1 ¶ Entonces Josué llamó a los rubenitas y a los gaditas, y a la media tribu de Manasés,

¶ Then Joshua called the Reubenites and the Gadites and the half tribe of Manasseh

2 y les dijo: Vosotros habéis guardado todo lo que Moisés siervo del SEÑOR os mandó, y habéis escuchado mi voz en todo lo que os he mandado.

and said unto them, Ye have kept all that Moses the slave of the LORD commanded you and have obeyed my voice in all that I commanded you.

3 N o habéis dejado a vuestros hermanos en estos muchos días hasta hoy, antes habéis guardado la observancia de los mandamientos del SEÑOR vuestro Dios.

Ye have not left your brethren these many days unto this day but have kept the charge of the commandment of the LORD your God.

4 A hora pues que el SEÑOR vuestro Dios ha dado reposo a vuestros hermanos, como se lo había prometido, volved, y regresad a vuestras tiendas, a la tierra de vuestras posesiones, que Moisés siervo del SEÑOR os dio al otro lado del Jordán.

And now the LORD your God has given rest unto your brethren, as he promised them; therefore now return and go to your tents and unto the land of your possessions which Moses the slave of the LORD gave you on the other side of the Jordan.

5 S olamente que con diligencia os guardéis haciendo lo del mandamiento y la ley, que Moisés siervo del SEÑOR os mandó: que améis al SEÑOR vuestro Dios, y andéis en todos sus caminos; que guardéis sus mandamientos, y os acerquéis a él, y le sirváis con todo vuestro corazón y con toda vuestra alma.

Only that with diligence ye keep yourselves doing the commandment and the law, which Moses, the slave of the LORD, charged you: to love the LORD your God and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cleave unto him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.

6 Y bendiciéndolos Josué, los envió; y se fueron a sus tiendas.

So Joshua, blessing them, sent them; and they went unto their tents.

7 T ambién a la media tribu de Manasés había dado Moisés posesión en Basán; mas a la otra media tribu dio Josué heredad entre sus hermanos de este lado del Jordán al occidente; y también a éstos envió Josué a sus tiendas, después de haberlos bendecido.

Now to the one half of the tribe of Manasseh, Moses had given possession in Bashan; but unto the other half Joshua gave inheritance among their brethren on this side of the Jordan to the west. And Joshua also sent these to their tents, after having blessed them,

8 Y les habló, diciendo: Volveos a vuestras tiendas con grandes riquezas, y con gran copia de ganado, con plata, oro, bronce, y hierro, y muchos vestidos; repartid con vuestros hermanos el despojo de vuestros enemigos.

And he spoke unto them, saying, Return with great riches unto your tents and with a great amount of cattle with silver, with gold, with brass, with iron, and with very much clothing; divide the spoil of your enemies with your brethren.

9 Y los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, se volvieron partiendo de los hijos de Israel, de Silo, que está en la tierra de Canaán, para ir a la tierra de Galaad, a la tierra de sus posesiones, de la cual eran poseedores, según palabra del SEÑOR por mano de Moisés.

And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh returned, departing from the sons of Israel out of Shiloh, which is in the land of Canaan, to go unto the country of Gilead, to the land of their possession, of which they were the possessors, according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.

10 ¶ Y llegando a los términos del Jordán, que está en la tierra de Canaán, los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, edificaron allí un altar junto al Jordán, un altar de grande apariencia.

¶ And when they came unto the borders of the Jordan, which is in the land of Canaan, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh built an altar there next to the Jordan, a great altar to look upon.

11 Y los hijos de Israel oyeron decir como los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, habían edificado un altar delante de la tierra de Canaán, en los términos del Jordán, al paso de los hijos de Israel.

And the sons of Israel heard it said, Behold, the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh have built an altar over against the land of Canaan, in the borders of the Jordan, at the passage of the sons of Israel.

12 L o cual cuando los hijos de Israel oyeron, se juntó toda la congregación de los hijos de Israel en Silo, para subir a pelear contra ellos.

And when the sons of Israel heard of it, the whole congregation of the sons of Israel gathered themselves together at Shiloh, to go up to war against them.

