1 ¶ Entonces salieron todos los hijos de Israel, y se reunió la congregación como un solo hombre, desde Dan hasta Beerseba y la tierra de Galaad, al SEÑOR en Mizpa.

Then all the Israelites came out, and the congregation assembled as one man to the Lord at Mizpah, from Dan even to Beersheba, including the land of Gilead.

2 Y los cantones de todo el pueblo, de todas las tribus de Israel, se hallaron presentes en la reunión del pueblo de Dios, cuatrocientos mil hombres de a pie que sacaban espada.

And the chiefs of all the people, of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, 400, 000 men on foot who drew the sword.

3 ( Y los hijos de Benjamín oyeron que los hijos de Israel habían subido a Mizpa.) Y dijeron los hijos de Israel: Decid cómo fue esta maldad.

(Now the Benjamites heard that the Israelites had gone up to Mizpah.) There the Israelites asked, How did this wickedness happen?

4 E ntonces el varón levita, marido de la mujer muerta, respondió y dijo: Yo llegué a Gabaa de Benjamín con mi concubina, para tener allí la noche.

And the Levite, the husband of the woman who was murdered, replied, I came to Gibeah which belongs to Benjamin, I and my concubine, to spend the night.

5 Y levantándose contra mí los señores de Gabaa, cercaron sobre mí la casa de noche, con idea de matarme, y oprimieron mi concubina de tal manera, que ella fue muerta.

And the men of Gibeah rose against me and beset the house round about me by night; they meant to kill me and they raped my concubine, and she is dead.

6 E ntonces tomando yo mi concubina, la corté en pedazos, y las envié por todo el término de la posesión de Israel; por cuanto han hecho maldad y locura en Israel.

And I took my concubine and cut her in pieces and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel, for they have committed abomination and folly in Israel.

7 H e aquí que todos vosotros los hijos de Israel estáis presentes; daos aquí parecer y consejo.

Behold, you Israelites, all of you, give here your advice and counsel.

8 E ntonces todo el pueblo, como un solo hombre, se levantó, y dijeron: Ninguno de nosotros irá a su tienda, ni nos apartaremos cada uno a su casa,

And all the people arose as one man, saying, Not any of us will go to his tent, and none of us will return to his home.

9 h asta que hagamos esto sobre Gabaa: que echemos suertes contra ella;

But now this we will do to Gibeah: we will go up by lot against it,

10 y tomaremos diez hombres de cada ciento por todas las tribus de Israel, y de cada mil ciento, y mil de cada diez mil, que lleven bastimento para el pueblo que irá contra Gabaa de Benjamín, para hacerles conforme a toda la locura que ha cometido en Israel.

And we will take ten men of 100 throughout all the tribes of Israel, and 100 of 1, 000, and 1, 000 out of 10, 000, to bring provisions for the men, that when they come to Gibeah of Benjamin they may do to them according to all the folly which they have committed in Israel.

11 Y se juntaron todos los hombres de Israel contra la ciudad, ligados como un solo hombre.

So all the men of Israel gathered against the city, united as one man.

12 ¶ Y las tribus de Israel enviaron varones por toda la tribu de Benjamín, diciendo: ¿Qué maldad es ésta que ha sido hecha entre vosotros?

And the tribes of Israel sent men through all the tribe of Benjamin, saying, What wickedness is this that has been done among you?

13 E ntregad, pues, ahora aquellos hombres, hijos de Belial, que están en Gabaa, para que los matemos, y barramos el mal de Israel. Mas los de Benjamín no quisieron oír la voz de sus hermanos los hijos de Israel;

Now therefore, give up the men, the base fellows in Gibeah, that we may put them to death and put away evil from Israel. But the Benjamites would not listen to the voice of their kinsmen the Israelites.

14 a ntes los de Benjamín se juntaron de las ciudades de Gabaa, para salir a pelear contra los hijos de Israel.

But the Benjamites out of the cities assembled at Gibeah to go out to battle against the other Israelites.

15 Y fueron contados en aquel tiempo los hijos de Benjamín de las ciudades, veintiséis mil hombres que sacaban espada, sin los que moraban en Gabaa, que fueron por cuenta setecientos varones escogidos.

And the Benjamites mustered out of their cities at that time 26, 000 men who drew the sword, besides the inhabitants of Gibeah, who mustered 700 chosen men.

16 D e toda aquella gente había setecientos hombres escogidos, que eran cerrados de la mano derecha (zurdos), todos los cuales tiraban una piedra con la honda a un cabello sin errar.

Among all these were 700 chosen left-handed men; every one could sling stones at a hair and not miss.

17 Y fueron contados los varones de Israel, fuera de Benjamín, cuatrocientos mil hombres que sacaban espada, todos estos hombres de guerra.

