1 D e los hijos de Amón. Así dijo el SEÑOR: ¿No tiene hijos Israel? ¿No tiene heredero? ¿Por qué tomó como por heredad el rey de ellos a Gad, y su pueblo habitó en sus ciudades?

Concerning and against the Ammonites: Thus says the Lord: Has Israel no sons ? Has no heir? Why then has Milcom dispossessed and inherited Gad, and his people dwell in Gad’s cities?

2 P or tanto, he aquí vienen días, dijo el SEÑOR, en que haré oír en Rabá de los hijos de Amón alarma de guerra; y será puesta en montón de asolamiento, y sus ciudades serán puestas a fuego, e Israel tomará por heredad a los que los tomaron a ellos, dijo el SEÑOR.

Therefore behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will cause an alarm of war to be heard against Rabbah of the Ammonites; and it will become a desolate heap, and its daughter will be burned with fire. Then will Israel dispossess those who dispossessed him, says the Lord.

3 A úlla, oh Hesbón, porque destruida es Hai; clamad, hijas de Rabá, vestíos de cilicio, endechad, y rodead por los vallados, porque el rey de ellos fue llevado en cautiverio, sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes juntamente.

Wail, O Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste! Cry out, you daughter of Rabbah! Gird yourselves with sackcloth, lament, and run to and fro inside the enclosures; for Milcom shall go into exile, together with his priests and his princes.

4 ¿ Por qué te glorías de los valles? Tu valle se le escurrió, oh hija contumaz, la que confía en sus tesoros, la que dice: ¿Quién vendrá contra mí?

Why do you boast of your valleys? Your valley flows away, O rebellious and faithless daughter, who trusted in her treasures, who said, Who can come against me?

5 H e aquí yo traigo sobre ti espanto, dice el Señor DIOS de los ejércitos, de todos tus alrededores; y seréis lanzados cada uno en derechura de su rostro, y no habrá quien recoja al errante.

Behold, I will bring terror upon you, says the Lord, the Lord of hosts, from all who are round about you; and you will be driven out, each man fleeing straight before him, and there will be no one to gather together the fugitives.

6 Y después de esto haré tornar la cautividad de los hijos de Amón, dijo el SEÑOR.

And afterward I will reverse the captivity of the children of Ammon and restore their fortunes, says the Lord.

7 D e Edom. Así dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: ¿No hay más sabiduría en Temán? ¿Ha perecido el consejo en los sabios? ¿Se corrompió su sabiduría?

Concerning and against Edom: Thus says the Lord of hosts: Is there no longer wisdom in Teman ? Has counsel vanished from the intelligent and prudent? Is their wisdom all poured out and used up?

8 H uid, volveos, escondeos en simas para estar, oh moradores de Dedán; porque el quebrantamiento de Esaú traeré sobre él, al tiempo que lo he de visitar.

Flee, turn back, dwell deep, O inhabitants of Dedan! For I will bring the calamity and destruction of Esau upon him when I inspect and punish him.

9 S i vendimiadores vinieran contra ti, ¿no dejarán rebuscos? Si ladrones de noche, tomarán lo que hubieren necesitado.

If grape gatherers came to you, would they not leave some ungleaned grapes? If thieves came by night, would they not destroy only what is enough ?

10 P ero yo desnudaré a Esaú, descubriré sus escondrijos, y no podrá esconderse; será destruida su simiente, y sus hermanos, y sus vecinos; y no será.

But I have stripped Esau (Edom) bare; I have uncovered his hiding places, and he cannot hide himself. His offspring will be destroyed, with his brethren and his neighbors; and he will be no more.

11 D eja tus huérfanos, yo los criaré; y en mí se confiarán tus viudas.

Leave your fatherless children; I will preserve them alive. And let your widows trust and confide in Me.

12 P orque así dijo el SEÑOR: He aquí que los que no estaban condenados a beber del cáliz, beberán ciertamente; ¿y serás tú absuelto del todo? No serás absuelto, sino que de cierto beberás.

For thus says the Lord: Behold, they whose rule was not to drink the cup shall assuredly drink—and are you to remain unpunished? You shall not go unpunished, but you shall surely drink.

