1 L íbrame, oh SEÑOR, del hombre malo; de varón de violencia me guarde.

Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men; preserve me from violent men;

2 L os cuales pensaron males en el corazón, cada día urden contiendas.

They devise mischiefs in their heart; continually they gather together and stir up wars.

3 A guzaron su lengua como la serpiente; veneno de áspid hay debajo de sus labios. (Selah.)

They sharpen their tongues like a serpent’s; adders’ poison is under their lips. Selah!

4 G uárdame, oh SEÑOR, de manos del impío, del varón de violencia me guarde; que han pensado trastornar mis pasos.

Keep me, O Lord, from the hands of the wicked; preserve me from the violent men who have purposed to thrust aside my steps.

5 M e han escondido lazo y cuerdas los soberbios; han tendido red; en el lugar de la senda me han puesto lazos. (Selah.)

The proud have hidden a snare for me; they have spread cords as a net by the wayside, they have set traps for me. Selah!

6 H e dicho al SEÑOR: Dios mío eres tú; escucha, oh SEÑOR, la voz de mis ruegos.

I said to the Lord, You are my God; give ear to the voice of my supplications, O Lord.

7 O h DIOS el Señor, fortaleza de mi salud, cubre mi cabeza el día de las armas.

O God the Lord, the Strength of my salvation, You have covered my head in the day of battle.

8 ¶ No des, oh SEÑOR, al impío sus deseos; no saques adelante su pensamiento, para que no se ensoberbezca. (Selah.)

Grant not, O Lord, the desires of the wicked; further not their wicked plot and device, lest they exalt themselves. Selah!

9 E n cuanto a la cabeza de los que me cercan, la perversidad de sus labios la cubra.

Those who are fencing me in raise their heads; may the mischief of their own lips and the very things they desire for me come upon them.

10 C aigan sobre ellos brasas; en el fuego los haga caer, en profundos hoyos de donde no salgan.

Let burning coals fall upon them; let them be cast into the fire, into floods of water or deep water pits, from which they shall not rise.

11 E l varón de lengua maligna no será firme en la tierra; el mal cazará al varón de violencia para derribarle.

Let not a man of slanderous tongue be established in the earth; let evil hunt the violent man to overthrow him.

12 Y o sé que hará el SEÑOR el juicio del pobre, el juicio de los menesterosos.

I know and rest in confidence upon it that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will secure justice for the poor and needy.

13 C iertamente los justos alabarán tu Nombre; los rectos morarán en tu presencia.

Surely the righteous shall give thanks to Your name; the upright shall dwell in Your presence (before Your very face).
