1 Y durmió Josafat con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en la ciudad de David. Y reinó en su lugar Joram su hijo.

¶ Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram, his son, reigned in his stead.

2 E ste tuvo hermanos, hijos de Josafat, a Azarías, Jehiel, Zacarías, Azarías, Micael, y Sefatías. Todos éstos fueron hijos de Josafat rey de Israel.

And he had brethren, sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, Jehiel, Zechariah, Azariah, Michael, and Shephatiah; all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat, king of Israel.

3 Y su padre les había dado muchos dones de oro y de plata, y cosas preciosas, y ciudades fuertes en Judá; mas había dado el reino a Joram, porque él era el primogénito.

And their father had given them great gifts of silver and of gold and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah, but he gave the kingdom to Jehoram because he was the firstborn.

4 Y se levantó Joram contra el reino de su padre; y se hizo fuerte, y mató a espada a todos sus hermanos, y asimismo a algunos de los príncipes de Israel.

Now Jehoram rose up against the kingdom of his father, and he strengthened himself and slew all his brethren with the sword and likewise some of the princes of Israel.

5 C uando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó ocho años en Jerusalén.

Jehoram was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.

6 Y anduvo en el camino de los reyes de Israel, como hizo la casa de Acab; porque tenía por mujer a la hija de Acab, e hizo lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR.

And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab, for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife; and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the LORD.

7 M as el SEÑOR no quiso destruir la casa de David, por la alianza que con David había hecho, y porque le había dicho que le daría lámpara a él y a sus hijos perpetuamente.

However, the LORD would not destroy the house of David because of the covenant that he had made with David and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.

8 E n los días de éste se rebeló Edom, para no estar bajo el poder de Judá, y pusieron rey sobre sí.

In his days Edom rebelled from under the dominion of Judah and made themselves a king.

9 E ntonces pasó Joram con sus príncipes, y consigo todos sus carros; y se levantó de noche, e hirió a Edom que le habían cercado, y a todos los príncipes de sus carros.

Then Jehoram went forth with his princes and all his chariots with him, and he rose up by night and smote Edom who had compassed him in and all the captains of the chariots.

10 C on todo eso Edom quedó rebelado, sin estar bajo la mano de Judá hasta hoy. También se rebeló en el mismo tiempo Libna para no estar bajo su mano; por cuanto él había dejado al SEÑOR el Dios de sus padres.

With all this Edom remained in rebellion, out from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Libnah also rebelled at the same time to not be under his hand because he had forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.

11 A demás de esto hizo lugares altos en los montes de Judá, e hizo que los moradores de Jerusalén fornicaran, y a ello impelió a Judá.

Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication and compelled Judah unto this.

12 ¶ Y le llegaron letras del profeta Elías, que decían así: El SEÑOR, el Dios de David tu padre, ha dicho así: Por cuanto no has andado en los caminos de Josafat tu padre, ni en los caminos de Asa, rey de Judá,

¶ And a writing came to him from Elijah, the prophet, that said this: Thus hath the LORD, the God of David, thy father, said, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father nor in the ways of Asa, king of Judah,

13 a ntes has andado en el camino de los reyes de Israel, y has hecho que fornicara Judá, y los moradores de Jerusalén, como fornicó la casa de Acab; y además has dado muerte a tus hermanos, a la casa de tu padre, los cuales eran mejores que tú,

but hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fornicate, like unto the fornication of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, who were better than thyself,

14 h e aquí el SEÑOR herirá tu pueblo de una gran plaga, a tus hijos a tus mujeres, y a toda tu hacienda;

behold, the LORD shall smite thy people with a great plague, and thy sons and thy wives and all thy goods;

15 y a ti con muchas enfermedades, con enfermedad de tus entrañas, hasta que las entrañas se te salgan a causa de la enfermedad de cada día.

and thou shalt have great sickness, with disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.

16 ¶ Entonces despertó el SEÑOR contra Joram el espíritu de los filisteos, y de los árabes que estaban junto a los etíopes;

Then the LORD stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians;

17 y subieron contra Judá, e invadieron la tierra, y saquearon toda la hacienda que hallaron en la casa del rey, a sus hijos, y a sus mujeres; de modo que no le quedó hijo, sino Joacaz el menor de sus hijos.

and they came up against Judah and invaded the land and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also and his wives so that none of his sons remained except Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.

18 D espués de todo esto el SEÑOR lo hirió en las entrañas con una enfermedad incurable.

And after all this the LORD smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.

19 Y aconteció que, pasando un día tras otro, al fin, al cabo de dos años, las entrañas se le salieron por la enfermedad, muriendo así de enfermedad muy penosa. Y no le hizo quema su pueblo, como las había hecho a sus padres.

And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness; so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like they had done for his fathers.

20 C uando comenzó a reinar era de treinta y dos años, y reinó en Jerusalén ocho años; y se fue sin ser deseado. Y lo sepultaron en la ciudad de David, mas no en los sepulcros de los reyes.

He was thirty-two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years and departed without being desired. And they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