And the men of Israel, other than Benjamin, mustered 400, 000 men who drew the sword; all these were men of war.

18 ¶ Luego se levantaron los hijos de Israel, y subieron a la Casa de Dios, y consultaron a Dios, diciendo: ¿Quién subirá de nosotros el primero en la guerra contra los hijos de Benjamín? Y el SEÑOR respondió: Judá será el primero.

The Israelites arose and went up to the house of God and asked counsel of God and said, Which of us shall take the lead to battle against the Benjamites? And the Lord said, Judah shall go up first.

19 L evantándose, pues, de mañana los hijos de Israel, pusieron campamento contra Gabaa.

Then the Israelites rose in the morning and encamped against Gibeah.

20 P orque los hijos de Israel habían salido a hacer guerra contra Benjamín; y los varones de Israel ordenaron la batalla contra ellos junto a Gabaa.

And the men of Israel went out to battle against Benjamin and set the battle in array against them at Gibeah.

21 S aliendo entonces de Gabaa los hijos de Benjamín, derribaron en tierra veintidós mil hombres de los hijos de Israel.

The Benjamites came forth out of Gibeah and felled to the ground that day 22, 000 men of the Israelites.

22 M as reanimándose el pueblo, los varones de Israel volvieron a ordenar la batalla en el mismo lugar donde la habían ordenado el primer día.

But the people, the men of Israel, took courage and strengthened themselves and again set their battle line in the same place where they formed it the first day.

23 ( Y los hijos de Israel subieron, y lloraron delante del SEÑOR hasta la tarde, y consultaron con el SEÑOR, diciendo: ¿Volveré a pelear con los hijos de Benjamín mi hermano? Y el SEÑOR les respondió: Subid contra él.)

And the Israelites went up and wept before the Lord until evening and asked of the Lord, Shall we go up again to battle against our brethren the Benjamites? And the Lord said, Go up against them.

24 Y el segundo día los hijos de Israel se acercaron a los hijos de Benjamín.

So the Israelites came near against the Benjamites the second day.

25 Y aquel segundo día, saliendo Benjamín de Gabaa contra ellos, derribaron por tierra otros dieciocho mil hombres de los hijos de Israel, todos los cuales sacaban espada.

And Benjamin went forth out of Gibeah against them the second day and felled to the ground the Israelites again, 18, 000 men, all of whom were swordsmen.

26 ¶ Entonces subieron todos los hijos de Israel, y todo el pueblo, y vinieron a la Casa de Dios; y lloraron, y se sentaron allí delante del SEÑOR, y ayunaron aquel día hasta la tarde; y sacrificaron holocaustos y pacíficos delante del SEÑOR.

Then all the Israelites, the whole army, went up and came to the house of God and wept; and they sat there before the Lord and fasted that day until evening and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

27 Y los hijos de Israel preguntaron al SEÑOR, (porque el arca del pacto de Dios estaba allí en aquellos días,

And the Israelites inquired of the Lord—for the ark of the covenant of God was there in those days,

28 y Finees, hijo de Eleazar, hijo de Aarón, se presentaba delante de ella en aquellos días,) y dijeron: ¿Volveré a salir en batalla contra los hijos de Benjamín mi hermano, o desistiremos? Y el SEÑOR dijo: Subid, que mañana yo lo entregaré en tu mano.

And Phinehas son of Eleazar, the son of Aaron, ministered before it in those days—saying, Shall we yet again go out to battle against our brethren the Benjamites or shall we quit? And the Lord said, Go up, for tomorrow I will deliver them into your hand.

29 Y puso Israel emboscadas alrededor de Gabaa.

So Israel set men in ambush round about Gibeah.

30 S ubiendo entonces los hijos de Israel contra los hijos de Benjamín el tercer día, ordenaron la batalla delante de Gabaa, como las otras veces.

And the Israelites went up against the Benjamites on the third day and set themselves in array against Gibeah as at other times.

31 Y saliendo los hijos de Benjamín contra el pueblo, alejados de la ciudad, comenzaron a herir a algunos del pueblo, matando como las otras veces por los caminos, uno de los cuales sube a Bet-el, y el otro a Gabaa por el campo; y mataron unos treinta hombres de Israel.

And the Benjamites went out against their army and were drawn away from the city; and they began to smite and kill some of the people as at other times, in the highways, one of which goes up to Bethel and the other to Gibeah, and in the open country—about thirty men of Israel.

32 Y los hijos de Benjamín decían: Vencidos son delante de nosotros, como antes. Mas los hijos de Israel decían: Huiremos, y los alejaremos de la ciudad hasta los caminos.

And the Benjamites said, They are routed before us as at first. But the Israelites said, Let us flee and draw them from the city to the highways.

