza, y por esto la llamaron la ciudad de David.

And David dwelt in the fortress; therefore, they called it the city of David.

8 Y edificó la ciudad alrededor, desde Millo alrededor; y Joab edificó el resto de la ciudad.

And he built the city round about, even from Millo round about, and Joab restored the rest of the city.

9 Y David iba adelantando y creciendo, y el SEÑOR de los ejércitos estaba con él.

So David waxed greater and greater, for the LORD of the hosts was with him.

10 ¶ Estos son los capitanes de los valientes que David tuvo, y los que le fortalecieron en su reino, con todo Israel, para hacerle rey sobre Israel, conforme a la palabra del SEÑOR.

¶ These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD.

11 Y éste es el número de los valientes que David tuvo: Jasobeam hijo de Hacmoni, príncipe de los treinta, el cual blandió su lanza una vez contra trescientos, a los cuales mató.

And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had: Jashobeam, of Hachmoni, the chief of the captains; he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain at one time and killed them.

12 T ras de éste fue Eleazar hijo de Dodo, ahohíta, el cual era de los tres valientes.

And after him was Eleazar, the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties.

13 E ste estuvo con David en Pasdamim, estando allí juntos en batalla los filisteos; y había allí una heredad de tierra llena de cebada, y huyendo el pueblo delante de los filisteos,

He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where there was an inheritance of land full of barley; and as the people fled from before the Philistines,

14 s e pusieron ellos en medio del cultivo, y la defendieron, y vencieron a los filisteos; y los salvó el SEÑOR de gran salvación.

they set themselves in the midst of that portion and delivered it and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great salvation.

15 Y tres de los treinta principales descendieron a la peña a David, a la cueva de Adulam, estando el campamento de los filisteos en el valle de Refaim.

Now three of the thirty principal ones went down to the rock to David, into the cave of Adullam; and the camp of the Philistines was pitched in the valley of Rephaim.

16 Y David estaba entonces en la fortaleza, y la guarnición de los filisteos estaba en Belén.

And David was then in the fortress, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Bethlehem.

17 D avid deseó entonces, y dijo: ¡Quién me diera a beber de las aguas del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta!

And David longed and said, Oh, that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate!

18 Y aquellos tres irrumpieron por el campamento de los filisteos, y sacaron agua del pozo de Belén, que está a la puerta, y tomaron y la trajeron a David; mas él no la quiso beber, sino que la derramó al SEÑOR, y dijo:

And those three broke through the camp of the Philistines and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate and took it and brought it to David; but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD,

19 G uárdeme mi Dios de hacer esto. ¿Había yo de beber la sangre de estos varones con sus vidas, que con peligro de sus vidas la han traído? Y no la quiso beber. Esto hicieron aquellos tres valientes.

and said, May God keep me from doing this thing. Shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? For with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore, he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.

20 Y Abisai, hermano de Joab, era cabeza de tres, el cual blandió su lanza sobre trescientos, a los cuales hirió; y fue entre los tres nombrado.

And Abishai, the brother of Joab, was chief of three, who had lifted up his spear against three hundred, whom he slew and had a name among the three.

21 Y fue el más ilustre de los tres en el segundo ternario, y fue príncipe de ellos; mas no llegó a los tres primeros.

Of the three, he obtained the most honour in this second group of three, for he was their prince; however, he did not attain to the first three.

22 B enaía hijo de Joiada, hijo de varón de esfuerzo, de grandes hechos, de Cabseel; él venció los dos leones de Moab; también descendió, e hirió un león en mitad de un foso en tiempo de nieve.

Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, the son of a valiant man, of great acts, of Kabzeel; he slew two lions of Moab; he also went down and slew a lion in the middle of a pit on a snowy day.

23 E l mismo venció a un egipcio, hombre de cinco codos de estatura; y el egipcio traía una lanza como un rodillo de un telar; mas él descendió a él con un bastón, y arrebató al egipcio la lanza de la mano, y lo mató con su misma lanza.

And he slew an Egyptian, a man of great stature, five cubits high; and in the Egyptian’s hand was a spear like a weaver’s beam; and he went down to him with a staff and plucked the spear out of the Egyptian’s hand and slew him with his own spear.

24 E sto hizo Benaía hijo de Joiada, y fue nombrado entre los tres valientes.

These things did Benaiah, the son of Jehoiada, and had the name among the three mighties.

25 Y fue el más honrado de los treinta, mas no llegó a los tres primeros. A éste puso David en su consejo.

He was the most honoured among the thirty, but did not attain to the first three. And David placed him in his council.

26 Y los valientes de los ejércitos: Asael hermano de Joab, y Elhanan hijo de Dodo de Belén;

Also the valiant men of the armies were Asahel the brother of Joab, Elhanan, the son of Dodo of Bethlehem,

27 S amot de Arori, Heles, el pelonita;

Shammoth of Harori, Helez, the Pelonite,

28 I ra hijo de Iques, el tecoíta, Abiezer, el anatotita;

Ira, the son of Ikkesh, the Tekoite, Abiezer, the Antothite,

29 S ibecai, el husatita, Ilai, el ahohíta;

Sibbecai, the Hushathite, Ilai, the Ahohite,

30 M aharai, el netofatita, Heled hijo de Baana, el netofatita;

Maharai, the Netophathite, Heled, the son of Baanah, the Netophathite,

31 I tai hijo de Ribai de Gabaa de los hijos de Benjamín, Benaía, el piratonita;

Ithai, the son of Ribai of Gibeah, that pertained to the sons of Benjamin, Benaiah, the Pirathonite,