13 Y enviaron los hijos de Israel a los hijos de Rubén y a los hijos de Gad y a la media tribu de Manasés en la tierra de Galaad, a Finees hijo de Eleazar sacerdote,

And the sons of Israel sent unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh into the land of Gilead, Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest,

14 y a diez príncipes con él; un príncipe de cada casa paterna de todas las tribus de Israel, cada uno de los cuales era cabeza de familia de sus padres entre los millares de Israel.

and with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was the head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.

15 L os cuales vinieron a los hijos de Rubén y a los hijos de Gad, y a la media tribu de Manasés, en la tierra de Galaad; y les hablaron, diciendo:

And they came unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the half tribe of Manasseh unto the land of Gilead, and they spoke with them, saying,

16 T oda la congregación del SEÑOR dice así: ¿Qué transgresión es ésta con que prevaricáis contra el Dios de Israel, volviéndoos hoy de seguir al SEÑOR, edificándoos altar para ser hoy rebeldes contra el SEÑOR?

Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD in that ye have built an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?

17 ¿ Nos ha sido poco la iniquidad de Peor, de la que no estamos aún limpios hasta este día, por la cual fue la mortandad en la congregación del SEÑOR?

Is the iniquity of Peor too little for us, from which we are not cleansed until this day, for which there was a plague in the congregation of the LORD?

18 Y vosotros os volvéis hoy de seguir al SEÑOR; mas será que vosotros os rebelaréis hoy contra el SEÑOR, y mañana se airará él contra toda la congregación de Israel.

And ye turn away this day from following the LORD; and it will be, seeing ye rebel today against the LORD, that tomorrow he will be angry with the whole congregation of Israel.

19 Q ue si os parece que la tierra de vuestra posesión es inmunda, pasaos a la tierra de la posesión del SEÑOR, en la cual está el tabernáculo del SEÑOR, y tomad posesión entre nosotros; pero no os rebeléis contra el SEÑOR, ni os rebeléis contra nosotros, edificándoos altar a más del altar del SEÑOR nuestro Dios.

If the land of your possession seems unto you to be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, in which the LORD’s tabernacle dwells and take possession among us; but do not rebel against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building yourselves an altar in addition to the altar of the LORD our God.

20 ¿ Por ventura no cometió Acán, hijo de Zera, prevaricación en el anatema, y vino ira sobre toda la congregación de Israel? Y aquel hombre no pereció solo en su iniquidad.

Peradventure did Achan, the son of Zerah, not commit a trespass in the anathema, and wrath fell on all the congregation of Israel? And that man did not perish alone in his iniquity.

21 ¶ Entonces los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad, y la media tribu de Manasés, respondieron y dijeron a los principales de los millares de Israel:

¶ Then the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the half tribe of Manasseh answered and said unto the heads of the thousands of Israel,

22 E l Dios de los dioses, El SEÑOR, el Dios de los dioses, El SEÑOR, él sabe, y que Israel también sepa; si por rebelión o por prevaricación contra el SEÑOR (no nos salves hoy),

The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knows and let Israel also know; if it is in rebellion, or if in transgression against the LORD (save us not this day)

23 q ue nos hemos edificado altar para tornarnos de en pos del SEÑOR, o para sacrificar holocausto o presente, o para hacer sobre él sacrificios pacíficos, el mismo SEÑOR nos lo demande;

that we have built us an altar to turn from following the LORD or if to offer thereon burnt offering or present or if to offer peace offerings thereon, let the LORD himself require it;

24 a simismo, si no lo hicimos por temor de esto, diciendo: Por ventura mañana vuestros hijos dirán a nuestros hijos: ¿Qué tenéis vosotros con el SEÑOR Dios de Israel?

likewise, if we have not rather done it for fear of this thing, saying, Peradventure tomorrow your children shall speak unto our children, saying, What have ye to do with the LORD God of Israel?

25 E l SEÑOR ha puesto por término el Jordán entre nosotros y vosotros, oh hijos de Rubén e hijos de Gad; no tenéis vosotros parte con el SEÑOR; y así vuestros hijos harán que nuestros hijos no teman al SEÑOR.