33 E ntonces, levantándose todos los de Israel de su lugar, se pusieron en orden en Baal-tamar; y también las emboscadas de Israel salieron de su lugar, del prado de Gabaa.

And all the men of Israel rose out of their places and set themselves in array at Baal-tamar, and the men of Israel in ambush rushed out of their place in the meadow of Geba.

34 Y vinieron contra Gabaa diez mil hombres escogidos de todo Israel, y la batalla comenzó a agravarse; mas ellos no sabían que el mal se acercaba sobre ellos.

And there came against Gibeah 10, 000 chosen men out of all Israel, and the battle was hard; but the Benjamites did not know disaster was close upon them.

35 E hirió el SEÑOR a Benjamín delante de Israel; y mataron los hijos de Israel aquel día veinticinco mil cien hombres de Benjamín, todos los cuales sacaban espada.

And the Lord overcame Benjamin before Israel, and the Israelites destroyed of the Benjamites that day 25, 100 men, all of whom were swordsmen.

36 Y vieron los hijos de Benjamín que eran derrotados; pues los hijos de Israel habían dado lugar a Benjamín, porque estaban confiados en las emboscadas que habían puesto detrás de Gabaa.

So the Benjamites saw that they were defeated. The men of Israel gave ground to the Benjamites, because they trusted in the men in ambush whom they had set against Gibeah.

37 E ntonces los hombres de las emboscadas acometieron prontamente a Gabaa, y se extendieron, y pasaron a espada toda la ciudad.

And the men in ambush quickly rushed upon Gibeah, and the liers-in-wait moved out and smote all the city with the sword.

38 Y a los israelitas estaban concertados con los hombres de las emboscadas, que hicieran una señal, haciendo subir gran humo de la ciudad.

Now the appointed signal between the men of Israel and the men in ambush was that when they made a great cloud of smoke arise from the city,

39 L uego, pues, que los de Israel volvieron la espalda en la batalla, y los de Benjamín habían comenzado a derribar heridos de Israel unos treinta hombres, de tal manera que ya decían: Ciertamente ellos han caído delante de nosotros, como en la primera batalla.

The men of Israel should all turn back in battle. Now Benjamin had begun to smite and kill some of the men of Israel, about thirty persons. They said, Surely they are falling before us as in the first battle.

40 M as cuando la señal comenzó a subir de la ciudad en columna de humo, Benjamín tornó a mirar atrás; y he aquí que toda la ciudad había sido consumida y el humo subía al cielo.

But when the cloud began to rise out of the city in a pillar of smoke, the Benjamites looked behind them, and behold, the whole of the city went up in smoke to the heavens.

41 E ntonces se volvieron los varones de Israel, y los de Benjamín se llenaron de temor; porque vieron que el mal había venido sobre ellos.

When the men of Israel turned back again, the men of Benjamin were dismayed, for they saw that disaster had come upon them.

42 Y volvieron la espalda delante de Israel hacia el camino del desierto; mas el escuadrón los alcanzó, y los salidos de las ciudades los mataban en medio de ellos.

Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel and fled toward the wilderness, but the battle followed close behind and overtook them; and the inhabitants of the cities destroyed those who came through them in their midst.

43 A sí cercaron a los de Benjamín, y los siguieron y hollaron, desde Menúha hasta enfrente de Gabaa al nacimiento del sol.

They surrounded the Benjamites, pursued them, and overtook and trod them down at their resting-place as far as opposite Gibeah toward the east.

44 Y cayeron de Benjamín dieciocho mil hombres, todos ellos hombres de guerra.

And there fell 18, 000 men of Benjamin, all of them men of valor.

45 V olviéndose luego, huyeron hacia el desierto, a la peña de Rimón, y de ellos rebuscaron cinco mil hombres en los caminos; y después los persiguieron hasta Gidom, y mataron de ellos otros dos mil hombres.

And turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of Rimmon, and Israel picked off on the highways 5, 000 men of them; they pursued hard after them to Gidom and slew 2, 000 more of them.

46 A sí todos los que de Benjamín murieron aquel día, fueron veinticinco mil hombres que sacaban espada, todos ellos hombres de guerra.

So that all of Benjamin who fell that day were 25, 000 men who drew the sword, all of them men of valor.

47 Y se volvieron y huyeron al desierto a la peña de Rimón seiscientos hombres, los cuales estuvieron en la peña de Rimón cuatro meses.

But 600 men turned and fled to the wilderness to the rock Rimmon and remained at the rock Rimmon four months.

48 Y los varones de Israel volvieron contra los hijos de Benjamín, y los pasaron a espada, a hombres y bestias en la ciudad, y todo lo que fue hallado; asimismo pusieron fuego a todas las ciudades que hallaban.

And the men of Israel turned back against the Benjamites and smote them with the sword, men and beasts and all that they found. Also they set on fire all the towns to which they came.
