1 ¶ Y había un varón en Cesarea llamado Cornelio, centurión de la compañía que se llamaba la Italiana,

¶ There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of the company called the Italian,

2 p ío y temeroso de Dios con toda su casa, y que hacía muchas limosnas al pueblo, y oraba a Dios siempre.

a devout man and one that feared God with all his house, who gave many alms to the people and prayed to God always.

3 E ste vio en visión manifiestamente, como a la hora novena del día, que un ángel de Dios entraba a él, y le decía: Cornelio.

He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him and saying unto him, Cornelius.

4 Y él, puestos en él los ojos, espantado, dijo: ¿Qué es, Señor? Y le dijo: Tus oraciones y tus limosnas han sido estimadas en la presencia de Dios.

And when he looked on him, he was afraid and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.

5 E nvía pues ahora hombres a Jope, y haz venir a un Simón, que tiene por sobrenombre Pedro.

And now send men to Joppa and call for one Simon, whose surname is Peter;

6 E ste posa en casa de un Simón, curtidor, que tiene su casa junto al mar; él te dirá lo que te conviene hacer.

he lodges with one Simon a tanner, whose house is by the sea side; he shall tell thee what it behooves thee to do.

7 E ido el ángel que hablaba con Cornelio, llamó a dos de sus criados, y un soldado temeroso del Señor de los que le asistían;

And when the angel who spoke unto Cornelius was departed, he called two of his household servants and a devout soldier of those that waited on him continually;

8 a los cuales, después de habérselo contado todo, los envió a Jope.

and when he had declared all these things unto them, he sent them to Joppa.

9 ¶ Y al día siguiente, yendo ellos su camino, y llegando cerca de la ciudad, Pedro subió a la azotea a orar, cerca de la hora sexta;

¶ On the morrow, as they went on their journey and drew near unto the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray about the sixth hour;

10 y aconteció que le vino una gran hambre, y quiso comer; pero mientras disponían, cayó sobre él un rapto de entendimiento;

and he became very hungry and would have eaten; but while they made ready, he fell into a rapture of understanding

11 y vio el cielo abierto, y que descendía un vaso, como un gran lienzo, que atado de los cuatro cabos era bajado del cielo a la tierra;

and saw the heaven opened and a certain vessel descending unto him, as it had been a great sheet knit at the four corners and let down to the earth,

12 E n el cual había de todos los animales cuadrúpedos de la tierra, y bestias fieras, y reptiles, y aves del cielo.

in which were all manner of fourfooted beasts of the earth and wild beasts and reptiles and fowls of the air.

13 Y le vino una voz: Levántate, Pedro, mata y come.

And there came a voice to him, Rise, Peter, kill and eat.

14 E ntonces Pedro dijo: Señor, no; porque ninguna cosa común e inmunda he comido jamás.

But Peter said, Not so, Lord; for I have never eaten any thing that is common or unclean.

15 Y volvió la voz hacia él la segunda vez: Lo que Dios limpió, no lo ensucies.

And the voice spoke unto him again the second time, That which God has cleansed, do not call common.

16 Y esto fue hecho por tres veces; y el vaso volvió a ser recogido en el cielo.

This was done three times, and the vessel was received up again into heaven.

17 Y estando Pedro dudando dentro de sí qué sería la visión que había visto, he aquí, los hombres que habían sido enviados por Cornelio, que, preguntando por la casa de Simón, llegaron a la puerta.

Now while Peter doubted in himself what this vision which he had seen should mean, behold, the men who were sent from Cornelius had made enquiry for Simon’s house and stood before the gate

18 Y llamando, preguntaron si un Simón que tenía por sobrenombre Pedro, posaba allí.

and called and asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, were lodged there.

19 ¶ Y estando Pedro pensando en la visión, le dijo el Espíritu Santo: He aquí, tres hombres te buscan.

¶ While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee.

20 L evántate, pues, y desciende, y no dudes de ir con ellos; porque yo los he enviado.

Arise therefore and get thee down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.

21 E ntonces Pedro, descendiendo a los hombres que eran enviados por Cornelio, dijo: He aquí, yo soy el que buscáis; ¿cuál es la causa por la que habéis venido?

Then Peter went down to the men who were sent unto him from Cornelius and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek; what is the cause for which ye are come?

22 Y ellos dijeron: Cornelio, el centurión, varón justo y temeroso de Dios, y que tiene testimonio de toda la nación de los judíos, ha recibido respuesta por un santo ángel, de hacerte venir a su casa, y oír de ti palabras.

And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man and one that fears God and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by a holy angel to send for thee into his house and to hear words of thee.

23 E ntonces metiéndolos dentro, los hospedó. Y al día siguiente, levantándose, se fue con ellos; y le acompañaron algunos de los hermanos de Jope.

Then he called them in and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

24 Y al otro día entraron en Cesarea. Y Cornelio los estaba esperando, habiendo llamado a sus parientes y los amigos más familiares.

