1 ¶ Y dijo Samuel a todo Israel: He aquí, yo he oído vuestra voz en todas las cosas que me habéis dicho, y os he puesto rey.

¶ And Samuel said unto all Israel, Behold, I have hearkened unto your voice in all that ye said unto me and have made a king over you.

2 A hora, pues, he aquí vuestro rey va delante de vosotros. Yo soy ya viejo y cano; mas mis hijos están con vosotros, y yo he andado delante de vosotros desde mi juventud hasta este día.

And now, behold, your king walks before you. I am old and grayheaded, and, behold, my sons are with you, and I have walked before you from my childhood unto this day.

3 A quí estoy; atestiguad contra mí delante del SEÑOR y delante de su ungido, si he tomado el buey de alguno, o si he tomado el asno de alguno, o si he calumniado a alguien, o si he agraviado a alguno, o si de alguien he tomado cohecho por el cual haya cubierto mis ojos; y os satisfaré.

Behold, here I am; witness against me before the LORD and before his anointed. If I have taken anyone’s ox or if I have taken anyone’s ass or if I have defrauded anyone or if I have oppressed anyone or if I have received a bribe from anyone to blind my eyes, I will restore it you.

4 E ntonces dijeron: Nunca nos has calumniado, ni agraviado, ni has tomado algo de mano de ningún hombre.

And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us nor oppressed us; neither hast thou taken anything of any man’s hand.

5 Y él les dijo: El SEÑOR es testigo contra vosotros, y su ungido también es testigo en este día, que no habéis hallado en mi mano cosa ninguna. Y ellos respondieron: Así es.

And he said unto them, The LORD is witness against you, and his anointed is witness this day that ye have not found anything in my hand. And they answered, He is witness.

6 ¶ Entonces Samuel dijo al pueblo: el SEÑOR es quien hizo a Moisés y a Aarón, y que sacó a vuestros padres de la tierra de Egipto.

¶ Then Samuel said unto the people, The LORD is he who advanced Moses and Aaron and who brought your fathers up out of the land of Egypt.

7 A hora, pues, aguardad, y yo os pondré demanda delante del SEÑOR de todas las justicias del SEÑOR, que ha hecho con vosotros y con vuestros padres.

Now, therefore, stand still that I may contend with you before the LORD of all the righteousnesses of the LORD which he did to you and to your fathers.

8 D espués que Jacob hubo entrado en Egipto y vuestros padres clamaron al SEÑOR, el SEÑOR envió a Moisés y a Aarón, los cuales sacaron a vuestros padres de Egipto, y los hicieron habitar en este lugar.

After Jacob had entered into Egypt and your fathers cried unto the LORD, then the LORD sent Moses and Aaron who brought forth your fathers out of Egypt and made them dwell in this place.

9 Y olvidaron al SEÑOR su Dios, y él los vendió en la mano de Sísara capitán del ejército de Hazor, y en la mano de los filisteos, y en la mano del rey de Moab, los cuales les hicieron guerra.

And when they forgot the LORD their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor and into the hand of the Philistines and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

10 Y ellos clamaron al SEÑOR, y dijeron: Pecamos, porque hemos dejado al SEÑOR, y hemos servido a los baales y a Astarot; líbranos, pues, ahora de la mano de nuestros enemigos, y te serviremos.

And they cried unto the LORD and said, We have sinned because we have forsaken the LORD and have served the Baalim and Ashtaroth, but now deliver us out of the hand of our enemies, and we will serve thee.

11 E ntonces el SEÑOR envió a Jerobaal, a Bedán, a Jefté, y a Samuel, y os libró de mano de vuestros enemigos alrededor, y habitasteis seguros.

Then the LORD sent Jerubbaal and Bedan and Jephthah and Samuel and delivered you out of the hand of your enemies on every side, and ye dwelt safe.

12 Y habiendo visto que Nahas rey de lo hijos de Amón venía contra vosotros, me dijisteis: No, sino rey reinará sobre nosotros; siendo vuestro Rey el SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

And when ye saw that Nahash, the king of the sons of Ammon, came against you, ye said unto me, No, but a king shall reign over us when the LORD your God was your king.

13 A hora, pues, ved aquí vuestro rey que habéis elegido, el cual pedisteis; ya veis que el SEÑOR ha puesto sobre vosotros rey.

Now, therefore, behold the king whom ye have chosen and whom ye have desired! Behold, the LORD has set a king over you.

14 S i temiereis al SEÑOR y le sirviereis, y oyereis su voz, y no fuereis rebeldes a la palabra del SEÑOR, así vosotros como el rey que reina sobre vosotros, seréis en pos del SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

If ye will fear the LORD and serve him and hear his voice and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigns over you continue following the LORD your God.

15 M as si no oyereis la voz del SEÑOR, y si fuereis rebeldes a las palabras del SEÑOR, la mano del SEÑOR será contra vosotros como contra vuestros padres.

But if ye will not hear the voice of the LORD but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then the hand of the LORD shall be against you as it was against your fathers.

16 ¶ Esperad aún ahora, y mirad esta gran cosa que el SEÑOR hará delante de vuestros ojos.

¶ Now, therefore, stand and see this great thing, which the LORD will do before your eyes.

17 ¿ No es ahora la siega de los trigos? Yo clamaré al SEÑOR, y él dará truenos y aguas; para que conozcáis y veáis que es grande vuestra maldad que habéis hecho en los ojos del SEÑOR, pidiéndoos rey.

Is it not wheat harvest to day? I will call unto the LORD, and he shall send thunder and rain that ye may perceive and see that your wickedness is great which ye have done in the sight of the LORD in asking for a king over you.

18 Y Samuel clamó al SEÑOR; y el SEÑOR dio truenos y lluvias en aquel día; y todo el pueblo temió en gran manera al SEÑOR y a Samuel.

So Samuel called unto the LORD, and the LORD sent thunder and rain that day, and all the people greatly feared the LORD and Samuel.

19 E ntonces dijo todo el pueblo a Samuel: Ruega por tus siervos al SEÑOR tu Dios, que no muramos; porque a todos nuestros pecados hemos añadido este mal de pedir rey para nosotros.

And all the people said unto Samuel, Pray for thy slaves unto the LORD thy God that we not die, for we have added unto all our sins this evil, to ask for a king over us.

20 Y Samuel respondió al pueblo: No temáis; vosotros habéis cometido todo este mal; mas con todo eso no os apartéis de en pos del SEÑOR, sino servid al SEÑOR con todo vuestro corazón.

And Samuel said unto the people, Do not fear. Ye have done all this wickedness, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart;

21 N o os apartéis en pos de las vanidades, que no aprovechan ni libran, porque son vanidades.

do not turn aside after vain things which cannot profit nor deliver, for they are vain.

22 P ues el SEÑOR no desamparará a su pueblo, por su grande nombre; porque el SEÑOR ha querido haceros pueblo suyo.

For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name’s sake because it has pleased the LORD to make you his people.

23 A sí que, lejos sea de mí que peque yo contra el SEÑOR cesando de rogar por vosotros; antes yo os enseñaré por el camino bueno y derecho.

Moreover as for me, in no wise should I sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you, but I will teach you the good and the right way.

24 S olamente temed al SEÑOR, y servidle de verdad con todo vuestro corazón, porque considerad cuán grandes cosas ha hecho con vosotros.

Only fear the LORD and serve him in truth with all your heart, for consider what great things he has done with you.

25 M as si perseverareis en hacer mal, vosotros y vuestro rey pereceréis.

But if ye shall persevere in doing wickedly, both ye and your king shall perish.
