1 Y orando Esdras y confesando, llorando y postrándose delante de la casa de Dios, se juntó a él una muy grande congregación de Israel, hombres, mujeres y niños; y lloraba el pueblo con gran llanto.

¶ Now as Ezra prayed and confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children; and the people wept very sore.

2 E ntonces respondió Secanías hijo de Jehiel, de los hijos de Elam, y dijo a Esdras: Nos hemos rebelado contra nuestro Dios, pues tomamos mujeres extranjeras de los pueblos de la tierra; mas hay aún esperanza para Israel sobre esto.

Then Shechaniah, the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, answered and said unto Ezra, We have rebelled against our God and have taken strange women of the peoples of the land, but there is yet hope for Israel concerning this thing.

3 P or tanto ahora hagamos pacto con nuestro Dios, que echaremos todas las mujeres y los nacidos de ellas, según el consejo del Señor, y de los que temen el mandamiento de nuestro Dios; y hágase conforme a la ley.

Now, therefore, let us make a covenant with our God to send away all the women and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of the Lord and of those that fear the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.

4 L evántate, porque a ti toca el negocio, y nosotros estaremos contigo; esfuérzate, y ponlo por obra.

Arise; for this matter belongs unto thee; we also will be with thee: be of good courage, and do it.

5 E ntonces se levantó Esdras, y juramentó a los príncipes de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, y a todo Israel, que harían conforme a esto; y ellos juraron.

Then Ezra arose and made the princes of the priests, the Levites, and all Israel, swear that they should do according to this word. And they swore.

6 S e levantó luego Esdras de delante de la Casa de Dios, y se fue a la cámara de Johanán hijo de Eliasib; e ido allá, no comió pan ni bebió agua, porque se entristeció sobre la prevaricación de los de la transmigración.

¶ Then Ezra rose up from before the house of God and went into the chamber of Johanan, the son of Eliashib; and when he came there, he ate no bread, nor drank water; for he mourned because of the transgression of those that had been carried away.

7 E hicieron pasar pregón por Judá y por Jerusalén a todos los hijos de la transmigración, que se juntaran en Jerusalén;

And they made proclamation throughout Judah and Jerusalem unto all the sons of the captivity, that they should gather themselves together unto Jerusalem

8 y que el que no viniera dentro de tres días, conforme al acuerdo de los príncipes y de los ancianos, perdiera toda su hacienda, y él fuera apartado de la congregación de los de la transmigración.

and that whoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and of the elders, all his substance should be forfeited and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away.

9 A sí fueron reunidos todos los varones de Judá y de Benjamín en Jerusalén dentro de tres días, a los veinte del mes, el cual era el mes noveno; y se sentó todo el pueblo en la plaza de la Casa de Dios, temblando con motivo de aquel negocio, y a causa de las lluvias.

Thus were all the men of Judah and Benjamin gathered together unto Jerusalem within three days. It was the ninth month, on the twentieth of the month; and all the people sat in the plaza of the house of God, trembling because of this matter and because of the rains.

10 Y se levantó Esdras el sacerdote, y les dijo: Vosotros habéis prevaricado, por cuanto tomasteis mujeres extrañas, añadiendo así sobre la culpa de Israel.

And Ezra, the priest, stood up, and said unto them, Ye have transgressed because ye have taken strange women, thus increasing the guiltiness of Israel.

11 A hora pues, dad confesión al SEÑOR Dios de vuestros padres, y haced su voluntad, y apartaos de los pueblos de las tierras, y de las mujeres extranjeras.

Now, therefore, make confession unto the LORD God of your fathers and do his will; and separate yourselves from the peoples of the lands and from the strange women.

12 Y respondió toda la congregación, y dijeron en alta voz: Así se haga conforme a tu palabra.

Then all the congregation answered and said with a loud voice, Let it be done according to thy word.

13 M as el pueblo es mucho, y el tiempo lluvioso, y no hay fuerza para estar en la calle; ni la obra es de un día ni de dos, porque somos muchos los que hemos prevaricado en este negocio.

But the people are many, and it is a time of much rain, and there is no strength to stand in the street; neither is this a work of one day or two; for we are many that have transgressed in this thing.

14 E stén ahora nuestros príncipes, los de toda la congregación; y todos aquellos que en nuestras ciudades hubieren tomado mujeres extranjeras, vengan a tiempos aplazados, y con ellos los ancianos de cada ciudad, y los jueces de ellas, hasta que apartemos de nosotros el furor de la ira de nuestro Dios sobre esto.

Let our rulers of all the congregation now stand, and let all those who have taken strange women in our cities come at appointed times, and with them the elders of each city and the judges thereof, until the fierce wrath of our God for this matter is turned from us.

15 F ueron pues puestos sobre este negocio Jonatán hijo de Asael, y Jahazías hijo de Ticva; y Mesulam y Sabetai, levitas, les ayudaron.

¶ Jonathan, the son of Asahel, and Jahaziah, the son of Tikvah, were placed over this matter; and Meshullam and Shabbethai, the Levites, helped them.

16 E hicieron así los hijos de la transmigración. Y fueron apartados Esdras y los varones cabezas de los padres en la casa de sus padres, y todos ellos por sus nombres; y se sentaron el primer día del mes décimo para inquirir sobre el negocio.

