1 E ntonces todo el pueblo de Judá tomó a Uzías, el cual era de dieciséis años, y lo pusieron por rey en lugar de Amasías su padre.

Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in place of his father Amaziah.

2 E dificó él a Elot, y la restituyó a Judá después que el rey durmió con sus padres.

He built Eloth and restored it to Judah after Amaziah slept with his fathers.

3 D e dieciséis años era Uzías cuando comenzó a reinar, y cincuenta y dos años reinó en Jerusalén. El nombre de su madre fue Jecolías, de Jerusalén.

Uzziah was sixteen years old when he began his fifty-two-year reign in Jerusalem. His mother was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.

4 E hizo lo recto ante los ojos del SEÑOR, conforme a todas las cosas que había hecho Amasías su padre.

He did right in the Lord’s sight, to the extent of all that his father Amaziah had done.

5 Y persistió en buscar a Dios en los días de Zacarías, entendido en visiones de Dios; y en estos días que él buscó al SEÑOR, Dios le prosperó.

He set himself to seek God in the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the things of God; and as long as he sought (inquired of, yearned for) the Lord, God made him prosper.

6 P orque salió, y peleó contra los filisteos, y rompió el muro de Gat, el muro de Jabnia, y el muro de Asdod; y edificó ciudades en Asdod, entre los filisteos.

He went out against the Philistines and broke down the walls of Gath, of Jabneh, and of Ashdod, and built cities near Ashdod and elsewhere among the Philistines.

7 Y Dios le dio ayuda contra los filisteos, y contra los árabes que habitaban en Gur-baal, y contra los Meunim.

And God helped him against the Philistines, and the Arabs who dwelt in Gur-baal and the Meunim.

8 Y dieron los amonitas presentes a Uzías, y su nombre fue divulgado hasta la entrada de Egipto; porque fue altamente poderoso.

The Ammonites paid tribute to Uzziah, and his fame spread abroad even to the border of Egypt, for he became very strong.

9 E dificó también Uzías torres en Jerusalén, junto a la puerta del ángulo, y junto a la puerta del valle, y junto a las esquinas; y las fortificó.

Also Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the Corner Gate, the Valley Gate, and at the angle of the wall, and fortified them.

10 A simismo edificó torres en el desierto, y abrió muchas cisternas; porque tuvo muchos ganados, así en los valles como en las vegas; y viñas, y labranzas, así en los montes como en los llanos fértiles; porque era amigo de la agricultura.

Also he built towers in the wilderness and hewed out many cisterns, for he had much livestock, both in the lowlands and in the tableland. And he had farmers and vinedressers in the hills and in the fertile fields, for he loved farming.

11 T uvo también Uzías escuadrones de guerreros, los cuales salían a la guerra en compañías, según que estaban por lista hecha por mano de Jehiel escriba y de Maasías gobernador, y por mano de Hananías, uno de los príncipes del rey.

And Uzziah had a combat army for waging war by regiments according to the number as recorded by Jeiel the secretary and Maaseiah the officer under the direction of Hananiah, one of the king’s commanders.

12 T odo el número de las cabezas de los padres, y de los valientes de gran valor, era dos mil seiscientos.

The whole number of the heads of fathers’ houses of mighty men of valor was 2, 600.

13 Y bajo la mano de éstos estaba el ejército de guerra, de trescientos siete mil quinientos guerreros poderosos y fuertes para ayudar al rey contra los enemigos.

Under their command was an army of 307, 500 who could fight with mighty power to help the king against the enemy.

14 Y les aparejó Uzías para todo el ejército, escudos, lanzas, cascos, cotas, arcos, y hondas de tirar piedras.

Uzziah prepared for all the army shields, spears, helmets, coats of mail, bows, and stones to sling.

15 E hizo en Jerusalén máquinas por industria de ingenieros, para que estuvieran en las torres y en los baluartes, para arrojar saetas y grandes piedras, y su fama se extendió lejos, porque se ayudó maravillosamente, hasta hacerse fuerte.

In Jerusalem he made machines invented by skillful men to be on the towers and the bulwarks, with which to shoot arrows and great stones. And his fame spread far, for he was marvelously helped till he was strong.

16 ¶ Mas cuando fue fortificado, su corazón se enalteció hasta corromperse; porque se rebeló contra el SEÑOR su Dios, entrando en el templo del SEÑOR para quemar incienso en el altar del incienso.

But when was strong, he became proud to his destruction; and he trespassed against the Lord his God, for he went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense on the altar of incense.

17 Y entró tras él el sacerdote Azarías, y con él ochenta sacerdotes del SEÑOR, de los valientes.

And Azariah the priest went in after him and with him eighty priests of the Lord, men of courage.

18 Y se opusieron contra el rey Uzías, y le dijeron: No te corresponde a ti, oh Uzías, el quemar incienso al SEÑOR, sino a los sacerdotes hijos de Aarón, que son consagrados para quemarlo; sal del santuario, porque te has rebelado, y no te será para gloria delante del SEÑOR Dios.

They opposed King Uzziah and said to him, It is not for you, Uzziah, to burn incense to the Lord, but for the priests, the sons of Aaron, who are set apart to burn incense. Withdraw from the sanctuary; you have trespassed, and that will not be to your credit and honor before the Lord God.

19 Y se airó Uzías, que tenía el incienso en la mano para quemarlo; y en ésta su ira contra los sacerdotes, la lepra le salió en la frente delante de los sacerdotes en la Casa del SEÑOR, junto al altar del incienso.

Then Uzziah was enraged, and he had a censer in his hand to burn incense. And while he was enraged with the priests, leprosy broke out on his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, beside the incense altar.

20 Y le miró Azarías el sumo sacerdote, y todos los sacerdotes, y he aquí la lepra estaba en su frente; y le hicieron salir aprisa de aquel lugar; y él también se dio prisa a salir, porque el SEÑOR lo había herido.

And as Azariah the chief priest and all the priests looked upon him, behold, he was leprous on his forehead! So they forced him out of there; and he also made haste to get out, because the Lord had smitten him.

21 A sí el rey Uzías fue leproso hasta el día de su muerte, y habitó en una casa apartada, leproso, porque era cortado de la Casa del SEÑOR; y Jotam su hijo tuvo el cargo de la casa real, juzgando al pueblo de la tierra.

And King Uzziah was a leper to the day of his death, and, being a leper, he dwelt in a separate house, for he was excluded from the Lord’s house. And Jotham his son took charge of the king’s household, ruling the people of the land.

22 L os demás hechos de Uzías, primeros y postreros, lo escribió Isaías el profeta, hijo de Amós.

Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, from first to last, Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, wrote.

23 Y durmió Uzías con sus padres, y lo sepultaron con sus padres en el campo de los sepulcros reales; porque dijeron: Leproso es. Y reinó Jotam su hijo en lugar suyo.

So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the burial field of the kings, for they said, He is a leper. Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
