1 ¶ Y hablando ellos al pueblo, sobrevinieron los sacerdotes, y el magistrado del Templo, y los saduceos,

And while they were talking to the people, the high priests and the military commander of the temple and the Sadducees came upon them,

2 r esentidos de que enseñaran al pueblo, y anunciaran en el Nombre de Jesús la resurrección de los muertos.

Being vexed and indignant through and through because they were teaching the people and proclaiming in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

3 Y les echaron mano, y los pusieron en la cárcel hasta el día siguiente; porque era ya tarde.

So they laid hands on them (arrested them) and put them in prison until the following day, for it was already evening.

4 P ero muchos de los que habían oído la palabra, creyeron; y fue el número de los varones como cinco mil.

But many of those who heard the message believed (adhered to and trusted in and relied on Jesus as the Christ). And their number grew and came to about 5, 000.

5 ¶ Y aconteció al día siguiente, que se juntaron en Jerusalén los príncipes de ellos, y los ancianos, y los escribas;

Then on the following day, their magistrates and elders and scribes were assembled in Jerusalem,

6 y Anás, príncipe de los sacerdotes, y Caifás, y Juan y Alejandro, y todos los que eran del linaje sacerdotal;

Including Annas the high priest and Caiaphas and John and Alexander and all others who belonged to the high priestly relationship.

7 y haciéndolos presentar en medio, les preguntaron: ¿Con qué potestad, o en qué nombre, habéis hecho vosotros esto?

And they set the men in their midst and repeatedly demanded, By what sort of power or by what kind of authority did you do this ?

8 E ntonces Pedro, lleno del Espíritu Santo, les dijo: Príncipes del pueblo, y ancianos de Israel:

Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, Rulers of the people and members of the council (the Sanhedrin),

9 P ues si somos hoy demandados acerca del beneficio hecho a un hombre enfermo, de qué manera éste haya sido sanado,

If we are being put on trial today and examined concerning a good deed done to benefit a feeble (helpless) cripple, by what means this man has been restored to health,

10 s ea notorio a todos vosotros, y a todo el pueblo de Israel, que en el Nombre de Jesús el Cristo, el Nazareno, el que vosotros Colgasteis en un madero, y Dios le resucitó de los muertos, por él este hombre está en vuestra presencia sano.

Let it be known and understood by all of you, and by the whole house of Israel, that in the name and through the power and authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Whom you crucified, Whom God raised from the dead, in Him and by means of Him this man is standing here before you well and sound in body.

11 E ste es la piedra reprobada por vosotros los edificadores, la cual es puesta por cabeza del ángulo.

This is the Stone which was despised and rejected by you, the builders, but which has become the Head of the corner.

12 Y en ningún otro hay salud; porque no hay otro nombre debajo del cielo, dado a los hombres, en que podamos ser salvos.

And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.

13 E ntonces viendo la constancia de Pedro y de Juan, y sabiendo que eran hombres sin letras e ignorantes, se maravillaban; y les conocían que habían estado con Jesús.

Now when they saw the boldness and unfettered eloquence of Peter and John and perceived that they were unlearned and untrained in the schools, they marveled; and they recognized that they had been with Jesus.

14 Y viendo al hombre que había sido sanado, que estaba con ellos, no podían decir nada en contra.

And since they saw the man who had been cured standing there beside them, they could not contradict the fact or say anything in opposition.

15 ¶ Mas les mandaron que salieran fuera del concilio; y conferían entre sí,

But having ordered to go aside out of the council, they conferred (debated) among themselves,

16 d iciendo: ¿Qué hemos de hacer a estos hombres? Porque de cierto, señal manifiesta ha sido hecha por ellos, notoria a todos los que moran en Jerusalén, y no lo podemos negar.

Saying, What are we to do with these men? For that an extraordinary miracle has been performed by (through) them is plain to all the residents of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.

17 T odavía, para que no se divulgue más por el pueblo, amenacémoslos, que no hablen de aquí en adelante a hombre alguno en este Nombre.

But in order that it may not spread further among the people and the nation, let us warn and forbid them with a stern threat to speak any more to anyone in this name.

18 Y llamándolos, les intimaron que en ninguna manera hablaran ni enseñaran en el Nombre de Jesús.

they summoned them and imperatively instructed them not to converse in any way or teach at all in or about the name of Jesus.

19 E ntonces Pedro y Juan, respondiendo, les dijeron: Juzgad si es justo delante de Dios obedecer antes a vosotros que a Dios;

But Peter and John replied to them, Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you and obey you rather than God, you must decide (judge).

