1 P ero el rey Salomón amó a muchas mujeres extranjeras junto con la hija de Faraón; a las de Moab, a las de Amón, a las de Idumea, a las de Sidón, y a las heteas;

¶ But King Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites,

2 d e los gentiles de las cuales el SEÑOR había dicho a los hijos de Israel: No entraréis a ellas, ni ellas entrarán a vosotros; porque ciertamente ellas harán inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A éstas pues se juntó Salomón con amor.

of the Gentiles concerning which the LORD had said unto the sons of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you, for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods. Solomon clave unto these in love.

3 Y tuvo setecientas mujeres princesas, y trescientas concubinas; y sus mujeres hicieron inclinar su corazón.

And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines; and his wives turned away his heart.

4 Y ya que Salomón era viejo, sus mujeres inclinaron su corazón tras dioses ajenos; y su corazón no era perfecto con el SEÑOR su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David.

For it came to pass when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David, his father.

5 P orque Salomón siguió a Astoret, diosa de los sidonios, y a Milcom, abominación de los amonitas.

For Solomon went after Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom, the abomination of the Ammonites.

6 E hizo Salomón lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, y no siguió cumplidamente tras el SEÑOR como David su padre.

And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.

7 E ntonces edificó Salomón un lugar alto a Quemos, abominación de Moab, en el monte que está enfrente de Jerusalén; y a Moloc, abominación de los hijos de Amón.

Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the mount that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the sons of Ammon.

8 Y así hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, las cuales quemaban perfumes, y sacrificaban a sus dioses.

And he did likewise for all his strange wives, who burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.

9 Y se enojó el SEÑOR contra Salomón, por cuanto estaba su corazón desviado del SEÑOR Dios de Israel, que se le había aparecido dos veces,

¶ And the LORD became angry with Solomon because his heart was turned aside from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared unto him twice,

10 y le había mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiera dioses ajenos; mas él no guardó lo que le mandó el SEÑOR.

and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep that which the LORD had commanded him.

11 Y dijo el SEÑOR a Salomón: Por cuanto ha habido esto en ti, y no has guardado mi pacto y mis estatutos que yo te mandé, romperé el reino de ti, y lo entregaré a tu siervo.

Therefore the LORD said unto Solomon, Because this has been in thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee and will give it to thy slave.

12 P ero no lo haré en tus días, por amor de David tu padre; lo romperé de la mano de tu hijo.

But I will not do it in thy days for David, thy father’s sake, but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.

13 S in embargo no romperé todo el reino, sino que daré una tribu a tu hijo, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalén que yo he elegido.

However, I will not rend away all the kingdom, but will give one tribe to thy son for David, my slave’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.

14 Y el SEÑOR suscitó un adversario a Salomón, a Adad, idumeo, de la simiente real, el cual estaba en Edom.

¶ And the LORD stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad, the Edomite; he was of the king’s seed in Edom.

15 P orque cuando David estaba en Edom, y subió Joab el general del ejército a enterrar los muertos, y mató a todos los varones de Edom

For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab, the captain of the host, had gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom

16 ( porque seis meses habitó allí Joab, y todo Israel, hasta que hubo acabado a todo el sexo masculino en Edom);

(for Joab dwelt there six months with all Israel until he had cut off every male in Edom),

17 e ntonces huyó Adad, y con él algunos varones idumeos de los siervos de su padre, y se fue a Egipto; era entonces Adad muchacho pequeño.

that Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s slaves with him, to go into Egypt, Hadad being yet a little child.

18 Y se levantaron de Madián, y vinieron a Parán; y tomando consigo varones de Parán, vinieron a Egipto, a Faraón rey de Egipto, el cual le dio casa, y le mandó dar alimentos, y también le dio tierra.

And they arose out of Midian and came to Paran; and taking men with them out of Paran, they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh, king of Egypt, who gave him a house and appointed him food and gave him land.

19 Y halló Adad grande gracia delante de Faraón, el cual le dio por mujer a la hermana de su esposa, a la hermana de la reina Tahpenes.

And Hadad found great grace in the sight of Pharaoh so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Queen Tahpenes.

20 Y la hermana de Tahpenes le dio a luz a su hijo Genubat, al cual destetó Tahpenes dentro de la casa del Faraón; y estaba Genubat en la casa del Faraón entre los hijos de Faraón.

And the sister of Tahpenes bore him Genubath, his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s household among the sons of Pharaoh.

21 Y oyendo Adad en Egipto que David había dormido con sus padres, y que había muerto Joab general del ejército, Adad dijo a Faraón: Déjame ir a mi tierra.

And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers and that Joab, the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart that I may go to my own land.

22 Y le respondió Faraón: ¿Por qué? ¿Qué te falta conmigo, que procuras irte a tu tierra? Y él respondió: Nada; con todo, te ruego que me dejes ir.

Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me that, behold, thou seekest to go to thy own land? And he answered, Nothing; however, let me go anyway.