And the sons of the captivity did so. And Ezra, the priest, and the men who were the heads of the fathers in the house of their fathers were separated, all of them by their names, and sat down in the first day of the tenth month to inquire into the matter.

17 Y concluyeron, con todos aquellos que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras, el primer día del mes primero.

And they finished, with all the men that had taken strange women by the first day of the first month.

18 Y de los hijos de los sacerdotes que habían tomado mujeres extranjeras, fueron hallados éstos: De los hijos de Jesúa hijo de Josadac, y de sus hermanos: Maasías, Eliezer, Jarib, y Gedalías;

And among the sons of the priests that had taken strange women these were found: Of the sons of Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and of his brethren: Maaseiah and Eliezer, and Jarib and Gedaliah.

19 y dieron su mano en promesa de echar sus mujeres, y ofrecieron como culpados un carnero de los rebaños por su culpa.

And they gave their hands that they would send away their women; and being guilty, they offered a ram of the flock for their guiltiness.

20 Y de los hijos de Imer: Hanani y Zebadías.

And of the sons of Immer; Hanani and Zebadiah.

21 Y de los hijos de Harim: Maasías, Elías, Semaías, Jehiel, y Uzías.

And of the sons of Harim; Maaseiah, Elijah, Shemaiah, Jehiel, and Uzziah.

22 Y de los hijos de Pasur: Elioenai, Maasías, Ismael, Natanael, Jozabad, y Elasa.

And of the sons of Pashur; Elioenai, Maaseiah, Ishmael, Nethaneel, Jozabad, and Elasah.

23 Y de los hijos de los levitas: Jozabad, y Simei, Kelaía (éste es Kelita), Petaías, Judá y Eliezer.

And of the sons of the Levites; Jozabad, Shimei, Kelaiah, (the same is Kelita,)Pethahiah, Judah, and Eliezer.

24 Y de los cantores, Eliasib; y de los porteros: Salum, Telem, y Uri.

And of the singers; Eliashib; and of the porters; Shallum, Telem, and Uri.

25 A simismo de Israel, de los hijos de Paros: Ramía, Jezías, Malquías, Mijamín, Eleazar, Malquías, y Benaía.

Likewise of Israel: of the sons of Parosh; Ramiah, Jeziah, Malchiah, Miamin, Eleazar, Malchijah, and Benaiah.

26 Y de los hijos de Elam: Matanías, Zacarías, Jehiel, Abdi, Jerimot, y Elías.

And of the sons of Elam; Mattaniah, Zechariah, Jehiel, Abdi, Jeremoth, and Eliah.

27 Y de los hijos de Zatu: Elioenai, Eliasib, Matanías, Jerimot, Zabad, y Aziza.

And of the sons of Zattu; Elioenai, Eliashib, Mattaniah, Jeremoth, Zabad, and Aziza.

28 Y de los hijos de Bebai: Johanán, Hananías, Zabai, y Atlai.

And of the sons of Bebai; Jehohanan, Hananiah, Zabbai, and Athlai.

29 Y de los hijos de Bani: Mesulam, Maluc, Adaía, Jasub, Seal, y Ramot.

And of the sons of Bani; Meshullam, Malluch, Adaiah, Jashub, Sheal, and Ramoth.

30 Y de los hijos de Pahat-moab: Adna, Quelal, Benaía, Maasías, Matanías, Bezaleel, Binúi y Manasés.

And of the sons of Pahath-moab; Adna, Chelal, Benaiah, Maaseiah, Mattaniah, Bezaleel, Binnui, and Manasseh.

31 Y de los hijos de Harim: Eliezer, Isías, Malquías, Semaías, Simeón,

And of the sons of Harim; Eliezer, Ishijah, Malchiah, Shemaiah, Shimeon,

32 B enjamín, Maluc, y Semarías.

Benjamin, Malluch, and Shemariah.

33 D e los hijos de Hasum: Matenai, Matata, Zabad, Elifelet, Jeremai, Manasés, y Simei.

Of the sons of Hashum; Mattenai, Mattathah, Zabad, Eliphelet, Jeremai, Manasseh, and Shimei.

34 D e los hijos de Bani: Madai, Amram, Uel,

Of the sons of Bani; Maadai, Amram, and Uel,

35 B enaía, Bedías, Quelúhi,

Benaiah, Bedeiah, Chelluh,

36 V anías, Meremot, Eliasib,

Vaniah, Meremoth, Eliashib,

37 M atanías, Matenai, Jaasai,

Mattaniah, Mattenai, and Jaasau,

38 B ani, Binúi, Simei,

Bani, Binnui, Shimei,

Shallum, Amariah, and Joseph.

43 Y de los hijos de Nebo: Jeiel, Matatías, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, Joel y Benaía.

And of the sons of Nebo; Jeiel, Mattithiah, Zabad, Zebina, Jadau, Joel, and Benaiah.

44 T odos éstos habían tomado mujeres extranjeras; y había mujeres de ellos que habían dado a luz hijos.

All these had taken strange women, and there were women of theirs who had given birth to sons.