20 p orque no podemos dejar de decir lo que hemos visto y oído.

But we cannot help telling what we have seen and heard.

21 E llos entonces los despacharon amenazándolos, no hallando ningún modo de castigarlos, por causa del pueblo; porque todos glorificaban a Dios de lo que había sido hecho.

Then when had further threatened them, they let them go, not seeing how they could secure a conviction against them because of the people; for everybody was praising and glorifying God for what had occurred.

22 P orque el hombre en quien había sido hecho este milagro de sanidad, era de más de cuarenta años.

For the man on whom this sign (miracle) of healing was performed was more than forty years old.

23 ¶ Y sueltos, vinieron a los suyos, y contaron todo lo que los príncipes de los sacerdotes y los ancianos les habían dicho.

After they were permitted to go, returned to their own and told all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.

24 Y ellos, habiéndolo oído, alzaron unánimes la voz a Dios, y dijeron: Señor, tú eres el Dios que hiciste el cielo y la tierra, el mar, y todo lo que en ellos hay;

And when they heard it, lifted their voices together with one united mind to God and said, O Sovereign Lord, You are He Who made the heaven and the earth and the sea and everything that is in them,

25 q ue (en el Espíritu Santo) por boca de David (nuestro padre), tu siervo, dijiste: ¿Por qué han bramado los gentiles, y los pueblos han pensado cosas vanas?

Who by the mouth of our forefather David, Your servant and child, said through the Holy Spirit, Why did the heathen (Gentiles) become wanton and insolent and rage, and the people imagine and study and plan vain (fruitless) things ?

26 A sistieron los reyes de la tierra, y los príncipes se juntaron en uno contra el Señor, y contra su Cristo.

The kings of the earth took their stand in array and the rulers were assembled and combined together against the Lord and against His Anointed (Christ, the Messiah).

27 P orque verdaderamente se juntaron (en esta ciudad) contra tu santo siervo Jesús, al cual ungiste, Herodes y Poncio Pilato, con los gentiles y los pueblos de Israel,

For in this city there actually met and plotted together against Your holy Child and Servant Jesus, Whom You consecrated by anointing, both Herod and Pontius Pilate with the Gentiles and peoples of Israel,

28 p ara hacer lo que tu mano y tu consejo habían antes determinado que había de ser hecho.

To carry out all that Your hand and Your will and purpose had predestined (predetermined) should occur.

29 Y ahora, Señor, mira sus amenazas, y da a tus siervos que con toda confianza hablen tu palabra;

And now, Lord, observe their threats and grant to Your bond servants to declare Your message fearlessly,

30 q ue extiendas tu mano a que sanidades, y milagros, y prodigios sean hechos por el Nombre de tu santo siervo Jesús.

While You stretch out Your hand to cure and to perform signs and wonders through the authority and by the power of the name of Your holy Child and Servant Jesus.

31 C uando hubieron orado, el lugar en que estaban congregados tembló; y todos fueron llenos del Espíritu Santo, y hablaron la palabra de Dios con confianza.

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were assembled was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they continued to speak the Word of God with freedom and boldness and courage.

32 ¶ Y de la multitud de los que habían creído era un corazón y un alma; y ninguno decía ser suyo algo de lo que poseía; mas todas las cosas les eran comunes.

Now the company of believers was of one heart and soul, and not one of them claimed that anything which he possessed was his own, but everything they had was in common and for the use of all.

33 Y los apóstoles daban testimonio de la resurrección del Señor Jesús con gran poder; y gran gracia era sobre todos ellos.

And with great strength and ability and power the apostles delivered their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace (loving-kindness and favor and goodwill) rested richly upon them all.

34 Q ue ningún necesitado había entre ellos; porque todos los que poseían heredades o casas, vendiéndolas, traían el precio de lo vendido,

Nor was there a destitute or needy person among them, for as many as were owners of lands or houses proceeded to sell them, and one by one they brought (gave back) the amount received from the sales

35 y lo ponían a los pies de los apóstoles; y era repartido a cada uno de acuerdo a su necesidad.

And laid it at the feet of the apostles (special messengers). Then distribution was made according as anyone had need.

36 E ntonces José, que fue llamado de los apóstoles por sobrenombre, Bernabé, (que es interpretado, Hijo de consolación) levita, natural de Chipre,

Now Joseph, a Levite and native of Cyprus who was surnamed Barnabas by the apostles, which interpreted means Son of Encouragement,

37 c omo tenía una heredad, la vendió, y trajo el precio, y lo puso a los pies de los apóstoles.

Sold a field which belonged to him and brought the sum of money and laid it at the feet of the apostles.
