1 ¶ Y aconteció que, estando ya el rey asentado en su casa, después que el SEÑOR le había dado reposo de todos sus enemigos de alrededor,

¶ And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house and the LORD had given him rest from all his enemies around him,

2 d ijo el rey al profeta Natán: Mira ahora, yo moro en casas de cedro, y el arca de Dios está entre cortinas.

that the king said unto Nathan, the prophet, See now, I dwell in a house of cedar, but the ark of God dwells within curtains.

3 Y Natán dijo al rey: Anda, y haz todo lo que está en tu corazón, que el SEÑOR está contigo.

And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thy heart, for the LORD is with thee.

4 ¶ Y aconteció aquella noche, que vino palabra del SEÑOR a Natán, diciendo:

¶ And it came to pass that night that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,

5 V e y di a mi siervo David: Así dijo el SEÑOR: ¿Tú me has de edificar casa en que yo more?

Go and tell my slave David, Thus hath the LORD said, Shalt thou build me a house for me to dwell in?

6 C iertamente no he habitado en casas desde el día que saqué a los hijos de Israel de Egipto hasta hoy, sino que he andado en tienda y en tabernáculo.

For I have not dwelt in any house since the time that I brought up the sons of Israel out of Egypt, even to this day, but have walked in a tent and in a tabernacle.

7 Y en todo cuanto he andado con todos los hijos de Israel, ¿he hablado palabra en alguna de las tribus de Israel, a quien haya mandado que apaciente mi pueblo de Israel, para decir: ¿Por qué no me habéis edificado casa de cedros?

In all the places in which I have walked with all the sons of Israel did I speak a word in any of the tribes of Israel, unto whom I commanded to feed my people Israel, saying, Why did ye not build me a house of cedar?

8 A hora pues, dirás así a mi siervo David: Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: Yo te tomé de la majada, de detrás de las ovejas, para que fueras príncipe sobre mi pueblo, sobre Israel;

Now, therefore, so shalt thou say unto my slave David, Thus hath the LORD of the hosts said, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be prince over my people, over Israel;

9 y he estado contigo en todo cuanto has andado, y delante de ti he talado todos tus enemigos, y te he hecho nombre grande, como el nombre de los grandes que están en la tierra.

and I have been with thee wherever thou didst walk and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.

10 A demás yo pondré lugar a mi pueblo Israel, y yo lo plantaré, para que habite en su lugar, y nunca más sea removido, ni los hijos de la iniquidad le aflijan más, como antes,

Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel and will plant them, that they may dwell in their place and never again be removed; neither shall the sons of iniquity afflict them any more as before,

11 d esde el día que puse jueces sobre mi pueblo Israel. Y yo te daré descanso de todos tus enemigos. Asimismo el SEÑOR te hace saber, que él te quiere hacer casa a ti.

since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. And I will cause thee to rest from all thy enemies. Likewise, the LORD makes thee to know that he will make thee a house.

12 Y cuando tus días fueren cumplidos, y durmieres con tus padres, yo afirmaré tu simiente después de ti, la cual procederá de tus entrañas, y afirmaré su reino.

And when thy days are fulfilled and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.

13 E l edificará casa a mi nombre, y yo afirmaré para siempre el trono de su reino.

He shall build a house for my name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom for ever.

14 Y o le seré a él padre, y él me será a mí hijo. Y si él cometiere iniquidad, yo le castigaré con vara de hombres, y con azotes de hijos de hombres;

I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the stripes of the sons of men;

15 p ero mi misericordia no se apartará de él, como la aparté de Saúl, al cual quité de delante de ti.

but my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I took away from before thee.

16 Y será afirmada tu casa y tu reino para siempre delante de tu rostro; y tu trono será firme eternalmente.

And thy house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee; thy throne shall be established for ever.

17 C onforme a todas estas palabras, y conforme a toda esta visión, así habló Natán a David.

According to all these words and according to all this vision, so did Nathan speak unto David.

18 ¶ Y entró el rey David, y se sentó delante del SEÑOR, y dijo: Señor DIOS, ¿Quién soy yo, y qué es mi casa, para que tú me traigas hasta aquí?

¶ Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said, O Lord GOD, Who am I and what is my house that thou hast brought me thus far?

19 Y aun te ha parecido poco esto, Señor DIOS, sino que hablas también de la casa de tu siervo en lo por venir, y que sea ésta la condición de un hombre, Señor DIOS.

And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy slave’s house for a great while to come and that this shall be the condition of a man, O Lord GOD.

20 ¿ Y qué más puede añadir David hablando contigo? Tú pues conoces a tu siervo, Señor DIOS.

And what more can David say unto thee? For thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy slave.

21 T odas estas grandezas has obrado por tu palabra y conforme a tu corazón, haciéndolas saber a tu siervo.

For thou hast done all these great things by thy word and according to thine own heart to make thy slave know them.

22 P or tanto tú te has engrandecido, SEÑOR Dios; por cuanto no hay otro como tú, ni hay Dios fuera de ti, conforme a todo lo que hemos oído con nuestros oídos.

Therefore, thou art great, O LORD God, for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears.

23 ¿ Y quién como tu pueblo, como Israel, en la tierra? Un gentil por amor del cual Dios fuera a redimírselo por pueblo, y le pusiera nombre, e hiciera con vosotros, grandes y espantosas obras en tu tierra, por causa de tu pueblo el que tú rescataste de Egipto, de los gentiles y de sus dioses.

And who in the earth is like thy people, like Israel? A Gentile for the love of whom God went to ransom as a people to himself and to give him a name and to do with you great and terrible things in thy land because of thy people whom thou didst redeem unto thee from Egypt, from the Gentiles and their gods?

24 P orque tú has confirmado a tu pueblo Israel por pueblo tuyo para siempre; y tú, oh SEÑOR, fuiste a ellos por Dios.

For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be thy people for ever, and thou, LORD, have become their God.

25 A hora pues, SEÑOR Dios, la palabra que has hablado sobre tu siervo y sobre su casa, despiértala eternalmente, y haz conforme a lo que has dicho.

And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy slave and concerning his house, raise it up for ever and do as thou hast said.

26 P orque así será engrandecido tu nombre para siempre, para que se diga: El SEÑOR de los ejércitos es Dios sobre Israel; y que la casa de tu siervo David sea firme delante de ti.

For thus shall thy name be magnified for ever that it may be said, The LORD of the hosts is God over Israel and that the house of thy slave David be established before thee.

27 P orque tú, SEÑOR de los ejércitos, Dios de Israel, revelaste al oído de tu siervo, diciendo: Yo te edificaré casa. Por esto tu siervo ha hallado en su corazón para orar delante de ti esta oración.

For thou, O LORD of the hosts, God of Israel, hast revealed to thy slave, saying, I will build thee a house. Therefore, thy slave has found it in his heart to pray this prayer in thy presence.

28 A hora pues, SEÑOR Dios, tú eres Dios, y tus palabras serán firmes; pues has dicho a tu siervo este bien.

And now, O Lord GOD, thou art God, and thy words shall be firm, and thou hast spoken this goodness unto thy slave.

29 A hora pues, quiere, y bendice a la casa de tu siervo, para que perpetuamente permanezca delante de ti; pues que tú, el SEÑOR Dios, lo has dicho, y con tu bendición será bendita la casa de tu siervo para siempre.

Therefore, now let it please thee to bless the house of thy slave that it may continue for ever before thee, for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it, and with thy blessing the house of thy slave shall be blessed for ever.
