1 P ero el rey Salomón amó a muchas mujeres extranjeras junto con la hija de Faraón; a las de Moab, a las de Amón, a las de Idumea, a las de Sidón, y a las heteas;

But King Solomon loved many foreign women—the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Sidonians, and Hittites.

2 d e los gentiles de las cuales el SEÑOR había dicho a los hijos de Israel: No entraréis a ellas, ni ellas entrarán a vosotros; porque ciertamente ellas harán inclinar vuestros corazones tras sus dioses. A éstas pues se juntó Salomón con amor.

They were of the very nations of whom the Lord said to the Israelites, You shall not mingle with them, neither shall they mingle with you, for surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods. Yet Solomon clung to these in love.

3 Y tuvo setecientas mujeres princesas, y trescientas concubinas; y sus mujeres hicieron inclinar su corazón.

He had 700 wives, princesses, and 300 concubines, and his wives turned away his heart from God.

4 Y ya que Salomón era viejo, sus mujeres inclinaron su corazón tras dioses ajenos; y su corazón no era perfecto con el SEÑOR su Dios, como el corazón de su padre David.

For when Solomon was old, his wives turned away his heart after other gods, and his heart was not perfect (complete and whole) with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.

5 P orque Salomón siguió a Astoret, diosa de los sidonios, y a Milcom, abominación de los amonitas.

For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after Milcom the abominable idol of the Ammonites!

6 E hizo Salomón lo malo ante los ojos del SEÑOR, y no siguió cumplidamente tras el SEÑOR como David su padre.

Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as David his father did.

7 E ntonces edificó Salomón un lugar alto a Quemos, abominación de Moab, en el monte que está enfrente de Jerusalén; y a Moloc, abominación de los hijos de Amón.

Then Solomon built a high place for Chemosh the abominable idol of Moab, on the hill opposite Jerusalem, and for Molech the abominable idol of the Ammonites.

8 Y así hizo para todas sus mujeres extranjeras, las cuales quemaban perfumes, y sacrificaban a sus dioses.

And he did so for all of his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

9 Y se enojó el SEÑOR contra Salomón, por cuanto estaba su corazón desviado del SEÑOR Dios de Israel, que se le había aparecido dos veces,

And the Lord was angry with Solomon because his heart was turned from the Lord, the God of Israel, Who had appeared to him twice,

10 y le había mandado acerca de esto, que no siguiera dioses ajenos; mas él no guardó lo que le mandó el SEÑOR.

And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods, but he did not do what the Lord commanded.

11 Y dijo el SEÑOR a Salomón: Por cuanto ha habido esto en ti, y no has guardado mi pacto y mis estatutos que yo te mandé, romperé el reino de ti, y lo entregaré a tu siervo.

Therefore the Lord said to Solomon, Because you are doing this and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely rend the kingdom from you and will give it to your servant!

12 P ero no lo haré en tus días, por amor de David tu padre; lo romperé de la mano de tu hijo.

However, in your days I will not do it, for David your father’s sake. But I will rend it out of the hand of your son!

13 S in embargo no romperé todo el reino, sino que daré una tribu a tu hijo, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalén que yo he elegido.

However, I will not tear away all the kingdom, but will give one tribe to your son for David My servant’s sake and for the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.

14 Y el SEÑOR suscitó un adversario a Salomón, a Adad, idumeo, de la simiente real, el cual estaba en Edom.

The Lord stirred up an adversary against Solomon, Hadad the Edomite; he was of royal descent in Edom.

15 P orque cuando David estaba en Edom, y subió Joab el general del ejército a enterrar los muertos, y mató a todos los varones de Edom

For when David was in Edom, and Joab the commander of Israel’s army went up to bury the slain, he slew every male in Edom.

16 ( porque seis meses habitó allí Joab, y todo Israel, hasta que hubo acabado a todo el sexo masculino en Edom);

For Joab and all Israel remained there for six months, until he had cut off every male in Edom.

17 e ntonces huyó Adad, y con él algunos varones idumeos de los siervos de su padre, y se fue a Egipto; era entonces Adad muchacho pequeño.

But Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants, to Egypt, Hadad being yet a little child.

18 Y se levantaron de Madián, y vinieron a Parán; y tomando consigo varones de Parán, vinieron a Egipto, a Faraón rey de Egipto, el cual le dio casa, y le mandó dar alimentos, y también le dio tierra.

They set out from Midian and came to Paran, and took men with them out of Paran and came to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave Hadad a house and land and ordered provisions for him.

19 Y halló Adad grande gracia delante de Faraón, el cual le dio por mujer a la hermana de su esposa, a la hermana de la reina Tahpenes.

Hadad found great favor with Pharaoh, so that he gave him in marriage the sister of his own wife Tahpenes the queen.

20 Y la hermana de Tahpenes le dio a luz a su hijo Genubat, al cual destetó Tahpenes dentro de la casa del Faraón; y estaba Genubat en la casa del Faraón entre los hijos de Faraón.

The sister of Tahpenes bore Hadad Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house; and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s household among the sons of Pharaoh.

21 Y oyendo Adad en Egipto que David había dormido con sus padres, y que había muerto Joab general del ejército, Adad dijo a Faraón: Déjame ir a mi tierra.

But when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers and that Joab the commander of Israel’s army was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to my own country.

22 Y le respondió Faraón: ¿Por qué? ¿Qué te falta conmigo, que procuras irte a tu tierra? Y él respondió: Nada; con todo, te ruego que me dejes ir.