23 L e despertó también Dios por adversario a Rezón, hijo de Eliada, el cual había huido de su amo Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba.

And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon, the son of Eliadah, who fled from his lord Hadadezer, king of Zobah.

24 Y había juntado gente contra él, y se había hecho capitán de una compañía, cuando David deshizo a los de Soba. Después se fueron a Damasco, y habitaron allí y le hicieron rey en Damasco.

And he gathered men unto him and became captain over a band, when David slew those of Zobah; and they went to Damascus and dwelt there, and they made him king in Damascus.

25 Y fue adversario a Israel todos los días de Salomón; y fue otro mal con el de Adad, porque aborreció a Israel, y reinó sobre Siria.

And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the evil that Hadad did, and he abhorred Israel and reigned over Syria.

26 A simismo Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, efrateo de Sereda, siervo de Salomón (su madre se llamaba Zerúa, mujer viuda), alzó su mano contra el rey.

¶ Likewise Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s slave, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, lifted up his hand against the king.

27 ¶ Y la causa porque éste alzó mano contra el rey, fue ésta: Salomón edificando a Milo, cerró el portillo de la ciudad de David su padre.

And this was why he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon in building Millo, closed the breach of the city of David, his father.

28 Y el varón Jeroboam era valiente y esforzado; y viendo Salomón al joven que era hombre activo, le encomendó todo el cargo de la casa de José.

And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour, and Solomon, seeing that the young man was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.

29 A conteció, pues, en aquel tiempo, que saliendo Jeroboam de Jerusalén, le encontró en el camino el profeta Ahías, el silonita; y él estaba cubierto con una capa nueva; y estaban ellos dos solos en el campo.

And it came to pass at that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah, the Shilonite, found him in the way; and he was covered with a new garment; and the two were alone in the field.

30 Y trabando Ahías de la capa nueva que tenía sobre sí, la rompió en doce pedazos,

And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him and rent it in twelve pieces;

31 y dijo a Jeroboam: Toma para ti los diez pedazos; porque así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo rompo el reino de la mano de Salomón, y a ti daré diez tribus;

and he said to Jeroboam, Take ten pieces for thyself, for thus hath said the LORD God of Israel, Behold, I rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon and will give ten tribes to thee;

32 y él tendrá una tribu, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalén, ciudad que yo he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel;

and he shall have one tribe for my slave David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel

33 p or cuanto me han dejado, y han adorado a Astoret diosa de los sidonios, y a Quemos dios de Moab, y a Moloc dios de los hijos de Amón; y no han andado en mis caminos, para hacer lo que es recto delante de mis ojos, y mis estatutos, y mis derechos, como hizo David su padre.

because they have forsaken me and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh, the god of the Moabites, and Milcom, the god of the sons of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in my eyes and to keep my statutes and my rights, as did David his father.

34 P ero no quitaré nada de su reino de sus manos, sino que lo pondré por príncipe todos los días de su vida, por amor de David mi siervo, al cual yo elegí, y él guardó mis mandamientos y mis estatutos.

But I will not take any of his kingdom out of his hand, for I will make him prince all the days of his life for David, my slave’s sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:

35 M as yo quitaré el reino de la mano de su hijo, y lo daré a ti, las diez tribus;

But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.

36 y a su hijo daré una tribu, para que mi siervo David tenga lámpara todos los días delante de mi faz en Jerusalén, ciudad que yo me elegí para poner en ella mi nombre.

And unto his son I will give one tribe, that David my slave may have a lamp always before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name in her.

37 Y o pues te tomaré a ti, y tú reinarás en todas las cosas que deseare tu alma, y serás rey sobre Israel.

And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desires and shalt be king over Israel.

38 Y será que, si prestares oído a todas las cosas que te mandare, y anduvieres en mis caminos, e hicieres lo que es recto delante de mis ojos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como hizo David mi siervo, yo estaré contigo, y te edificaré casa firme, como la edifiqué a David, y yo te entregaré a Israel.

And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee and wilt walk in my ways and do that which is right in my sight, keeping my statutes and my commandments, as David, my slave, did, that I will be with thee and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.

39 Y yo afligiré la simiente de David a causa de esto, mas no para siempre.

And I will afflict the seed of David because of this, but not for ever.

40 P rocuró por tanto Salomón matar a Jeroboam, pero se levantó Jeroboam y huyó a Egipto, a Sisac rey de Egipto, y estuvo en Egipto hasta la muerte de Salomón.

Solomon sought, therefore, to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt unto Shishak, king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.

41 ¶ Los demás hechos de Salomón, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su sabiduría, ¿no están escritas en el libro de los hechos de Salomón?

¶ And the rest of the acts of Solomon and all that he did and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

42 Y los días que Salomón reinó en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel, fueron cuarenta años.

And the days that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

43 Y durmió Salomón con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de su padre David; y reinó en su lugar Roboam su hijo.

And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David, his father; and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