13 P orque por mí juré, dijo el SEÑOR, que en asolamiento, en oprobio, en soledad, y en maldición, será Bosra; y todas sus ciudades serán en asolamientos perpetuos.

For I have sworn by Myself, says the Lord, that Bozrah shall become a horror, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all its cities shall be perpetual wastes.

14 L a noticia oí, que del SEÑOR había sido enviado mensajero a los gentiles, diciendo: Juntaos, y venid contra ella, y levantaos a la batalla.

I have heard a report from the Lord, and a messenger is sent to the nations, saying, Gather together and come against her! And rise up for the battle.

15 P orque he aquí que pequeño te he puesto entre los gentiles, menospreciado entre los hombres.

For, behold, I will make you small among the nations and despised among men.

16 T u arrogancia te engañó, y la soberbia de tu corazón, tú que habitas en cavernas de peñas, que tienes la altura del monte; aunque alces como águila tu nido, de allí te haré descender, dijo el SEÑOR.

Your horror (your idol) has deceived you, and the pride of your heart, O you who dwell in the clefts of the rock '> Petra], who hold and occupy the height of the hill. Though you make your nest as high as the eagle’s, I will bring you down from there, says the Lord.

17 Y será Edom en asolamiento; todo aquel que pasare por ella se espantará, y silbará sobre todas sus plagas.

And Edom shall be an astonishment and a horror; everyone who goes by it shall be astonished and shall hiss with horror at all its plagues and disasters.

18 C omo en el trastornamiento de Sodoma y de Gomorra, y de sus ciudades vecinas, será, dijo el SEÑOR, no morará allí nadie, ni la habitará hijo de hombre.

As in the overthrow of Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, says the Lord, no man shall dwell there; neither shall a son of man live in it temporarily.

19 H e aquí que como león subirá de la hinchazón del Jordán a la morada fuerte; porque haré reposo y lo haré correr de sobre ella, y al que fuere escogido la encargaré; porque ¿quién es semejante a mí? ¿O quién me emplazará? ¿O quién será aquel pastor que me podrá resistir?

See, there comes up one like a lion from the jungles (the pride) of the Jordan against the strong habitation and into the permanent pastures; for in a twinkling I will drive him from there. And I will appoint over him the one whom I choose. For who is like Me? And who will appoint for Me the time and prosecute Me for this proceeding? And what shepherd can stand before Me and defy Me?

20 P or tanto, oíd el consejo del SEÑOR, que ha acordado sobre Edom; y sus pensamientos, que ha resuelto sobre los moradores de Temán. Ciertamente los más pequeños del hato los arrastrarán, y destruirán sus moradas con ellos.

Therefore hear the plan of the Lord which He has made against Edom, and His purposes which He has formed against the inhabitants of Teman: Surely they shall be dragged away, even the little ones of the flock; surely He shall make their habitation desolate because of them and their fold shocked at their fate.

21 D el estruendo de la caída de ellos la tierra tembló, y el grito de su voz se oyó en el mar Bermejo.

At the sound of their fall the earth shall tremble; at their crying the sound shall be heard at the Red Sea.

22 H e aquí que como águila subirá y volará, y extenderá sus alas sobre Bosra; y el corazón de los valientes de Edom será en aquel día como el corazón de mujer en angustias.

Behold, one will come up and fly swiftly like an eagle and spread his wings against Bozrah; and in that day the hearts of the mighty warriors of Edom will be like the heart of a woman in her pangs.

23 D e Damasco: Se confundió Hamat, y Arfad, porque oyeron malas nuevas; se derritieron en aguas de desmayo, no pueden sosegarse.

Concerning and against Damascus: Hamath and Arpad are confounded and put to shame, for they have heard bad news; they are fainthearted and wasting away; there is trouble and anxiety on a sea which cannot rest.

24 S e desmayó Damasco, se volvió para huir, y le tomó temblor; angustia y dolores le tomaron, como de mujer que está de parto.

Damascus has become feeble; she has turned to flee, and terror and panic have seized her; anguish and sorrow have taken hold of her, like a woman in childbirth.