The LORD has put the Jordan for a border between us and you, O sons of Reuben and sons of Gad; ye have no part in the LORD, so shall your sons make our sons cease from fearing the LORD.

26 P or esto dijimos: Hagamos ahora por edificarnos un altar, no para holocausto ni para sacrificio,

Therefore we said, Let us now work to build us an altar, not for burnt offering nor for sacrifice,

27 s ino para que sea un testimonio entre nosotros y vosotros, y entre los que vendrán después de nosotros, para que hagan el servicio del SEÑOR delante de él con nuestros holocaustos, con nuestros sacrificios, y con nuestros pacíficos; y no digan mañana vuestros hijos a los nuestros: Vosotros no tenéis parte con el SEÑOR.

but that it may be a witness between us and you and our generations after us, to do the service of the LORD before him with our burnt offerings and with our sacrifices and with our peace offerings that your children may not say to our children in time to come, Ye have no part in the LORD.

28 N osotros, pues, dijimos: Si aconteciere que tal digan a nosotros, o a nuestras generaciones en lo por venir, entonces responderemos: Mirad el símil del altar del SEÑOR, el cual hicieron nuestros padres, no para holocaustos o sacrificios, sino para que fuera testimonio entre nosotros y vosotros.

Therefore we said, that it shall be, if they should so say to us or to our generations in time to come, that we may reply, Behold the pattern of the altar of the LORD, which our fathers made, not for burnt offerings nor for sacrifices, but it is a witness between us and you.

29 N unca tal acontezca que nos rebelemos contra el SEÑOR, o que nos apartemos hoy de seguir al SEÑOR, edificando altar para holocaustos, para presente, o para sacrificio, a más del altar del SEÑOR nuestro Dios que está delante de su Tabernáculo.

Let it never happen that we should rebel against the LORD or that we should turn today from following the LORD, to build an altar for burnt offerings, for presents, or for sacrifices, in addition to the altar of the LORD our God that is before his tabernacle.

30 ¶ Y oyendo Finees el sacerdote y los príncipes de la congregación, y las cabezas de los millares de Israel que con él estaban, las palabras que hablaron los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad y los hijos de Manasés, estuvieron contentos de ello.

¶ And when Phinehas the priest and the princes of the congregation and heads of the thousands of Israel who were with him, heard the words that the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad and the sons of Manasseh spoke, it pleased them.

31 Y dijo Finees hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, a los hijos de Rubén, a los hijos de Gad, y a los hijos de Manasés: Hoy hemos entendido que el SEÑOR está entre nosotros, pues que no habéis intentado esta traición contra el SEÑOR. Ahora habéis librado a los hijos de Israel de la ira del SEÑOR.

And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, said unto the sons of Reuben and to the sons of Gad and to the sons of Manasseh, This day we perceive that the LORD is among us because ye have not intended to trespass against the LORD. Now ye have delivered the sons of Israel from the wrath of the LORD.

32 Y Finees hijo del sacerdote Eleazar, y los príncipes, se volvieron de los hijos de Rubén, y de los hijos de Gad, de la tierra de Galaad a la tierra de Canaán, a los hijos de Israel; a los cuales dieron la respuesta.

And Phinehas, the son of Eleazar the priest, and the princes, returned from the sons of Reuben and from the sons of Gad, out of the land of Gilead, unto the land of Canaan, to the sons of Israel and brought them word again.

33 Y el negocio agradó a los hijos de Israel, y bendijeron a Dios los hijos de Israel; y no hablaron más de subir contra ellos en guerra, para destruir la tierra en que habitaban los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad.

And the thing pleased the sons of Israel; and the sons of Israel blessed God and did not speak again of going up against them in battle to destroy the land in which the sons of Reuben and Gad dwelt.

34 Y los hijos de Rubén y los hijos de Gad pusieron por nombre al altar Ed; porque es testimonio entre nosotros que el SEÑOR es Dios.

And the sons of Reuben and the sons of Gad called the altar Ed; for it is a witness between us that the LORD is God.