And the next day they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius waited for them and had called together his kinsmen and near friends.

25 Y cuando Pedro entró, salió Cornelio a recibirle; y derribándose a sus pies, adoró.

And as Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshipped him.

26 Y Pedro le levantó, diciendo: Levántate; yo mismo también soy hombre.

But Peter took him up, saying, Stand up; I myself also am a man.

27 Y hablando con él, entró, y halló a muchos que se habían juntado.

And as he talked with him, he went in and found many that were come together.

28 Y les dijo: Vosotros sabéis que es abominable a un varón judío juntarse o llegarse a extranjero; mas me ha mostrado Dios que a ningún hombre llame común o inmundo;

And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an abominable thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company or come unto one of another nation; but God has showed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.

29 p or lo cual, llamado, he venido sin dudar. Así que pregunto: ¿por qué causa me habéis hecho venir?

Therefore I came unto you without doubting, as soon as I was sent for; I ask therefore for what intent ye have sent for me?

30 E ntonces Cornelio dijo: Hace cuatro días hasta esta hora yo estaba en ayuno; y a la hora novena mientras oraba en mi casa, he aquí un varón se puso delante de mí en vestido resplandeciente.

And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and, behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing

31 Y dijo: Cornelio, tu oración es oída, y tus limosnas han venido en memoria en la presencia de Dios.

and said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

32 E nvía pues a Jope, y haz venir a un Simón, que tiene por sobrenombre Pedro; éste posa en casa de Simón, un curtidor, junto al mar; (el cual venido, te hablará).

Send therefore to Joppa, and call here Simon, whose surname is Peter; he is lodged in the house of one Simon a tanner by the sea side, who, when he comes, shall speak unto thee.

33 A sí que, luego envié a ti; y tú has hecho bien en venir. Ahora pues, todos nosotros estamos aquí en la presencia de Dios, para oír todo lo que Dios te ha mandado.

Immediately therefore I sent to thee, and thou hast done well to come. Now therefore we are all here present before God to hear all things that are commanded thee of God.

34 ¶ Entonces Pedro, abriendo su boca, dijo: En verdad hallo que Dios no hace acepción de personas;

¶ Then Peter opened his mouth and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons;

35 s ino que en cualquier nación el que le teme y obra justicia, es acepto a él.

but in every nation he that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.

36 D ios envió Palabra a los hijos de Israel, anunciando el evangelio por Jesús, el Cristo; (éste es el Señor de todos).

The word which God sent unto the sons of Israel, preaching the gospel: peace by Jesus Christ (he is Lord of all),

37 V osotros sabéis de la palabra que ha sido hecha por toda Judea; que comenzando desde Galilea, después del bautismo que Juan predicó;

that word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached,

38 a Jesús de Nazaret; cómo le ungió Dios del Espíritu Santo y de potencia; que anduvo haciendo bienes, y sanando a todos los oprimidos del diablo; porque Dios era con él.

how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all that were oppressed of the devil, for God was with him.

39 Y nosotros somos testigos de todas las cosas que hizo en la tierra de Judea, y en Jerusalén; al cual mataron colgándole en un madero.

And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of Judea and in Jerusalem, whom they slew hanging him on a tree.

40 A éste Dios lo levantó al tercer día, y dio que fuera hecho manifiesto,

This same one God raised up the third day and showed him openly,

41 n o a todo el pueblo, sino a testigos que Dios antes había ordenado, es a saber, a nosotros que comimos y bebimos juntamente con él, después que resucitó de los muertos.

not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who ate and drank with him after he rose from the dead.

42 Y nos mandó que predicásemos al pueblo, y testificásemos que él es el que Dios ha puesto por Juez de vivos y muertos.

And he commanded us to preach unto the people and to testify that it is he who is ordained of God to be the Judge of living and dead.

43 A éste dan testimonio todos los profetas, de que todos los que en él creyeren, recibirán perdón de pecados por su Nombre.

Unto him all the prophets give witness, that whosoever believes in him shall receive remission of sins through his name.

44 ¶ Estando aún hablando Pedro estas palabras, el Espíritu Santo cayó sobre todos los que oían la palabra.

¶ While Peter yet spoke these words, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.

45 Y se espantaron los fieles que eran de la circuncisión, que habían venido con Pedro, de que también sobre los gentiles se derramara el don del Espíritu Santo.

And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, that also on the Gentiles the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out.

46 P orque los oían que hablaban en lenguas, y que magnificaban a Dios.

For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,

47 E ntonces Pedro respondió: ¿Puede alguno impedir el agua, para que no sean bautizados éstos que han recibido el Espíritu Santo también como nosotros?

Can anyone forbid water that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Spirit as well as we?

48 Y les mandó bautizar en el Nombre del Señor Jesús. Y le rogaron que se quedara por algunos días.

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. Then they begged him to tarry certain days.
