1 A esto también se espanta mi corazón, y salta de su lugar.

Indeed, my heart also trembles and leaps out of its place.

2 O íd atentamente su voz terrible, y la palabra que sale de su boca.

Hear, oh, hear the roar of His voice and the sound of rumbling that goes out of His mouth!

3 D ebajo de todos los cielos lo enderezará, y su luz se extenderá hasta los fines de la tierra.

Under the whole heaven He lets it loose, and His lightning to the ends of the earth.

4 T ras de él bramará el sonido, tronará su valiente voz, y aunque sea oída su voz, no los detiene.

After it His voice roars; He thunders with the voice of His majesty, and He restrains not when His voice is heard.

5 T ronará Dios maravillosamente con su voz; él hace grandes cosas, y nosotros no lo entendemos.

God thunders marvelously with His voice; He does great things which we cannot comprehend.

6 P orque a la nieve dice: Sé en la tierra; lluvia tras lluvia, y lluvia tras lluvia en su fortaleza.

For He says to the snow, Fall on the earth; likewise He speaks to the showers and to the downpour of His mighty rains.

7 S ella la mano a todo hombre; para que todos los hombres conozcan su obra.

God seals up (stops, brings to a standstill by severe weather) the hand of every man, that all men whom He has made may know His doings (His sovereign power and their subjection to it).

8 L a bestia se entrará en su escondrijo, y habitará en sus moradas.

Then the beasts go into dens and remain in their lairs.

9 D el mediodía viene el torbellino, y de los vientos del norte el frío.

Out of its chamber comes the whirlwind, and cold from the scattering winds.

10 P or el soplo de Dios se da el hielo, y las anchas aguas son constreñidas.

By the breath of God ice is given, and the breadth of the waters is frozen over.

11 A demás de esto con la claridad fatiga las nubes, y las esparce con su luz.

He loads the thick cloud with moisture; He scatters the cloud of His lightning.

12 Y ellas se revuelven en derredor por sus designios, para hacer sobre la faz del mundo, en la tierra, lo que él les mandó.

And it is turned round about by His guidance, that they may do whatever He commands them upon the face of the habitable earth.

13 U nas veces por azote, otras por causa de su tierra, otras por misericordia las hará aparecer.

Whether it be for correction or for His earth or for His mercy and loving-kindness, He causes it to come.

14 E scucha esto, Job: Repósate, y considera las maravillas de Dios.

Hear this, O Job; stand still and consider the wondrous works of God.

15 ¿ Supiste tú por ventura, cuando Dios las ponía en concierto, y hacía levantar la luz de su nube?

Do you know how God lays His command upon them and causes the lightning of His cloud to shine?

16 ¿ Has conocido tú por ventura las diferencias de las nubes, las maravillas del Perfecto en sabiduría?

Do you know how the clouds are balanced, the wonderful works of Him Who is perfect in knowledge?

17 ¿ Y eran calientes tus vestidos cuando él daba el reposo a la tierra del mediodía?

why your garments are hot when He quiets the earth with the south wind?

18 ¿ Extendiste tú por ventura con él los cielos firmes como un espejo de fundición?

Can you along with Him spread out the sky, strong as a molten mirror?

19 M uéstranos, qué le hemos de decir; para que no hablemos disparates.

Tell us with what words of man we may address such a Being; we cannot state our case because we are in the dark.

20 ¿ Por ventura cuando yo hablare le será contado? ¿Cuando alguno se anegare le será dicho?

So shall it be told Him that I wish to speak? If a man speaks, shall he be swallowed up?

21 T ambién alguna vez no se ve la luz clara en los cielos, y pasa un viento y los limpia.

And now men cannot look upon the light when it is bright in the skies, when the wind has passed and cleared them.

22 D e la parte del norte vendrá la serenidad por el Dios terrible de alabanza.

Golden brightness and splendor come out of the north; terrible splendor and majesty God has upon Himself!

23 E l es Todopoderoso, al cual no alcanzamos; grande en potencia, y en juicio, y en multitud de justicia no aflige.

Touching the Almighty, we cannot find Him out; He is excellent in power; and to justice and plenteous righteousness He does no violence.

24 P or tanto los hombres le temerán; todos los sagaces de corazón no le verán.

Men therefore fear Him; He regards and respects not any who are wise in heart.