25 ¡ Cómo no perdonaron a la ciudad de alabanza, ciudad de mi gozo!

How the renowned city is not deserted, the city of my joy!.

26 P or tanto, sus jóvenes caerán en sus plazas, y todos los hombres de guerra morirán en aquel día, dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos.

Therefore her young men shall fall in her streets, and all her soldiers shall be destroyed in that day, says the Lord of hosts.

27 Y haré encender fuego en el muro de Damasco, y consumirá las casas de Ben-adad.

And I will kindle a fire in the wall of Damascus, and it will consume the palaces of Ben-hadad.

28 D e Cedar y de los reinos de Hazor, los cuales hirió Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia. Así dijo el SEÑOR: Levantaos, subid contra Cedar, y destruid los hijos de oriente (de Cedem).

Concerning Kedar and concerning the kingdoms of Hazor, which Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon shall smite: Thus says the Lord: Arise, go up against Kedar and destroy the sons of the east.

29 S us tiendas y sus ganados tomarán; sus cortinas, y todos sus vasos, y sus camellos, tomarán para sí; y llamarán contra ellos miedo alrededor.

Their tents and their flocks shall they take—their tent hangings and all their utensils and their camels. And men shall cry to them, Terror on every side!

30 H uid, idos muy lejos, meteos en simas para estar, oh moradores de Hazor, dijo el SEÑOR; porque tomó consejo contra vosotros Nabucodonosor rey de Babilonia, y contra vosotros ha formado designio.

Flee, wander far off, dwell deep, O you inhabitants of Hazor says the Lord, for Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon has planned a course against you and has conceived a purpose against you.

31 L evantaos, subid a gente pacífica, que vive confiadamente, dice el SEÑOR, que ni tienen puertas ni cerrojos, que viven solos.

Arise, get up into a nation which is at ease, which dwells without care, says the Lord, which has neither gates nor bars, which dwells apart and alone.

32 Y serán sus camellos por presa, y la multitud de sus ganados por despojo; y los esparciré por todos los vientos, echados hasta el postrer rincón; y de todos sus lados les traeré su ruina, dijo el SEÑOR.

And their camels will be booty, and their herds of cattle a spoil; and I will scatter to all winds those who clip off the corners of their hair, and I will bring their calamity from every side, says the Lord.

33 Y Hazor será morada de dragones, soledad para siempre; ninguno morará allí, ni la habitará hijo de hombre.

And Hazor shall become a dwelling place of jackals, a desolation forever; no man shall dwell there; neither shall a son of man live in it temporarily.

34 P alabra del SEÑOR que vino a Jeremías profeta acerca de Elam, en el principio del reinado de Sedequías rey de Judá, diciendo:

The word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning and against Elam, in the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, saying,

35 A sí dijo el SEÑOR de los ejércitos: He aquí que yo quiebro el arco de Elam, principio de su fortaleza.

Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will break the bow of Elam, the chief of their strength.

36 Y traeré sobre Elam los cuatro vientos de los cuatro cantones del cielo, y los aventaré a todos estos vientos; ni habrá gente adonde no vengan extranjeros de Elam.

And upon Elam will I bring the four winds from the four corners of heaven; and I will scatter them toward all those winds, and there will be no nation to which the outcasts of Elam will not come.

37 Y haré que Elam tenga temor delante de sus enemigos, y delante de los que buscan su alma; y traeré sobre ellos mal, y el furor de mi enojo, dijo el SEÑOR; y enviaré en pos de ellos espada hasta que los acabe.

And I will cause Elam to be dismayed and terrified before their enemies and before those who seek and demand their lives; and I will bring evil and disaster upon them, even My fierce anger, says the Lord. And I will send the sword after them until I have consumed them.

38 Y pondré mi trono en Elam, y perderé de allí rey y príncipes, dijo el SEÑOR.

And I will set My throne in Elam; and I will destroy from their king and princes, says the Lord.

39 M as acontecerá en lo postrero de los días, que haré tornar la cautividad de Elam, dijo el SEÑOR.

But it shall be in the latter days (the end of days) that I will reverse the captivity and restore the fortunes of Elam, says the Lord.