Then Pharaoh said to him, But what have you lacked with me that now you want to go to your own country? He replied, Nothing. However, let me go anyhow.

23 L e despertó también Dios por adversario a Rezón, hijo de Eliada, el cual había huido de su amo Hadad-ezer, rey de Soba.

God raised up for another adversary, Rezon son of Eliada, who had fled from his master, Hadadezer king of Zobah.

24 Y había juntado gente contra él, y se había hecho capitán de una compañía, cuando David deshizo a los de Soba. Después se fueron a Damasco, y habitaron allí y le hicieron rey en Damasco.

Rezon gathered men about him and became leader of a marauding band after the slaughter by David. They went to Damascus and dwelt and made king in Damascus.

25 Y fue adversario a Israel todos los días de Salomón; y fue otro mal con el de Adad, porque aborreció a Israel, y reinó sobre Siria.

And Rezon was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, besides the mischief that Hadad did. Rezon abhorred Israel and reigned over Syria.

26 A simismo Jeroboam hijo de Nabat, efrateo de Sereda, siervo de Salomón (su madre se llamaba Zerúa, mujer viuda), alzó su mano contra el rey.

Jeroboam son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, rebelled against the king—

27 ¶ Y la causa porque éste alzó mano contra el rey, fue ésta: Salomón edificando a Milo, cerró el portillo de la ciudad de David su padre.

And for this reason: Solomon built the Millo and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.

28 Y el varón Jeroboam era valiente y esforzado; y viendo Salomón al joven que era hombre activo, le encomendó todo el cargo de la casa de José.

The man Jeroboam was a mighty man of courage. Solomon, seeing that the young man was industrious, put him in charge over all the labor of the house of Joseph.

29 A conteció, pues, en aquel tiempo, que saliendo Jeroboam de Jerusalén, le encontró en el camino el profeta Ahías, el silonita; y él estaba cubierto con una capa nueva; y estaban ellos dos solos en el campo.

At that time, when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite met him on the way. Ahijah had clad himself with a new garment; and they were alone in the field.

30 Y trabando Ahías de la capa nueva que tenía sobre sí, la rompió en doce pedazos,

Ahijah caught the new garment he wore and tore it into twelve pieces.

31 y dijo a Jeroboam: Toma para ti los diez pedazos; porque así dijo el SEÑOR Dios de Israel: He aquí que yo rompo el reino de la mano de Salomón, y a ti daré diez tribus;

He said to Jeroboam, You take ten pieces, for thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, Behold, I will tear the kingdom from the hand of Solomon and will give you ten tribes.

32 y él tendrá una tribu, por amor de David mi siervo, y por amor de Jerusalén, ciudad que yo he elegido de todas las tribus de Israel;

But he shall have one tribe, for My servant David’s sake and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel,

33 p or cuanto me han dejado, y han adorado a Astoret diosa de los sidonios, y a Quemos dios de Moab, y a Moloc dios de los hijos de Amón; y no han andado en mis caminos, para hacer lo que es recto delante de mis ojos, y mis estatutos, y mis derechos, como hizo David su padre.

Because they have forsaken Me and have worshiped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the Ammonites, and have not walked in My ways, to do what is right in My sight, keeping My statutes and My ordinances as did David his father.

34 P ero no quitaré nada de su reino de sus manos, sino que lo pondré por príncipe todos los días de su vida, por amor de David mi siervo, al cual yo elegí, y él guardó mis mandamientos y mis estatutos.

However, I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand; but I will make him ruler all the days of his life for David My servant’s sake, whom I chose because he kept My commandments and My statutes.

35 M as yo quitaré el reino de la mano de su hijo, y lo daré a ti, las diez tribus;

But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand and give it to you, ten tribes.

36 y a su hijo daré una tribu, para que mi siervo David tenga lámpara todos los días delante de mi faz en Jerusalén, ciudad que yo me elegí para poner en ella mi nombre.

Yet to his son I will give one tribe, that David My servant may always have a light before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I have chosen to put My Name.

37 Y o pues te tomaré a ti, y tú reinarás en todas las cosas que deseare tu alma, y serás rey sobre Israel.

And I will take you, and you shall reign according to all that your soul desires; and you shall be king over Israel.

38 Y será que, si prestares oído a todas las cosas que te mandare, y anduvieres en mis caminos, e hicieres lo que es recto delante de mis ojos, guardando mis estatutos y mis mandamientos, como hizo David mi siervo, yo estaré contigo, y te edificaré casa firme, como la edifiqué a David, y yo te entregaré a Israel.

And if you will hearken to all I command you and will walk in My ways and do right in My sight, keeping My statutes and My commandments, as David My servant did, I will be with you and build you a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel to you.

39 Y yo afligiré la simiente de David a causa de esto, mas no para siempre.

And I will for this afflict the descendants of David, but not forever.

40 P rocuró por tanto Salomón matar a Jeroboam, pero se levantó Jeroboam y huyó a Egipto, a Sisac rey de Egipto, y estuvo en Egipto hasta la muerte de Salomón.

Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. But Jeroboam arose and fled into Egypt, to Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until Solomon died.

41 ¶ Los demás hechos de Salomón, y todas las cosas que hizo, y su sabiduría, ¿no están escritas en el libro de los hechos de Salomón?

The rest of the acts of Solomon—and all that he did, and his wisdom (skill)—are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?

42 Y los días que Salomón reinó en Jerusalén sobre todo Israel, fueron cuarenta años.

The time Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.

43 Y durmió Salomón con sus padres, y fue sepultado en la ciudad de su padre David; y reinó en su lugar Roboam su hijo.

And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of David his father. Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
